Lorain has had a great run, Moeller is on a whole different level.

Hard to imagine this being much of a game when it is all said and done. But that is why they lace 'em up...

After watching a wild weekend of NCAA basketball, I am afraid to even venture a guess as to the winner of any game ever again!

Followed by a 30 point collapse. What's going on in Cinci? FINISH!

Ugh, NCAA's fell quickly into the not so interested category.

I still know a couple of kids playing so I will just follow them and hope for other implosions to add some spice to what I think will be dubbed "blow out weekend" for the sweet 16.
I know nothing about Lorain, but Moe looked great at Xavier this week

Can someone fill us in on what makes Moeller so good. Looking for some insight between the two teams rather than Big Moe by 20.

I would probably start off with their 6'10 athletic post player that's going to Texas. He's a total game changer with his shot blocking and altering ability in the paint.

Davenport (Wright State commit) might be the most undervalued signed prospect in the state this year, ala Graves for St. V's last year. Those two alone would wreck a ton of teams. I think their team this year is unquestionably better than last year's team that lost to Jackson in the finals. If McBride (WVU commit) weren't out with injury, IMO they'd have rolled teams by 25 points through the district and regional, and probably as well as at least one state game.

-Better overall talent
-Larger size
-Longer bench
-More tactical options offensively and defensively
-More significant and sustained defensive pressure

The last point is the most significant. I do not think Lorain will be able to handle the pressure they are put under by Moeller. They are long, they are athletic and they make plays on the defensive end of the floor. The outcome remains to be seen, but if they can give Springfield and Wayne fits on the defensive end of the floor, I struggle to see how Lorain could win.

But anyone who gets in the ring has a punchers chance. And I'd like to see them make a game of it.

The biggest singular difference between this year's Moeller squad and last years is their offensive fire power. Mostly known for their deliberate offensive sets and smothering defense, this team will run and is far more athletic than last year. Dribble penetration usually results in an altered shot or kick out due to the presence of the 6'10'' guy in the middle. The remaining 4 players usually guard against the 3 ball since they know the big guy has the inside well defended. I just don't know how teams that lack the size of this Moeller team are going to be able to score or rebound on a consistent basis. They are big, athletic, well coached and Oh Yeah, they can score. Should be a few memorable throw downs as they get out in transition and allow the big guys to do their thing. GBM

Interestingly the Moeller player with the most experience playing in the state tournament is Pfreim. He played significant minutes in the semis and finals last year and the prior year as a freshman played in the semi finals for Roger Bacon.

Since 1923 State semi-finals and title game...
95 years

Large school classification there have been 285 games
there have only been 28 games that hit the 20 point difference bubble
that is less than 10% (.098)

20+ difference (S=semi T=title)
First 1923 (S) Day.Stivers (43) / Marietta (20) D = 23

Last
2014 (S) Lakewood St.Edward (89) / Clv.East-Tech (64) D = 25
2014 (S) Upper Arlington (74) / Trotwood-Madison (49) D = 25

Widest margin
1988 (T) Cin.Woodward (107) / Col.Linden-McKinley (70) D = 37
(note: only 7 games hit the 30+ mark)

School with the most / Can.McKinley (4) 3 in the 30+ / Middletown (3)

5 schools had 20+ margins in both the Semi & Title games in a given year.
1935 Ak.North
1956 Middletown
1959 Clv.East-Tech
1964 Dayton Belmont
1988 Cin.Woodward

note: 2 schools have been on the wrong end of stick the most times...
Can.McKinley (3) Clv.East-Tech (3)

Moeller has been in control most of the way but Lorain keeps battling back. Certainly hasn't been a 20 point game as some had predicted.

Moe looks very sloppy. They've been terrible from the line. Also, Davenport is hurt. Hopefully he can play close to 100% tomorrow.

Lorain played a really good game. This could have been really interesting at the end if they'd shot a little bit better at the line.

Lorain wasn't expected to be here this year with a brand new starting five. Their best players are all juniors or sophomores so hopefully they'll use this experience well and have a shot at making it back again next year.

I don't think either team played particularly well, though each had their better halves opposite of the other team, Moeller in the first, Lorain in the second.

If Moeller plays like that tomorrow night, they will lose.

Poor free throw shooting on both sides. Disgraceful to be perfectly honest.

Tip of the cap to Lorain, they got up off of the canvas midway through the second quarter and made a game of it. Not sure if the nerves got to Moeller or what, but one half of basketball won't get it done tomorrow night.

They have a lot of heart.

Grant and TPL both have big upsides. I think TPL has a lot of untapped potential because he has such great physical tools.

They have a coach who believes in them and there is mutual respect there.

I think all of the ingredients are there, if you can keep them together and the chemistry is working.

Not sure what happened this year with all of the folks leaving the team, but it might have been a blessing. The core that remained obviously has talent, they lost in Districts as Sophs, Final 4 this year, next year you have to think they'll be a threat to go back to state.

I think they did their city proud.

Agreed, Titans left it all on the floor. Congrats to them on a great season.
