I still contend that Cloverleaf girls is being underrated at the LCCC District and will give Bay and Hathaway Brown all they can Handle. 7 quality teams for 6 spots. If anyone from any of the teams does not run well, they could be staying home as a team. None of the other Districts are even close to this level of competition.

Only 5 teams getting out of LCCC, same as the other 3 sites, 20 teams at Regional this year, down from 21 last year.

Yeah, that's my bad. I was looking at CVC's list of six and had it in my head that there was one less spot then teams that he had. I added a 7th team and type 6 by mistake. 7 quality teams for 5 spots. (Funny thing is I did it again. I had to correct it here before hitting return. Typed 6 instead of 5)

Thank you very much Bill, Pyschodad I'm still taken back by the East teams shifted to LCCC. If I was a D3 girls' team I would be praying to go to Trumbull

Boy's D2

Lorain(5)

Rocky River(2) they have the single digit front runners and strength in the back

Bay(8) they also are a complete deep team but, so far they can't cover RR man to man

Woodridge (5)the defending champions. Are as much better team then most expected. I'm just waiting for some Howard magic come regional time.

Fairview. (14)I like this team. They can sneak up on you like a shot of bourbon in your morning tea. They have a good number one and solid but not great in the rear

CVCA finished right behind Fairview Park at Spartan. But since then they have been missing the middle of their line up. I hope they are ready buy. Saturday

Triway they had no problem beating CVCA at Malone....they will be a shoe in CVCA doesn’t come around. In fact...I think they will beat CVCA ..because their runners may have been on the shelf too long...

Madison (5) there are 6 or 7 teams here that don’t have a pray of advancing

NDCL (7)the Lions can almost run this race like a glorified tempo run...and still advance

Jefferson, this team is probably the most improved boy’s team in the region

Lake Catholic. It’s good to see them back in D2....

Orange I, watched the Lions train all summer...the hard work is really paying off

Perry, another team which as stayed solid all season

Benedictine I would love for the Bengals to finish fifth here. But, they will really have to earn it.

Trumbull (5)

Seminary have shown to be the best here and they have raced like it

Salem ..boy they seem so promising at Boardman...and now they look like champions after their conference meet

South Range they are usually the bridesmaid and never the bride...that changes right here and now

No, Berkshire is the team I’m going with..they just won the CVC....no still Seminary and Salem

Hawken, just because I. Know a few of the guys and I used to be a proud Hawken parent

Wickliffe I, so much want them to succeed

Glen Oak (4)

In the words of Pyschodad $V$M whom else

Tuslaw (18)They have been flying a little under the radar

Garfield just because they will only be scoring four runners

Fairless 13th at Legends counts for something

Does anyone know how the north coast league meet turned out. I can’t find any results on line or in the newspaper. Like division winners or top couple of finishers. I know Seymour of SJA won the girl’s overall I think ...

Garfield boys go to Trumbull, not GlenOak. Also, I have no idea if it will affect any particular team, but I noticed that all NE District DII and DIII boys soccer 2nd round games are scheduled for 3pm on Saturday. Some XC teams that share athletes could be missing a key contributor or 2.

My picks for DIII boys at GlenOak
1. East Canton - I think they have enough to win it all at NTR.
2. Rootstown - Not great up front but very deep compared to everyone but EC.
3. Norwayne - If they put 3 or 4 in the 18s, it'll be more than enough to be 3rd here.
4. Canton CC - Good, bad, or ugly, they always manage to overcome inconsistency to advance to regionals.
Other teams with a chance to qualify would be East Palestine whose top 3 could make it interesting and United who beat Canton CC early in the season. Admittedly, this is a pretty weak draw after the top 2 teams.

Individual Winner: Snellenberger, East Canton

My picks for DIII girls at GlenOak:
1. Black River - A reliable frontrunner and enough quality behind her should lead the Pirates to some not-so-buried treasure.
2. East Canton - The Hornets always make a good showing at the district meet.
3. Canton CC - Much like the boys, the Lady Crusaders always find a way to advance to the regional. I'm going with my gut on this one.
4. East Palestine - They have beaten Lutheran West a few times this season including what was essentially a dual meet at the Malone Invite on this district course.
There are 6 teams here battling for 4 spots. St. Thomas Aquinas and Lutheran West are also very capable of advancing with good team performances. LW has an excellent frontrunner who could give their team a much-needed cushion over EC and CCC, but LW also needs big runs from the back half of their varsity. LW has the added bonus of a championship head coach as does St. Thomas Aquinas. My concerns regarding St. Thomas Aquinas relate to whether or not their team is healthy right now. I have a feeling that 1 of their top 2 runners is done for the season with an injury. The other has not finished a race since Saturday Night Lights and may not have even started these past 2 weeks. Their #3 also suffered a DNF at the Stark County Meet 2+ weeks ago. If 2 of their top 3 race and finish, I think they would advance.

