Elder Trio in NFL Preseason Game

Nice story. All three Lindsey, Rudolph and Wood went to Visi and Elder. Now in the NFL.

Somewhat related, looks like Tommy Kraemer will be starting at RT for ND.

Why is it important to attract non feeder talent? Look at this list:

https://www.cincinnati.com/story/spo...s=&from=global

Ware, Carradine, Washington, Lunsford, maybe even Heath could've all been at Elder with more outreach. These are the type of players, with a good feeder class, that will put Elder right at the top tier in terms of competitiveness. Hell, Ware and Carradine could've both been on the '08 team, Washington played for the Titans.

trey2k is an unknown quantity at this point
I don't think anyone in this forum is disagreeing with you on this point.

The "how" is the big question mark. The admin has to make the call to go get these guys.

They have to do more within the rules. It's on them.

Yet the highest number for any single High School is Elder with four, and from the looks of it all four guys are from traditional feeders (someone correct me if I'm wrong). I know Rudolph and Wood were Visitation, was Windt Lourdes? And McQuaide St A?

I thought Ware didn't make it to Elder due to transportation or financial issues?

IDC what Trey has to say. Elder can make these kids more ready for the next level than their public schools. Not only being better coached, but having a more disciplined and stable academic background will also go a long way. Maybe Ware and Washington wouldn't have been screw ups off the field if they came from teams/programs that weren't totally lacking in discipline. Ware especially needed in a kick in the azz. He would've certainly been higher than a 6th Round pick if he wasn't a total bum at LSU.

I don't believe it was financial. I think Elder had that worked out, and he was on board, but just decided not to transfer. I'm not blaming Elder for him bailing, just pointing out how important it is to attract these kinds of players.

Washington would probably have gone to Elder, but he let his friend's dad, some LaVar Ball wannabe, make his decisions and that guy only cared about getting PT for his average son.

That's great and all, but two of them weren't factors on their respective teams. I'm not diminishing their talents, but Long Snappers don't win championships.

They can certainly lose championships. You're a clown if you think they aren't important.
Elder won state 2002 by a score of 21-19
Elder beat Colerain in Regional Final 24-23
I realize xps and FGs aren't just on the LS but it's the entire LS-Holder-Kicker as a unit. And at Elder, I'm sure both players had different positions that they played other than just LS.

Did I say they weren't important? Haven't I always preached how critical STs are at the HS level? However, to claim they're as important as any position player is nuts.

McQuaide was also at TE, but never had the ball thrown his way much. I think Windt was legitimately only a LS.

Ricky Brown, 6 years with the Oakland Raiders was from Lourdes. He signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012. While he was in camp got hurt and was put on the Injured Reserve list. That is the year Baltimore won the Super Bowl. I have read that the team has discretion to award rings to players that have been put on IR. Most do it. Have not heard if if Ricky got one.

He's a recruiter for BC now.
