Pyeongchang Winter Olympics

Seems to be tons of interest here especially in curling. Can't wait for the ice dancing.

Shani Davis: power fist or kneel down if he wins gold? What's the betting line?

Shani Davis skips the opening ceremonies because he lost a coin flip to a women's luger to carry the flag: https://www.thedailybeast.com/team-u...8-winter-games

In a tweet ahead of the Opening Ceremony, Davis wrote: “@TeamUSA dishonorably tossed a coin to decide its 2018 flag bearer. No problem. I can wait until 2022,” finishing the tweet with the hashtag #BlackHistoryMonth2018

Lighten up Francis...

Good start to the Olympics. We couldn't even wait for the first medals to be awarded to start the political BS...

So we start the Olympics with a black Olympian inferring the coin flip was racist. We have a gay Olympian telling our Vice President to go eat it.

Liberals and their hatred on full display in Pyeongchang. What a disgrace!

Tell that to the Vice President who refused to stand during Korea's entrance

If you're blaming politics, there's more credibility if you're not playing politics and use full discloser. They skater said he'd meet with Pence AFTER the Olympics, he wants to focus on the Olympics and in that, he is right.

Davis is a known idiot. Has nothing to do with politics OR social movements.

The backlash against the Fox editor was well deserved. He had a fair point poorly made. If he'd simply stated he longed for the days when the performances are the focus instead of social issues and let others interpret as they wished, he'd been on solid ground. That was however, a case of a conservative bringing "politics" into the Olympic equation, not a "liberal."

Is there anything more out of step with the times than an Olympic Opening Ceremony? Enough with the lame Cirque du Soleil act and the propaganda of fake peace and unity. These things are nothing more than one big circle jerk for the host country.

What's it supposed to be?

They're certainly easy enough to skip. Not like anyone has to watch that to get to step B so what's the problem?

I would make it more about the Olympic Sports. To sports like the Luge or Biathlon this is their huge moment, maybe do a bit on these sports honoring past winners and preview what is to come. Still do the parade of nations along with the flag and torch things and then maybe a giant snowball fight to finish things off

More correctly and truthfully, VP Pence only stood for the USA team and flag.

Not sure how that makes America great, but it was undoubted a move not standing for the host country.

Well they did have the one guy who slid down the torch ramp. Thats kind of a luge.

Snowball fight would be good but these are pretty competitive people. Someone's going to get hurt.

Back of my mind, that's a tradition? It's expected. Something about someone in the past saying we don't stand for anyone or some such.

No way. The opening ceremony for Tokyo 2020 will be epic. Super Mario Bros. Other game and anime themes. The Japanese know how to do it. One of the best parts of the Rio games was the Closing Ceremony.

I view all this peace, love and understanding between North & South Korea as they host the Winter Olympics from a historical perspective. I never thought that in my lifetime I would see a re-staging of the 1936 Berlin Olympics! It's dazzling to watch.

And I'm sure the 20,000,000 starving slaves oops I mean "citizens" of North Korea will appreciate how the Olympics will help burnish the North's reputation!

I watched a documentary on NK called "Inside North Korea", those citizens really think they are fighting a war still with America. They believe they are starving because the money is being used to fight a war. They are seriously brainwashed.

How many NK athletes are at the Olympics? What will happen to them when they go home? Will they be allowed to tell people what they saw and experienced outside the hermit kingdom?

They probably send what they call "elites". They have it pretty good in NK. They have all the technology that we enjoy. Although the info they get is restricted.

The South has 112, North sent 22 athletes if I remember correctly.

Nah, I'm more fascinated by all the accolades being heaped on Rocket Man's sister by CNN! If there's one thing we've discovered about this Olympics it's that she's a STAR! Just like how Eva Braun wowed them back in 1936 Berlin!

But hey who cares about millions of North Koreans when the opening ceremony had such a cool synchronized drone display!

It is very odd how the Democrats are now fans of North Korea and are completely ignoring all of the atrocities committed by that regime...

You saying the pubs should feel S Korea is supposed to put on the somber because of what goes on above their northern border? GTFO. We played ping pong in China and looked where that led. The board rushclones want to put their heads in the sand because the country that actually has their azz on the line is looking to find a meeting ground.

Maybe the board clones might volunteer to lay their wrinkly azzes on the 38th parallel, put THEIR lives with their big mouths are?

Hey you know how it goes: if they don't get along with Trump they can't be all bad. And in spite of eastside_purple's case of historical amnesia, how anyone could embrace the odious and cruel North Korean regime is beyond me yet here we are seeing it on our TV's.
