Hard yes. One of my favorite memories ever is getting drunk and watching my son win a State Championship in '08. Would've been a nice memory sober, but as Willy Wonka says... candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.

Fortunately at Marion Local we have a bar next to the football field. So you can drink before the game at halftime and after the game with out ever getting into a car. Of course their is the drive home.

Temporary liquor licenses are issued for church festivals, fish frys etc, at least they should be getting one. Every event I have been associated with has obtained a temp liquor license

I don't have a problem with it. I also understand why some people would have a problem with it. It's probably also a different dynamic for private versus public schools.

If I remember correctly, Iggy and St. Ed did a similar announcement regarding tailgaiting and alcohol a few years ago. I think people mostly ignored it. I realize there are idiots who go too far but I also think those people would just go to the closest bar before the game then instead.

What alcoholic gets off of work early to go tailgate at a high school football game? Get a life! I meet my group of friends at 6pm and we drink for an hour. If you need more than that go back out at half time and take a couple of shots!

I tailgate at Toledo Central Catholic games sometimes. Alcohol is allowed and its just not a big deal. The community is great and we know the limits. Ive never seen anyone get out of hand and I also have never seen kids getting it. I think the adults know the party is over if kids get it. Also, as someone pointed out earlier, there are plenty of fundraisers and festivals where alcohol is served.

The only people I've seen out of hand at games are the people who consumed alcohol elsewhere before getting to the game/tailgate. And they're going to do that either way.

You really think a state government is going to allow alcohol sales with no permit (i.e, fee income)?

A temporary permit is required. For the events you describe, it's typically a F-2 permit.

Church festivals, yes.....

OHSAA contests, no......

How does "can't" enter into it, as opposed to "choose to"?

Drinking bad; gambling good?

NCAA and NFL and all sports are heavily funded by alcohol industrial complex, but kids who are bombarded with positive alcohol messages on a daily basis have to be shielded on Friday nights?

Guys, you only need a liquor license if you are selling alcohol. This is tailgating where people are bringing their own alcohol. The schools are not selling it.

It's not difficult. Public consumption is illegal.

It's private property at a private school, it is not illegal.

Seriously, hell to the no! This is HS sports, don't need to add drunks to the mix. Already enough stupid yelling at players, coaches and officials!

Here's a thought, if you need to drink, stay home! Dumbest poll ever!

No Way. Not a great way to set an example for kids. Lets go to a high school game and drink...

I am far from a prude... but come on, common sense says this is not a good Idea. If I was the local cops I would set up a DWI check point near by for "Post Game Revenue"

I don't see it being an issue. If you act like an idiot drunk, that's on you! I find it entertaining seeing sloshed parents lose it at coaches after games.

I would say it is too extreme when parents are slamming beers at CYO games. I've seen it happen!
