Former Cardinals in College UPDATE THREAD!

Fellow Cardinals Fans - let's use this thread to update each other on the happenings of some of our own as they have moved onto the college ranks. Please post any stories you find regarding our former players or post your own thoughts/opinions on a former player and where they are in their collegiate career.

I'll start with one I found regarding Tyler Moeller just a few days ago:

From the Columbus Dispatch (free registration required, I think).

Moeller embraces his move from linebacker to safety

"Tyler Moeller flies around. He's always at 100 mph," coach Jim Tressel said.

Looks like our boy is making some noise. Congrats Tyler and keep up the great work!

Thanks CardDad. I noticed that Scott Stegeman is also at Hanover. Remnants from our back-to-back regional runner up teams in '02 and '03.

Keep them coming!

Terrence saw some good playing time last year at Minnesota. He had 21 attempts for 102 yards and a touchdown. I tried to see how he did in the spring game but there wasn't anything on him.

I've heard that Henry "Bam" Lemons has been doing pretty good as a starter at Indiana State.

Anybody got any word on Cobrani?

I also checked out the UM site for Terrance and he didn't show up anywhere in the Spring game last week. Makes me wonder if he's injured or what's up. As a sophomore fighting for a possible starting job, you would have thought he would have been all over that game.

As far as Cobrani is concerned, from what I gather it looks like he will be one of the first ILB's off the bench for Michigan. I expect he will get some time in blowout games or maybe even on special teams. However, with his knee history, it wouldn't surprise me if they keep him away from things like special teams.

Keep the updates coming. It's great to read about the fine young men of Colerain and their accomplishments post graduation.

Eric Ornella is doing pretty well at Murray State. He got a lot of playing time this year when the guy in front of him on the depth chart blew out his knee. The first game Ornella got in was against Missouri, and he held his own pretty well. If I'm not mistake, there's a fair chance of him starting as a sophomore next season.

I think everyone heres knows about Goodie and Terill but Tirdell is starting at UTM. Nick Davis will starting at BG if he recovers from his offseason surgery. Justin Miller is starting at Georgetown this year. Buddah is starting at Charelstson as he was freshman all american in his conference last year as redshirt freshman.

Other sports: UC pitcher Dan Osterbrock is currently 6-1 and leads the Big East in K's. He could be an All-American and we could see him pitching in the majors in a few years.

Is he a sophomore? If so he is eligible to be drafted after his junior year.

Mike Ferris has been promoted in the St. Louis Cardinals chain. He started out well last year, was among the Florida State League leaders until May. I believe he got hurt.

Mike spent the first two weeks at Palm Beach, The Cardinals high Class A team. On April 24 he was promoted to Springfield, MO in the Class AA Texas League. He is hitting a combined .375 but is sitting right now because Juan Encarnacion is there on a rehab assignment. Just checked he was 0-for-4 yesterday dropping to .250 but he scored 2 runs.

Also note that the son of former White Oak principal, Rick Sollman, is among the Southern League leading hitters in the Milwaukee chain. Steve Sollman, who unfortunately went to X, is hitting .365 and stole home in a recent game. He has been moved from second to firstbase. Tough luck for him, Prince Fielder is three years younger.

colgar, thanks for the link! Ferris is in a tough spot mainly because St. Louis has a great 1st Baseman. I think his name is Pujols?

If he's good trade material he'll find a fit somewhere.

Justin Moore recently walked on to UC's football team! He was an outstanding cover corner and was extremely underrated while he was here! Look for him to get some playing time this season.

I'm curious about a few guys....

How is Connor Smith doing at OSU?
How is Andre Revels doing at UC?
Will Mister play this season down in Clifton?
Is Fitz still playing down at Morehead?

Looks like the Morehead spring game was post-poned after it started due to inclement weather.

But our boy was in on the scoring...

Anybody got any word on Kyle Lumpkin? I checked out the Air Force site and he's not even listed on the roster...

It's also nice to hear that Fitz is doing good. He was one ---- of a great player at Colerain.

More updates on Dan Osterbrock, former Cardinal pitching ace who is absolutely tearing it up at UC as a sophomore. He recently halted a 6 game UC losing streak by beating St. John's @ St. John's.

He's got a 1.10 WHIP (walks+hits/IP) and a 2.61 ERA. He is averaging almost a K/IP. For those of you who follow baseball, you know how good these numbers are.

Dan Osterbrock's 2007 game-by-game stats

Cincinnati Stops Six-Game BIG EAST Skid with Win at St. John's, 5-4

Congratulations Dan on your outstanding season so far! Looking forward to possibly seeing you in the bigs someday.

Just heard from Eric. Looks like barring injury, he'll definitely be starting next season as a soph.

I was just on UC's web site checking up on the former Cards. They have Byrd,Revels,Goodman and Moore listed but not Simpson. They also have a dude by the name of Ralston Reeves listed as being from CHS.I have no idea who the guy is.....

Definitely not a former Cardinal.

And Osterbrock was ejected from the game Friday night against Louisville. Quite possibly the worst call in baseball history.

Per the bigeast.org website
98 Ralston Reeves DE 6-3/240 Fr. Detroit, Mich./Murray-wright

Must be a typo on the UC site.

Here's another update, not of the good variety.

It appears that Eugene has dropped out of the Big33 game to be played this Saturday? Does anyone know why or what is going on? He wasn't in the East/West game either.

Is he participating in the North/South game??

No surprise with Terrill. I think Goodie will move up in Kelly's offense. Good to see Andre as a contender for starting middle linebacker. Does anybody know if Mister is going to be there this year?

Mister wants eligibility

Update on Mister. He's got his work cut out for him, no doubt. However, I think he's as talented as any back currently on the roster and if he gets his head on straight and takes care of business, he should be in good shape.

UC's Simpson wants eligibility

Derrick Stewart left the team. Goody could be the man. If Craig Carey does not win a spot on the QB chart, I believe he can replace Celek at tight end.

I can't say this on the Elder Forum without fitting myself for a cross.

Do you think Goodman is ready to step up and be the man?... He obviously isn't quite as quick as Stewart but I think he could definitely be the better overall WR...