Individual Winner: Groppe, Lutheran West

My picks for boys DII at GlenOak:
1. St. V-M - Clearly the best of the bench.
2. Tuslaw - Lacking some depth due to various things (injuries and whatnot) but still plenty good enough to beat all but St. V-M.
3. Fairless - A shaky 5th, but I like what their 2-4 runners did on Tuslaw's challenging course at the PAC-7 Meet.
4. Chippewa - It'll be tight with Lutheran West and Coventry, but I'm putting all my chips on the Chipps.

Individual Winner: Schultz, Black River

My picks for DII girls at GlenOak:
1. St. V-M - Same story as the boys.
2. Marlington - The Lady Dukes' (are they the Duchesses?) team performances have been all over the place this season. They didn't have a great day at the NBC meet, so I expect them to run well this week. They usually perform well at the district.
3. Hoban - The Knights are a newcomer to the DII Malone/GlenOak district, so they might be easy to overlook.
4. Tuslaw - They won't "wow" you from afar, but they work their way through the field and get the job done.
5. Fairless - After qualifying for state last fall, injuries have plagued this team. They still have enough to advance to regionals.
Spots 2-5 could finish in a different sequence, but these are the 5 teams that should qualify. The other teams are a few steps behind.

Individual Winner: Pumneo, Fairless

My picks for boys DI at GlenOak:
1. Jackson - Too much speed and depth.
2. GlenOak - Great pack but not enough speed to challenge Jackson.
3. and 4. Lake and Hoover - These 2 teams are rather interchangeable. Whichever is more dialed in will be 3rd, and the other will be 4th.
5. Cuyahoga Falls - I can't tell if the Black Tigers have an injury, or if they've been resting a different runner each week. If they're healthy, they might be the best bet to snag the 5th qualifying spot. If not them, then Perry. Louisville is another team to watch, but their 5th will make it hard for them to advance.

Individual Winner: Moore, Lake. He's hot right now, and Jackson's top 2 can concede the top spot without hurting their team's chances.

My picks for DI girls at GlenOak:
1. Jackson - Their depth is hard to ignore.
2. GlenOak - They could pull off something special on their home course, or they could be waiting for something even more special at Boardman.
3. Perry - The Panthers probably wish they could bottle up Saturday's performance that won them the Federal League championship, but I like where they're heading.
4. Louisville - The Leopards made a good run on this course at the County Meet. They could do it again.
The gap between the top 4 teams and everyone else is rather wide at this point. It would take a great effort from another team to knock out any of these 4 teams.

Individual Winner: Bartolone, Perry

Girls D3

Medina(3)

Gilmour welcome back to Medina Lancers
Independence they will have two good runners up front..which should mean a lot
Elyria Catholic. No front runners needed..they have no liabilities
Kirtland they do have two big numbers in the back...I don’t know..

Trumbull

McDonald come on who else but McDonald ...in a landslide
Maplewood they should be an easy runner-up
Badger if they can run like they did before Boardman
Berkshire the Badgers ran well at CVC ....and because they have history

Glen Oak

St Thomas they have a few horses up front and that should be enough..if they are healthy or dnf

Black River Heath up front could lead them to the district title

I’m picking East Palestine then Rootstown

North Coast league results are on runner's edge race timing. Is Rulison from Beaumont hurt? I see she didn't run and was beat by her 2 teammates last time out.

Trumbull Boys DII:
Salem seems to be peaking at the right time for the District just like last year when they topped Poland. Poland looks strong however and is probably the favorite. South Range is the dark horse here. Are they good enough to pull the upset? As you said previously, Berkshire should also be in the mix. Here's hoping that Salem doesn't peak to soon and has a better showing at regional this year and moves onto the state meet. I know they were very disappointed last year.

