Has anyone heard how the Freshman class is developing?

Nothing to report until camp start. Also donít put too much stock in what happens freshmen year as a sign of what will happens at varsity level

That is the norm for most high school boys. Nothing says you can't stop by and watch practice when they start camp Aug 1. Also they will probably have 2-3 scrimmages.

Having had multiple boys play at St X with varying degrees of success my best advice for freshmen football is don't get too overconfident if you start, or too down if you are third or fourth on the depth chart. Freshmen success is not a good predictor of varsity success.

Also be very open to playing whatever position the coaches want you to play. I have seen too many kids who define themselves as a QB, LB or whatever and they resist moving.

Most importantly enjoy the ride it will go quickly.

agree that freshmen football can be misleading and players need to be open to play all positions.

having said that I do know St X got a lot of good athletes in the freshmen class. i would define it as a class with good prospects on the Oline//Dline, good skill positions, good speed with athletic kids, and good mix of East/North/Westside Catholic League Players and a good mix of Public school kids as well. I don't know if there is a standout QB like there have been with some of the previous classes.

Brian Fitzgerald's (HOF RB) oldest son is in the class. Think he is a pretty good athlete and has played QB. Not sure how big he is so he may be looked at as a DB by the coaches if there are other quality QB's in the class...
