Alliance D-2 District Rankings (Off-Season #2)

I love doing these rankings, but as it has been pointed out before, they are just for fun. To any wrestlers who read these and feel that they are ranked too low, you may be right.
I am bound to be wrong on many of the rankings, but fortunately they have absolutely no impact on how anyone will finish at any tournament this season or any other year.

I started moving wrestlers up and down from their previous year’s weights. The new weights are partially based off of where they’ve been wrestling in the off season, though a lot of it is pure guesswork at this time.
Please let me know if anyone has inside information about new weights, schools, or wrestlers that they think should be added.

I’ve tried shifting the wrestlers around from schools that changed divisions. Please let me know if any are wrong, or if I’m forgetting any schools/wrestlers.

* = unsure about participation

-The schools of the incoming freshmen are based off of the previous Yappi thread. Please let me know if any are wrong or have changed.

Team:
1. Canfield

3. CVCA

6. Alliance
7. Norton
8. Louisville

Any of the top 4-5 teams could earn this district title. The district definitely gained some significant strength by adding both Aurora and Louisville who will be top 10 teams at this district.

I’m still not sure how Canfield will squeeze everyone into the back half of their line-up, but they’ll be strong from at least 160-220. Hopefully, they can find a way to work in wrestlers like Scheetz and Kostelic who could score at the district level if they find a home in the line-up.

Lake Catholic reloads with middle school state placers Hivnor and Ungrady. If Dakota Ryan returns to they team they could have another placement caliber wrestler in what should be a tight team race.

CVCA may not be a great dual meet team (though they’ll be at least a good one), but their top end talent will have them high on the leader boards at some of the best tournaments in the state.
If Holman and Walker develop into district finalists, we could see this young Royals team claim a district crown.

SVSM is another team like Canfield that will have a great deal of depth and cluster in the back end of their line-up.
Transfer David Johnson has state placement potential, and both Heath and Crissman have been wrestling 182 in the off season. Ward wrestled 182 last year and won a sectional title before missing the district tournament. State qualifier Musci could be the same weight as Johnson while Stecz could be the same weight as Ward at 220.

A special thanks to Boro Fan for all the insight into the weights of the wrestlers, Baum’s Page and Jake’s Wrestling for all of the results that they provide, and to any of the other wrestling nerds that actually read these things.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Joey Batt graduated in 2014. The one that's still in high school is Josh.

I believe your correct. Not that last seasons district was "rinky dink", but with the returning wrestlers and the addition of Louisville and Aurora next years district will be tad more "meaty". Just my opinion.

I really enjoy reading these rankings. I think the district title will go to Canfield, Lake Catholic, or Louisville. Canfield and Lake Catholic both have studs with solid credentials. I have been watching Louisville the past couple years, and during this offseason. I have been very impressed with the talent they have. They qualified 6 wrestlers to Fargo. They may be a dark horse in the race at a this district. It's going to be very interesting to watch. My prediction is: 1. Canfield, 2. Louisville, 3. Lake Catholic.

Will go with Canfield or Lake Catholic. However, I believe CVCA will out point them both the following weekend.
