Who cares??? I'll ask... does it matter if they win 55 or 65 or 70 games this year??? Absolutely not! Finish in 4th place or 5th place? No!

This is all about seeing who is going to be vying for the rotation next season, and finding out who can or will be in your starting 8 next season. Why are you so hung up with wins and losses?? It simply does not matter. This team was expected to finish in the bottom half of the division by 98% of the experts. Wins and losses are simply a number!! Stop the historical crap!!
It also didn't matter in 2014, but you were all for cutting off your nose to spite your face. It has nothing to do with wins and losses, my point is very simply, that when we were supposed to be emerging from a rebuild we fielded what is, up to now, one of the worst teams in franchise history. Not surprised you missed the point.

Exactly right. Same point I was making.

2014 - 76 wins, and the "rebuild" was acknowledged.
2015 - 64 wins
2016 - 68 wins
2017 - 68 wins
2018 - Long way to go but 68 seems like a dream

And yet 14Red says THIS is the year for finding out who your pitchers will be next year. My point is we should be much, much farther along in this rebuild 4 years in...

Gotta clean house, management is obviously incompetent. Maybe Sashi Brown needs a job...

Anyone with a brain can reasonably acknowledge they are way behind on the rebuild, which is why this season is already a failure. 14Rtard is a moron.

There was an article a year or so ago saying the Reds had no idea or plan in this rebuild and it would be 10 vs 5 yrs before they were competitive again. 14red scoffed at this. It looks like that article may be closer to right.

Good start by Sal Romano last night, got a few key hits. Romano...key is he pitched well, win or lose, this is what you guys need to be focusing on.

Havent seen anyone emulate that infectious Brandon Phillips' smile. Would go a long way for this team and the fan base. We need a fan favorite.

As far as rebuilds go, this is what is important to me. I will look for progress next game.

I wonder what the record is for games played without winning 2 in a row to start a season?

Who cares, Arrogate? They aren't having fun out there so it's totally pointless to worry about winning 2 in a row.

Iíd agree with this. Iíve never really thought of him as part of the rebuild, but he could be a solid #3/#4 in the rotation. I still think Garret needs to be a Starter. He has the most potential of anyone currently on the staff. Reed and Finnegan look like theyíre done.

W/o continually piling on, Iíd agree theyíre behind schedule. This is the kind of output you wouldíve expected 3 yrs ago after they traded away all of those key pieces.

We know what we need to be focusing on; we've been focusing on it for four years. And yet we are no nearer any answers...

Astros won ~55 games each year in 2011, 2012, 2013. Then in the summer of 2014 Sports Illustrated published a cover that predicted the Astros would win the World Series in 2017? Amazing. Wonder when they will do that with the Reds?

Answer: They won't, until we get a regime change. With the Astros it was plain to see that they had star youth (Altuve, Springer, Correa, Bregman, Kuechel, etc. etc.) Reds have none of that. Poor drafting and player development, plus an unwillingness to truly burn it to the ground and start over, like Houston did.

Math: (no commitment to a plan + no courage) = 10 years of this mess

Fire them all. Except Price, he is excellent, right 14Red?

Theyíve got Senzel and Green. However, I do think the Draft needs to be more of a focus. The NFL Draft gets months of Cvg, and MLBíd is a footnote. I understand, we donít see the guys from the MLB right away, but itís still important and worth more Cvg than it currently receives.

No one cares about the mlb draft because those guys don’t play in the MLB for 2-4 yrs, if ever.

Itís worth paying attention to. Itís not AS important as the NFL Draft, but still warrants some discussion. Itís the only way a team like the Reds, who have no major stars to trade, can rebuild their team. The future depends on Senzel, Green, etc.

Plus it's in the middle of the season competing. The NFL helps to fill the void of no football that happens between March and July.

Also the NFL being vastly more popular than all of the other sports leagues.

I think theyíd love to actually. But 1) he wonít waive no trade clause and 2) his contract is unfavorable to the majority of teams.

The reverse jinx worked!

The Reds are terrible, they'll never win 3 in a row.
