"King Arthur: Legend of the Sword"

Rate and review the movie "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword"

Robbed of his birthright, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy - whether he likes it or not.

"Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony.

You can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!

I mean, if I went around saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!"

I would like to see a good film about the true "Arthur", a 5th century Romano-Briton who fought off the Northern Germantic invaders from Juteland, Saxonany, and other locals. I hope that film gets made someday. From what I am hearing this film is tanking at the boxoffice.

It sounds like you probably didn't like it, but the Clive Owen version is pretty much that.

I quite enjoy that version.

Wanted to see a movie and only movies to choose from was pirates and King Arthur. Pirates did not get as good of rating as King Arthur and burned out on the pirate series. I was not expecting alot, but not sure why it didn't do better. The whole family liked it and wood see a sequel, but since it lost alot of money I doubt it would happen. I give it a 7.5

Just saw it last weekend. Not the best I've seen, but not the worst. Certainly breathtaking in the perspectives and scale. I was curious where the elephants came from.

Just too many things going on, too many high-speed fighting edits, and two many anachronisms. The wife and I had trouble reading the first captions that supposedly explained what had happened before the opening of the movie.

How the sword ends up in the stone is a bit macabre and/or grisly to think about, but it was an interesting touch.

It was fun, but too funny to appreciate the medieval history of the story.

Some good acting performances in there. I thought Jude Law was excellent in the villain role. Eric Bana did a great job as Arthur's father, quite a change from playing the villain in the 2009 Star Trek re-boot. The lady playing the "mage" character was different.

An admirable ambition, but as I understand it, there is simply not enough historical info on Arthur to make it a "true" film", and you'd end up with nothing more than an A&E documentary on how things were in Ye Olde pre-Medieval England.

Maybe one day they will find out more about him, and you'll get your wish.
