Dead Pool 2

5/8

Decent followup to Dead Pool though it seemed like we'd been there and done that before as we've already seen the foul mouthed wise cracking super hero in the 1st movie. The only inspired, laugh out loud scene for me was seeing the fate of the super hero team Dead Pool put together to fight the bad guys. It ain't pretty but it is funny.

Clown (Canada-2014)

Horror: Its a boys birthday and every little boy wants a clown right? Well, clown cancels but don't worry... dad to the rescue as he finds a clown suit and off he goes. This one started off a bit slow but it picks up and gets kind of creepy. There is something not right with that clown suit... lol, oh well... 5.0/8

A Sound of Thunder (2005)

Horror/Sci-Fi: A company send people to the passed to hunt dinosaurs. Should I rant? This one really insulted the watchers intelligence. They are not suppose to disturb anything or else a butterfly effect will occur. OK, well, just being there making noise will disturb and change things.... They go back 65 millions years but they would of had to go back way more than that to find dinosaurs. All animals are said to be extinct both in the wild and domestic when this movie takes place and yet one of the characters mentions playing with her dog. A change in the passed would cause a change in evolution, the humans changed last but in fact all things would change at the same time. There is so much in this film that is just flat out wrong I cringed while watching it..... the CGI was laughable. The darn dinosaur reacted the same regardless of its surroundings. The Indians did not see the people directly in front of them.... it was convenient for the script I guess... I am not wasting anymore time on this one as I could keep going for another hour or two... 2.0/8

Breakthrough (1950) - One of the military films I DVR'd during Memorial Day weekend. It is an average post war film with many of the cliches of that era. The unique thing about this film is that they carefully adjusted the contrast of the black and white footage to allow the liberal use of real war footage within the film. When you see a German soldier using field artillery to blow our guys to bits, that is a real German soldier blowing our guys to bits, not an actor on location.

It is a fairly good statement on the different types of command styles and is worth seeing by any "shave tail" for that reason alone.

Desolation (2017)

Horror: A woman, her young son, and a female friend go hiking in the forest. OK, there is a lot of gabble, well you know two women out in the woods (could of gotten really interesting if the kid was not there) but after that it gets a bit interesting... Fight or flight? This was a indie low budget but very well acted and I believe realistic character decisions. Slow start but builds up.... 6.0/8

Little Evil (2017)

Horror/Comedy: This one was filmed in Cleveland... if that is not scary enough poor Gary thinks that his new wife's 6 year old maybe the spawn of the anti-christ. It had its moments but not a huge fan of horror spoofs.... 4.5/8

Valhalla Rising 2009

Turned it on last night having no idea what it was about. Despite being surprised by this type of movie it kept us intrigued and we enjoyed it in a bizarre way. The music and cinematography were good and Mads Mikkelsen played a great part for a bad azz one eyed death mute.

15:17 to Paris - Loved the story, but hated the production. Eastwood's experiment, to have the three heroes play themselves was an interesting idea, but it worked better when Audie Murphy played himself in To Hell and Back (1955). I also fault the screen play. Having three friends play themselves as they reenact a trip to Europe resulted in a lot of inane jabbering about everything from gelato to the sights of Italy. It was like eavesdropping on a bunch of friends about whom you are not all that interested.

The train scene was compelling and when the guys stopped talking and got down to business the film was much better.

Oceans 8.

Took the wife and her sisters and they loved it.
Sandra Bullock and the others did a nice job. Though it dragged on some went in not expecting much and enjoyed the movie.

4-8 The women more like 6-8

47 Meters Down (UK-2017)

Horror: OK, we have sharks and thankfully for the most part they are real sharks and not ScyFy CGI ones. A couple of chicks get stuck in a cage in water blah blah blah. I was expecting more, like more sharks but oh well.... not too bad since it was real sharks. Me like sharks!!! ... 4.5/8

Jeepers Creepers 3 (2017)

Horror: This one takes place in between the first and 2nd movies. For me, too many gimmicks and not enough story. The grandma was more scary than the Creeper.... well, they get another chance as they are making a #4... come on guys, we want scary don't sell out for a PG rating.... 4.0/8

Three Billboards- 5/8

It was good but I didnít love it. Good actors but overall it was kind of boring in my opinion. The ending sucked too.

The Great Wall (2016) ... 2.0/8

Are you kidding me... don't insult me with that $150,000,000 budget. This one was just ridiculous. I've tried two high budget films and I have had enough.... going back to my low budget indie horror flicks!

Totally agree. I wonder how many millions they had to throw at Matt Damon to appear in that piece of garbage.

Hans Solo - I thought the film was a fine "Space Opera". The performance of young Hans was spot on and the film depicted the things we knew had to be the case, like a young ill fated love, hardscrabble childhood and falling in with crooks and scoundrels.

I was a little taken aback by the racial stereotype of Lando Calrissian's prodigious ------.
