I have finalized my two lists, a top ten for regular season wins and top ten for playoff wins. I will start with the regular season. There are articles to the original story for the game, which wasn't always easy to find.

Here are the "first five" for memorable regular season wins under Triv: These are in date order, not necessarily in order from #1 to #5. I will release the rest of my top ten, games from 2011-2018, at a later date.

They did not; Hilliard did the next time they got the ball second, and the rest is history. Other than that game, I thought Mentor was up against it in the SC games. Triv will not be remembered for those losses. He will be remembered for all the wins he has had against the best teams in the country. I do hope he gets one this year. It would be a great way to go out.
Ironically, Coach Kyle was ripped for not going for 2 in the 3rd OT vs Mentor in the 2012 Regional Final. Triv, having learned his lesson vs Hilliard, went for 2 in the 3rd OT to win 57-56. Although many Mentor fans were screaming for Triv to go for 2 in the 2nd OT, with the 2006 Final still fresh in their minds.

In my several years of doing these summer opponent previews, this was a unique one. First of all, I'm not entirely sure what to call them?!?

"Football North" - that's what they call themselves...but there are TWO Football North's
"Clarkson Football North"
"Football North via Clarkson SS" - that is what Joe Eitel calls them
"Mississauga Football North Prep Academy" - that is EagleFan calls them

Ok, the school name is confusing. Plus they have no mascot name, which is unusual. Then you get to the school itself. They are a prep academy out of Canada. The guys come and go on a pretty regular basis. Hard to muster a preview, but thankfully their coaches posts a lot on Twitter...which is where I found a lot of info on their players, offers, etc.

Here is my preview on...whatever you want to call them: https://mentorfootball.blogspot.com/...all-north.html

Counting down the remainder of the top ten wins under Triv. My other entry had the first five from 1997-2010. These last five are from 2011-2018.

I'm surprised you don't have the 1997 Warren G Harding game or the 1998 Lake Catholic game

98 Lake Catholic win, good call. The only win that Mentor had over Lake Catholic in the series. A big, exciting, last second win. That was an oversight. I donít remember...how good was Lake Catholic that season? I see they missed the playoffs. But it was an important win for Mentor in making the playoffs that season.

I donít remember 1997 WGH win. The Raiders didnít make the playoffs from 1991-2000, so I donít know that a win over the 90s WGH squads means the same as it did in earlier or later years. Can you provide some context on the win? I understand the 90s was a lot harder to make the playoffs before the expansion to 8 team per region in 1998.

I believe that win against WGH was the first big win for Coach Triv. If I can remember, they were ranked 5th in the state at the time and that was the best game of the year for that 4-6 football team. May not be a top 5 game of the decade but definitely the start of the Triv Dynasty.

That was a nice hour chat with Triv, Coach Gray, and some players.

The coaches all acknowledge there is no way to replace three lineman going to Ohio State/Michigan State. Jacoby, Samac, and Potter were a big part of last year's success. There aren't any 6'4 or 6'5 guys on the offensive line, but the coaches say there is still enough size. A freshman (6'5, 240 with at least one DI offer according to Triv) is going to start at defensive end. That is something. Rarely does Mentor bring back their QB, RB, and top WR - so that trio will be counted on to lead this team. I think Kipp will need to take two or three steps forward from last season. He wasn't counted on to win any games with his arm. Without Jacoby/Samac busting up big holes, the offense will need a stronger passing game than 2018.

On a basketball note, it was great to hear Floriea say that he will not be graduating early, so he will finish up his HS athletic career on the hardwood. It was interesting to hear both from Floriea and Kipp about how Krizancic has impacted them as competitors and football players.
