Was announced this week that Saegester is stepping down to spend more time with his family.

This should have happened in the beginning of this past season.

Yes it should have. And a few players shouldn't have been allowed to play this past season either.

Agreed with both of the above posters. This should have happened several months ago.

I believe so. And the black eye from the hazing.

After a year or two with his family I bet he will resurface someplace else.

Unless he takes a few years off and resumes coaching at Tri-Village he is done IMO. Outside of his scenario, I'm unaware of any other superintendent that is a head coach of a team within their district. The hazing incident provided many good reminders as to the issues that can arise when administrators are also coaches. I can't believe anybody else would be willing to bring him on as a coach in an administrative role after what happened under his watch this year.

Could he still be the supe at TV and then coach someplace else like Eaton for example? I don't know if he lives in that district or not but I have seen him at elementary games there to watch his kids I am assuming.

What did they lost to Graduation? How do these young men look for the future basketball wise? If the right guy is hired can Tri Village step right back up and be a top level program, or will this be more of a process?

If it is just Tri Village kids with no open enrollment they will be about what Franklin Monroe is on average. If a new coach can continue to draw a few open enrollment players such as the point guard from Tri County North or the kid last year from Eaton then sure they can continue to make runs at a title from time to time.

Sounded like normal hazing. School north of Athens had a hazing incident. Worse than this. The school made the kid go to a school far away.

So what do they have coming back in Tri Village kids or open enrollment kids who are already at the school(From last year's team and junior high, jv, freshman, etc) ?. Do you expect any new transfers in or out?

What exactly is "normal" hazing? They weren't making the underclassmen carry their gear or bring in snacks to school.

They held the kids down, rubbed their genitals on their faces, and penetrated some with foreign objects.

They shouldn't have been allowed to finish the season. In some places they would have been expelled. Criminal charges possibly.

But Sags handed down what....an 8 game suspension? And they only served about half of that (just in time for flying to the hoop). Ol' Sags failed on many levels here. The student body and some of the community recognized this and did not support the team this year. THEY knew this was all BS.

I wouldn't expect any new transfers with a new coach coming in and Sags still as the super. They lost their best 3 players. Their PG is decent but can't carry the team IMO. The rest of the varsity was average.

With the drama there I would think another team in the area would benefit from anyone wanting to transfer. Someplace like FM where they have an established program with a very good coach.

I guess in theory that's possible, although he should probably consider himself fortunate he still has a day job after this fiasco.

Find out June 6th when OHSAA releases the divisions for basketball.

My guess is yes as it looks like they dropped 17 boys from the previous enrollment cycle. The unknown is the competitive balance formula and how many of their kids get multiplied.
