Copley played well. Their matchup zone seemed to frustrate the Bulldogs in the 1st half especially. Woulda lost this bet, particularly down a very good rebounder to injury. They looked very prepared and ready to play. Good win for the Indians.

I'd say Martin does more playing with less but Pallota is one heck of an athlete. Not clear at all but knowing Jackson Pallota will get it.

He got shut down at Jackson when they played. Pallotta has better overall stats and does more on the court besides score. If Jackson beats Lake next Friday not only will they win the FL for a 4th straight year but Pallotta will win POY.

Not looking past Hoover though. They could give Jackson a scare Friday

They'll give it to Pallotta since Martin is a junior.

Normally I'd say Hoover gives Jackson a scare, but not this year.

Blackledge is looking to improve on his 1-7 record against Jackson and Debevec. The Polar Bears have won those games by an average of 21 points.

Interesting article on Anthony Mazzeo of Jackson. I’ve heard of nerve injuries like this before, crazy to me that something like that can happen.

You can argue for your hometown boy and I get it. But its player of the year not player of the game. He had 32 the first time they played Jackson and 12 the second time, I think Pallota had 10, did Green shut him down? If I were starting a HS team tomorrow itd be a toss up for which player I'd want to build my team around, Martin is a much better scorer and is getting every teams best defense against him.

Jackson has a player with one leg that doesn't work, and we're still beating you all.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Good timing on Canton Rep season stats http://www.cantonrep.com/sports/2018...gs-and-leaders with respect to POY and taking into account the three teams with a chance to win the league (Green, Jackson and Lake) here are the leading candidates and their supporting cast (of stats only showing up in leader board list of the Rep)

Jackson: League 8-2 Overall 14-4

Jaret Pallotta: 16.0 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 5.1 APG, 51.1% FG %, 71.6% FT %

Ethan Stanislawski 14.8 PPG, 3.1 APG, 57.1% FG%, 54.3% 3 PT%
Anthony Mazzeo 10.3 PPG, 47.2% FG%, 43.5% 3 Pt%
Will Hyde 71.6% FG%

Green: League 8-3 Overall 12-5

Keleb Martin 18.7 PPG, 3.1 APG, 38.7% 3 Pt% 87.9% FT%

Devin Limerick 2.7 APG
Corey Oswald 49.5% FG%, 39.7% 3 Pt%
Garrison Keesler 38.5% 3 PT%

Lake: League 8-2 Overall 14-2

Jake Maranville 14.2 PPG, 3.5 APG, 49.7% FG%, 33.3% 3Pt%, 85.4% FT%

Mike Spotleson 10.7 PPG, 58.9% FG%
Jeremy Brady 47.9% FG%

Let me know if I missed anything in the leader board. Missing stat would be steals per game (would even out guard's impact on game vs forward's).

County Leaders by stat in Rep:

Scoring: Angelo Milini - Heritage Christian 25.2 PPG
Rebounds: Mark Mayle - Malvern 12.2 RPG
Assists: Dyson Berry - Massillon 7.1 APG
FG%: Will Hyde - Jackson 71.6%
3 PT%: Ethan Stanislawski - Jackson 54.3%
FT%: Brandon Wahl - Louisville 89.8%

Iím not disparaging Martin but in the biggest game of the season where they could have eliminated Jackson from Fed contention he was held to 13 points and only 3 FG.

Pallotta had 26 points the first time they played and the second time close to a triple double with 8/6/6.

Big games matter in the course of a season. Martin is without question the better scorer but Pallotta does more for his team across the board especially on the defensive end where Martin is lacking.

I was fully ready to give Martin POY had they beat Jackson and he had another 20+ point performance....but that didnít happen.

Right now itís Pallottaís to lose.

You guys are funny.

I’m a Lake guy and I have Martin and Pallotta about equal at this point for different reasons. Martin is a great scorer and Pallotta does everything. I think they are about equally valuable to their teams with Maranville slightly behind.

I think the nod goes to Pallotta though for his versatility and being a Senior. If Jackson wins they league out right that could also help tip the scales in Pallotta’s favor.

Was Pallotta football POY? I can't remember who it was. If it wasn't Pallotta, then they'll almost assuredly give him the basketball nod.

It's seems like Hoover is going with all young kids, Frosh and Soph. If this Freshman and 8th grade class pans out like it could, Hoover should be able to make a good 3 or 4 year run at the Federal League and District title. A lot of really good young talent. I think tonight's game with Jackson maybe closer then people think, but that could just be wishful thinking. Good Luck All.

The 9th and 8th grade class is not all that impressive. It is true they have a couple of good athletes but not enough to win a Fed Title or District Championship. I heard half the team last year that may have gotten alot of playing time this year play Y ball at the local YMCA. Why did so many of them quit?

At least the younger players are getting some experience and that should help. I wish them the best of luck. Not sure if this game tonight will be close though.
