Really? My hometown and alma mater did not change, my parents and many other family & friends are there and I visit often so yeah, our schools. Funny coming from a JHS fan who's head is permanently stuck up our ***.

Add in the ancillary reasons like a helicopter delivering helmets, added hype before the game, having to play at Massillon more often than not, and it becomes very clear why few teams don't schedule them. Massillon fans can call it ducking the competition, but no coach or AD wants to deal with the level of distractions that playing Massillon brings. This past weekend is another chapter in their legacy of perpetuating the same M.O. and will not help them find games in the future.

On the flip-side the above mentioned reasons ARE the some of the biggest recruitment tools that Massillon has and they use them well. They have amazing facilities, outstanding history and a passionate fanbase, which ultimately draw players from all over. This is a catch 22 for Massillon as they are able to bring in great players due to their OE status but you lose the respect of area coaches and ADs, thus the reluctance to schedule games.

Outsiders will view this as unfair or cheating, and I am sure there are some instances where it was in the past, but Massillon fans need to accept that no one really wants this headache anymore.
Massillon has NEVER had an ďopen dateĒ and never will.
Why arenít teams like StV, GO, Warren, Fitch and Louisville afraid to play Massillon ???

How embarrassing for Stark County and especially Massillon High School and their administration.
Name the many other schools that said that exact same quote.

Not embarrassing at all we won, they lost and we are moving on to Louisville.

As Iíve told you before and itís crystal clear to understand...
MASSILLON DOESNT GIVE A DAMN WHAT THE REST OF THE COUNTY THINKS !!

Sitting at home in his recliner, even if his team is 8-2, crying and moaning to Joe Scalzo about how itís not fair in D2 and that ďwe just donít have the athletes to competeĒ. These young kids are either going to put up with our crazy practices and how bad I put them down or they can leave.... which some do every year.

twice in 99-2000 Then 4 times 2012 -2013- 2014 2015 . I am not sure if Wake decided all this or not. I am sure you mean we got along. Also I am NOT sure if just the coach has the power to decide if we play or not. He was against the Fawcett game in 2000 Reg. Season. I have stayed away and I just want to be a good sport. It is hard to get on a thread and see all the fighting. I thought Facebook was bad.

It was also said that Massillon played freshmen in the game and removed all starters by the middle of the second quarter. Those things didn't happen either.

Same reason those teams struggle to fill their schedules as well. Louisville only played them this year because it is very difficult to find a week nine opponent.

Again we donít need you, Perry, Jackson,Hoover and Lake.
There will be years there might be a playoff game and then you can get your beating and go home.

Cool Perry.

There isn't any other local schools that have played Massillon more often than Perry. Why isn't Massillon playing Moeller and Iggy and Lakewood St. Eds?

Except we donít live in the 40ís anymore.

We treat others like we are treated...

I donít remember watching anything on the news about Perry playing 2 Canada teams this year or any scathing articles from Joe Scalzo.

What would happen if Massillon played 2 Canada teams ? Oh the outrage.

Ya your right Longwell hit Morgan on a 77 yard bomb in the 4th.
Thomas had 2 long TDís in the 3rd and Turner has a pick 6 with a min to go in the game.
101-6 read it and weep

We have played those schools many many times.
Why doesnít Perry ? So big and bad making it to some title games and acted like they hung with St Ig last year in the playoffs. Step up and play those teams in the regular season instead of playing 2 Canada teams that will keep you from making the playoffs at 8-2.
Think about that for a moment, if you go into benson stadium and beat the #2 team in the state in D1 an 8-0 mckinley team the chances are you still WONT make the playoffs at 8-2. Thatís a direct reflection on how weak your schedule is this year !

How many other teams advertise for an open date by offering a generous travel stipend or assistance with accommodations?

Massillon does that because they can afford to do that. Maybe a better question is why don't more teams do that?

Probably because they don't have to monetarily entice teams to come play.

Stick with that exact mentality and think how nice the yappi threads would be, instead all of you feds want to get on every Stark co / Massillon thread and obsess over the Tigers.
You hate us because you ainít us !!! 8-0 !!!

Hey Shadow do you understand now why the Stark Co threads keep getting closed ??
The later it goes in the season the worse the obsession gets especially when the Tigers sit at 8-0 and the feds are scouring the Internet for anything negative to bring up about Massillon.

In the end, that Perrysburg game was a good thing. Massillon had it knocked into them that there was a problem. That problem was addressed. You are now seeing Massillon reap the rewards of that change.
In a way, Massillon may owe Perrysburg a thank you.

Since Perrysburg handled the Tigers so easily the last time the played, maybe they will schedule Massillon in the regular season sometime soon?

The last 3 years Perrysburg has went
6-4
4-6
2-6 this year

Sounds like that class with Dimmerling was a once in a generation class.
