Taco MacArthur has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Jack and LeBron are the only acceptable answers. But what a hell of a list. I always forget Bobby Knight and and Cy Young are from Ohio.

Jack and LeBron are great answers. I respect your opinion and don't necessarily disagree.
However, to say they are the only acceptable answers is just too dismissive of the accomplishments (on the field as well as off the field) of many of the others on the list.
Besides those two, a great argument could be made for:
Paul Brown
Jesse Owens
Edwin Moses
Pete Rose

This is a topic that could keep bars open all night as the beer keeps flowing while the arguments keep going!

Jesse Owens overcame a lot to accomplish what he did in the Olympics. He really pissed off Hitler while doing it!

I'd add Owens and say it is those three and then everyone else.

Based on your defined terms, kind of glaring that Stanisława Walasiewicz is not even on the list.
Still a great list, difficult to choose just one!