I also like Tuslaw, especially on the girls side. They ran at our little mid-week meet back in early September, and they struck me as a well-disciplined, deliberate team that had clear goals in mind.

Rulison was walking around in a boot at the NCL meet. Was told she has a really bad shin splint and her coach did not want to race her on that course and risk further injury. Was told she should be ready to go for districts.

Should be a good girls d2 race to watch at LCCC this weekend. Will Isabella Payne from CVCA be competing? She has not raced since the Malone Invite.

It will be interesting to see if Rocky River boys will be able to take the wind out of the sails of both Bay and Woodridge, or if they will give them hope. I would not want to let either have any hope going forward.

Woodridge, Beaumont and CVCA girls are banged up a bit. There is little room for error.

Will also be interesting to see how many individuals come out of LCCC not on qualifying teams.

Boys Lorain D2
1.Rocky River, so very good at all 5 spots.
2.Woodridge, top 2 keeps them ahead of Bay.
3. Bay, very small spread 1 to 6 may have them close.
These three well ahead of the rest
4. Fairview should be clear of 5th
5. Tell me, I don't have a guess.

Girls D2
?? So many top teams, at least 7 deep
CVCA, Woodridge, Beaumont, top 3
I agree with PD about Cloverleaf, I'll put them at 4th
Bay, Padua, Hathaway Brown, next 3??
One or a few points may separate 4 or 5 teams to get out

Looks like Woodridge, Beaumont, CVCA and Padua are all nicked up on the girls side. Little margin for error. Tallmadge did not develop 3-5 like I thought they might be able to or we'd have another team to worry about. Looks to me like the first 3 teams out would probably make it out of the other District sites.

I, agree Padua’s 6 and 7 runners are in the 22/23’s and they are more of a pack running squad with no depth. They haven’t run with their #3 Jenko in more then a month. Beaumont’s Rulison only has to be 60% in order for them to get the job done. If she doesn’t Ouch. I, don’t believe Woodridge has had their top 7 on the line together once all season. But, at least they have some kinda overall depth.

I have not looked at all the time schedules, but at LCCC the races start very late for a Saturday meet. I have never been a routine person, so 9am or 4pm never mattered to me. I do know people that do not like change to routine and being on a bus at 1pm instead of 8 am or eating at a different time then they are used to really throws them off. I had a pole vaulter at the state meet that could not handle being up so early in the morning while I had another that it didn't bother at all. I had no idea the one kid could not function until a 2nd cup of coffee and 3 hours of being awake before having any brain function. Does the odd time schedules at this point in the season ever have an affect on teams or runners?

When racing in the afternoon, it's possible to make the mistake of eating a light breakfast and then not eating anything again before race time. Sometimes, it's a case of bad judgement. Other times, it's a case of having to battle the nerves for a few extra hours which often causes we mortals to not feel like eating when we should.

We had a girl have that issue at the state track meet (collapsed right after finishing the 1600) years ago. She ran the afternoon session on an empty stomach. Another made that mistake at the XC district and collapsed twice in the final 200m before crossing the finish line. Had she DNFed, it would've been very close for the team to advance. Word from her parents was she didn't eat much of a breakfast due to nerves.

The district schedule at GlenOak is the same as the regional and state schedule. A couple years ago, the races were pushed back due to ACT, and boys DI didn't race until almost 5pm.

Bay Girls #6 runs 22:05, on a warm day, and they don't qualify for Regional. Seems to me that D2 girls CC in the NE is especially strong this year.

Well, my hats off to my folks. I thought they were in trouble, and on the brink of falling apart after Boardman. They somehow pulled themselves together, and managed to nab that 4th spot against tougher than expected opposition in Springfield, Lutheran West, Chippewa, and Fairless. And they pulled it off at a site we weren't too familiar with. Malone is the course we always do best on, our district being moved to Glenoak was a blow to us. My hat is off to my folks for getting through adversity and pulling off the threepeat. As Mr Miyagi, from Karati Kid once said, they have strong root. Go Comets.

My hat is off to my folks for getting through adversity and pulling off the threepeat. As Mr Miyagi, from Karati Kid once said, they have strong root. Go Comets.
Your Coventry kids must be slow learners. They had already raced GlenOak's course twice this year before today: Golden Eagle Invite and Malone.
