is there something wrong with Women's Coaches?!

So last week Purcell Marian (who doesn't have a team) got 2 votes...

OH Girls Soccer, Division III: Week 5
1. Summit Country Day ( 7 ) 70
2. Madeira 62
3. CHCA 52
4. Seven Hills 37
5. Clermont Northeastern 36
6. Deer Park 33
7. Williamsburg 27
8. Clark Montessori 19
9. Waynesville 17
10. Georgetown 16
Others: Finneytown 8, Cincinnati Christian 2, Fayetteville Perry 2, Purcell Marian 2, Felicity-Franklin 1, Ripley-Union 1

This week, they moved up in the polls! With seven votes! Almost breaking the top ten!

OH Girls Soccer, Division III: Week 6
1. Summit Country Day ( 8 ) 80
2. Madeira 70
3. CHCA 57
4. Seven Hills 46
5. Deer Park 42
6. Clermont Northeastern 38
7. Williamsburg 28
8. Waynesville 23
9. Georgetown 22
10. Clark Montessori 18
Others: Purcell Marian 7, Finneytown 4, Cincinnati Christian 2, Felicity-Franklin 2, North College Hill 1

I mean... This has to be a joke?... right? These women's coaches can't be this obtuse can they? I mean how do the 4 teams feel that are getting ranked under a team that doesn't exist?

It looks like one more coach voted this week... If other coaches kept their same ranking, it means this new coach ranked Purcell 6th this week in the Polls... Pretty impressive. To be fair, I guess Purcell hasn't lost all year! Dang, I think next week I'd vote them #1 above Summit. Come on coaches!! Let's get them a #1 vote next week!!!

Are they going to keep ranking a non-existent team every week? This is a soccer forum, no?... I am talking about soccer. Not much of a forum if nobody talks.

Seriously, one coach, just give them 1 number one vote next week. lol

polls dont generate much interest you gotta talk about club soccer being superior to hs, private schools recruiting or teams beating other teams 15-0 |
18-1 | 11-2 stuff like that then you will get some feedback

I'm assuming they don't care. If they haven't won enough to be in the Cincinnati Division III top 10, I'd guess they don't care about the poll at all.

Cincinnati Christian and North College Hill have combined for 3 goals this year. Finneytown is 2-6-1. I've never heard of Felicity-Franklin. When you get past the first few teams, I don't fault coaches for just filling out the rest of the form just to get it done.

An Non-Existent Team might be able to beat some the teams below 7 or 8 in the poll. Real question is "Where will they be seeded in the tournament?"

You beat me to it Fulham. I was going to pose the question, what happens if they get seeded?

I didn't even think of the tournament! lol That is grand!

I wonder if we could make up a fictitious school and get them ranked.

Unified School of Underprivileged Cincinnati Kids

That sounds like a good private school. I hear it very tough to get kids in that school. Next thing you know parents are going to be sleeping out in tents to get their kid in.

Come on... lets get USUCK in the polls!

The simple solution to this is publish how each coach votes.

That pretty much stopped the silliness of the NCAA football coaches poll when their votes were made public.

Totally agree with this. At least make it available to other coaches.

No different than when some D1 Girls coach voted Mason #1 over Loveland the week after Loveland beat them 5-0.

I got no clue what you're talkin about. Ive seen Purcell play and they're darn good. Real athletic. I hope they do keep moving up in the polls cause they deserve it.

ok... I tried, I really did! I was going to overlook the Purcell thing and not comment on it (even though they still got 2 votes this week).

But, now it looks like its across all divisions...

Div II
OH Girls Soccer, Division II: Week 7
1. Indian Hill ( 10 ) 131
2. Cincinnati Country Day 90
3. McNicholas 84
4. Badin 80
5. Mariemont 65
6. McAuley 52
7. Alter ( 3 ) 42
8. New Richmond ( 1 ) 40
9. Taylor 30
10. Roger Bacon 26

Now I can understand some votes for Alter, they are undefeated, as are Indian Hill... But New Richmond?!! Come on!! They just lost 9-0 to Indian Hill. I'm guessing that is the New Richmond coach who didn't like losing that bad. In that case, just vote for Alter! They are legit also, and you don't have to vote for Indian Hill. I guess it could have been on purpose to show the Indian Hill coach who exactly is not voting for them. Kind of a middle finger to Indian Hill.

Div I
OH Girls Soccer, Division I: Week 7
1. Loveland ( 16 ) 160
2. Mason 128
3. St Ursula 122
4. Fairfield 116
5. Sycamore 79
6. Ursuline Academy 61
7. Turpin 51
8. Lakota West 48
9. Mount Notre Dame 47
10. Lakota East ( 1 ) 26

Now there seems to be a consensus here for Loveland, minus 1 little vote. Now maybe you could make a case that East has played a lot of tough teams... but 7 losses! Loveland hasn't lost a game PLUS have only 1 goal against all year! Not sure how you could vote against that! I thought maybe it was a case of East being angry like in DII... but they don't play each other, so not sure who would have voted like that. Totally confused. Please someone explain this! (honestly that only 1 goal against all year is one of the most amazing things I have seen any division, boys or girls!) I need to get out to see this team I think.

I honestly think its just the girl's teams coaches. You don't really see this in the boys divisions.

OH Boys Soccer, Division I: Week 7
1. Moeller ( 18 ) 219
2. Anderson ( 5 ) 209

OH Boys Soccer, Division II: Week 7
1. Wyoming ( 6 ) 118
2. Alter ( 8 ) 115

OH Boys Soccer, Division III: Week 7
1. Summit Country Day ( 7 ) 70

WHAT!!

Purcell didn't make the tournament!

Girls D3

Honestly, I am disgusted and a little dismayed. How dare you people leave a school out of the tournament. I have a good mind to call the state on this matter!

When coaches vote, it's online using 10 drop down boxes to click on arrow to display teams, then click on the team to place in that spot.

An easy mistake to not catch is after selecting a team, the user then hits the arrow keys to scroll down instead of the mouse. Doing that could actually cycle up/down from the list of teams on the last drop-down box one clicked.

My guess is this could have happened, or (what I hope) is that the coaches read Yappi & your rants, and have purposely orchestrated this.

... please let it be the latter! I'd like to think all coaches love reading my rants. HA!
