For clean up purposes there are two more songs by The Beach Boys , one by
Dylan (always) and one by the Beatles.

Don't be shy.

I'll do a little bit of clean up.

21. One of the coolest, most original, most thoughtful songs (all tied together at the end) ever made by The Boys -- "Rocky Raccoon". A true masterpiece by Mr. McCartney.

I can't believe, Bevo, that I can't get the one by Bobby Z.

Monclova is correct on The Beatles' Rocky Racoon. "Her name was 'Lil but everyone knew her as Nancy."

Bob's characters are in the title on the Dylan one.

I have one more guess, so I'll go with:

12. "Has a pretty little flower bed of white gardenias"
"The Little Old Lady from Pasadena", Jan & Dean (although the Beach Boys also popularized it)

ROCK ON!

OWK -12. I even rechecked this a little while ago because started to think it was Jan and Dean and you are correct.

We have a Dylan song and a Beach boys song left. The Beach Boy one is pretty easy. Remember we are talking about a person.

Dylan's is from one of his top albums (in the early 70's) and it's a good old style rambling story done as only Bob can.

Bevo,
Sorry, but I can't figure out which Beach Boys song is still left (number?).

The Beach Boy song is 9; did someone answer it?

Dylan's is 17.

I don't think anyone answered #9.
On Dylan's #17, I'm a blank.

Thanks for your help, my man.

When 9. was popular I went to an eighth grade dance and made out with a girl named Carol. Afterwards her older brother drove us and another couple around for a long time.

I believe we broke up the following Tuesday but it was wonderful for that fleetingly brief time. The girl of the other couple that fateful night was in the name of this song.

That's not a hint but it sure brings a smile to me.

15. pup - That's a deep dive find! Correct!! I just played this version and I just love the presentation. This song was on Blood On The Tracks; a reflective album from the mid - 70's that was a five star presentation and reflected Bob's recent split from his wife, Sarah. Check out You're A Big Girl Now, You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You're Gone, Tangled Up In Blue - all on this album.

The Beach Boys ' question remains; one of the easier ones, I thought.

Since your hints include a girl's name and the year, I'll take an educated guess:

9. Another hit by No. 8; featured the wrecking crew players of Glen Campbell, Carol Kaya, Hal Blaine and even Daryl Dragon.
"Help Me, Rhonda", America's Band

ROCK ON!

Diva - while it is true I was feeling good vibrations - that is not correct.

OWK - You are Columbo with your educated guess - It is Help Me Rhonda and for the first time in a long time, you all have answered everything.

I'll have another quiz soon and it will be announced before being posted.

I wanted to mention something about my ultra sound today at The James at OSU. When the young ultra sound lady was finished she asked my if I had My Chart - the online portal for checking appts., test results, etc. I said I did and she said the results should be on in a couple of days.

We left at 9:30, got home at 11:00 and I thought I'll just see if I had anything else posted from them.

And not only were the test results there but also the doctor's analysis. The results beat me home! For what it's worth and to me, it's a lot, everything was the same as last Dec. - that's good.

Bevo - First of all, glad to hear that your test results are the same as they were last December. That's great news! It's also hard to believe just how advanced technology is these days. Your results were online before you got home? Amazing!

Now for the "rest of the story" about my educated guess concerning "Help Me, Rhonda". As I previously mentioned, due to your hints I knew that the Beach Boys song was a girl's name and popular in 1965 (the year I graduated from high school). Well, it was beautiful Friday night in the spring of '65 and I was driving through the North Hill section of Akron and really boppin'. I was on my way to pick up a date and my high school days were over, so I was in a great mood. As "Help Me, Rhonda" blared on my radio, I heard a police siren. Yep, I got busted! I've only had a few tickets in my life, but this was my first one. I was clocked at 42 mph in a 25 mph zone. Not only did I have to pay a fine, but (since I was under 18), I had to attend "Friday Night at the Movies" (the weekly driving education class that was required at that time).

We've mentioned many times how songs remind us of past times. Well, "Help Me, Rhonda" conjures good memories for you, but not for me. I really do like the song, but almost every time I hear it, I can still imagine that police siren in the music. Oh well, at least it helped me finish up a trivia quiz on the AARP Thread.

ROCK ON!

You should have pulled some of your basketball cred on him. "Do you know who I am"?

Yeah, you're that smart ### basketball player from Firestone. Let me take some of that "Zip" out of ya"!

You know as a teen here in the sticks my friends and I spent way too much time "country road crusin' and drinkin'". I can't tell you how utterly scary it was when a Wyandot County Sheriff car would fall in behind us and follow us for what seemed like miles. Never got stopped under those circumstances. Sheer terror.

I am not proud of any of that behavior. I have told my kids stories that even I don't believe about what I didn't do - while everyone my age else was.

I had a mother once chew me out for bird dogging her daughter with these words, "I hope you have a kid just like you someday; better yet I hope you have a daughter with someone like you around". Pretty rough, but she had some serious juju going on because I ended up with one of each.

I've always said it's better to be a smart ### than a dumb ###. Also, it was St. Vincent, not Firestone. I think you had Chrissie Hynde on your mind (again).

Ah, the good old days! It's really amazing we survived, isn't it?

ROCK ON!

Of course, St. V's! I knew that. You and that other guy.

And, "yes" for many of us it is purely fate that allowed most of us to survive.

Where were you in '62 = Catch phrase for the film American Graffiti

My Mom and youngest sister saw this movie together, when they left the theatre,
my sister told me that Mom lightly back-handed her on the sholder and (I quote)...
"When I see your brother (reference to me), I'm going to smack him, because now I
know what he was up to on those Saturday nights"...

Here's a trip down memory lane... (this guy does a nice job, he's from the South
but so much of what he captures is sooooo... familiar )...

Well, I must say that it is none other than Booker T. & the MGs doing "Green Onions".

Yes it is... PS: I'm a MG... (but not one of Booker's)

My actual initials are MTG. I got a 'T' and the 'MG"

Green Onions was #58 of the Top-100 for the year 1962.

The video mentions the Cuban Missile Crisis...

Did you know John Scali was from Canton...

He helped to secure the secret negotiations with USSR to resolve the crisis.

wiki...
At 1:00 pm EDT on October 26, John A. Scali of ABC News had lunch with Aleksandr Fomin, the cover name of Alexander Feklisov, the KGB station chief in Washington, at Fomin's request. Following the instructions of the Politburo of the CPSU,[82] Fomin noted, "War seems about to break out." He asked Scali to use his contacts to talk to his "high-level friends" at the State Department to see if the US would be interested in a diplomatic solution.

http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/jascali.htm

In the mini-series "The Missiles of October" Bobby Kennedy tells Scali
that he has to keep it all under wraps and... 'Sorry John, no Pulitzer".

Good stuff and thanks for posting. 1962 was a good year for music. As unusual as it might sound, "Strangers On The Shore" is one of my all-time favorites.

As far as "blue jeans" songs, I can add Neil Diamond's "Forever In Blue Jeans".

ROCK ON!

What he said about Strangers On The Shore. Sad yet hopeful song, hints at endings and beginings - like Washington Square; very mood creating.

Thanks - you know the drill: you are only as "good" as your last numbers.

A friend ask yesterday how I was doing and I thought for a second and then said I have a doctor for every organ in my body - somewhat exaggerating.

I was going to use this as #5 in the countdown but no video of any babes in jeans.
