District Assignments?

When can we expect the District Assignments to be released? It seems odd that the season has started and these are still TBD (at least here in the Northeast)

Divisional Assignments were released back in the spring

Benedictine and CCC are two big hitters that moved back down to DII.

It looks like the canton d2 district will be interesting now that SVSM is in D1. looks like Buchtel will be favorited. Louisville, Norton, Louisville, Alliance, and Tallmadge will be in the mix as well.

Sadly, Coventry looks like they are supposed to be down this year, because they graduate Vanadia, Skaggs, Sibley, Wagner, Hogg chose to transfer to ellet his senior year. Its too bad for my comets, that we will miss out on this rare opportunity.

D2 is going to be brutal even with SVSM moving up.

I don't think anybody tough moves into D2 canton though, unless Canton Central Catholic is good this year, and they go into d2. Benedictine and Cleveland Central Catholic going d2 will probably be in stow or something. Woodridge could be moved to Canton perhaps.

And they will probably be gerrymandered into the same District, I get that they are close but they find a way to split up Ed's and Iggy in Div I. What is further idiotic is they make them play and hour away in Stow. The Stow District is basically a bunch of eastern Cuyahoga County teams plus Akron East, Revere and Woodridge. Plenty of decent gyms in Southeast Cuyahoga County, I'm sure they can find someone to take this District on but then again Stow will lose their parking revenue.

VASJ is in the same boat going out to Lakeside. Last year the semi final game was about as dangerous a drive there could have been. It's over an hr away - if the weather is good. Which it wasn't.

Divisional assignments were determined awhile ago.

The following NEO schools are in DII (in order of enrollment + CB):
Canfield
Aurora
Chardon
Howland
Lake Catholic
Padua
Alliance
Cleveland CC
Gilmour Academy
Benedictine
Shaw
Louisville
Marlington
Akron East
Revere
Geneva
Coventry
Harvey
Norton
Glenville
Holy Name
Medina Buckeye
Bay
Akron Springfield
Niles McKinley
CVCA
Rocky River
Tallmadge
Cleveland JFK
Cloverleaf
Ravenna
NDCL
Woodridge
Chagrin Falls
Hawken
Buchtel
West Geauga
Cardinal Mooney
Orange
Girard
West Branch
Poland Seminary
Hubbard
Streetsboro
Lutheran West
Canal Fulton Northwest
Field
Struthers
Canton South
Firelands
Brookside
Salem
Perry
VASJ
Jefferson Area
Lakeview
Conneaut
Ursuline
Akron Manchester
Lorain Clearview
Keystone
Ravenna Southeast

I'll assume Youngstown East will also end up in DII in light of their DIV divisional assignment for football. I have no idea if Chaney will be DII or DIII.

I have no inside knowledge of this stuff, but here's my best guess for D2 Canton:
Alliance
Louisville
Marlington
Northwest
Canton South
Manchester
Akron East
Coventry
Norton
Springfield
Buchtel
Field

West Branch is a possibility for a 13th team because I've found 13 other schools that would most likely be assigned to Boardman, assuming Youngstown East is DII.

I have a hunch, and it would not surprise me at all, if Benedictine and/or CCC are moved from Canton to Bowling Green and therefore are placed in the N. Ridgeville district and not in Stow district.
Last year, the NEO Athletic Board moved several of Benedictine's and CCC's teams from the Akron area to the Western Cuyahoga / Lorain County area. This year, Benedictine's soccer team also was moved west. The reason Benedictine's BB team was not moved west last year, was because it moved up to DI. Now that it is back in DII, I expect them to be move to N. Ridgeville.
Just a gut feeling.

I think its pathetic that the NEDAB doesn't have these completed yet. Other districts have it done, and we are on the second full week of practice with no district assignments. This would NEVER happen with football. Ever. It is lazy, and there is no excuse for it. Shame on the NEDAB.

According to the NEDAB website, their next meeting is not until Saturday, December 1st. I hope they are not waiting until then to decide the assignments for winter sports.

If that is D2 -Canton, then it looks like Buchtel should be the heavy favorite.

I would not place them heavy over my Leps. Louisville will be a strong contender in this district, our schedule is rough, but it will prepare us for a district championship run and opportunity for revenge against Buchtel...

With the All-Star team brought into Buchtel this summer, it would be shocking if any of the teams in this district could beat this Buchtel team at full strength.

So basically an AAU all-star assembled team? Ok, perhaps then I stand corrected, but Louisville will be in the thick of it.

I'm not sure who Buchtel brings back from last year's squad. But they were a solid team last year. Plus, they have 2-3 transfers from STVM, all solid players. But the jewel in the crown is freshman Chris Livingston who already is in the conversation as the best HS player in the State. At 6'7", there aren't too many teams in the State that will have an answer for him.

Well, the NEDAB's next scheduled meeting isn't until December 1. Will there be a work session before then?

The NWDAB has not posted theirs either. The NWDAB next scheduled meeting is not until November 30th.

Buchtel is going to be the team to beat in d2 canton this year. But we'll see. Another team just might have an ace or two up their sleeves...

The NWDAB is lazy as well if they don't have their assignments posted. There is no excuse to not have it done. Again, could you imagine the uproar if football was a week or so away from playing game 1 and the regions weren't aligned yet? NEDAB really dropped the ball here. Get it done.

I have a question, would any of the transfers from STV start for STV this year if they had stayed?

I know Buchtel returns All-State Honorable mention/All District 2nd team: Jonathan King, Akron Buchtel, 6-6, sr.

The assignments are posted. Looks like Strongsville lost their D1 district to Lakewood.

It's hard to say because kids develop at different paces. But, IMO they would likely not have been starters. And that's not a knock on them. The Irish basically return the starting 5 from last year's title squad, except for point guard Scott Walters (who is already getting court time at Akron U). But his spot will be filled by sophomore Seth Wilson. So there weren't a lot of spots open! Still, they all would have been solid contributors off the bench; which the Irish need to play the type of defense they do. They will definitely help the Griffs!

Well, I had 12 of the 13 teams correct. Tallmadge is #13. I had figured West Branch would go to Canton, Southeast to Boardman, and Tallmadge to Stow. They threw me a curve by sending Southeast to Stow.

As of today, Monday 11/19, the NWDAB has not posted their district assignments.
