Hollwager and Byrne gamed the system during Holtreys problems for their own benefit to coach their kids.
Why don't schools vett their coaches or hire someone to advise them, their choices are often poor.
Too bad what happened to Troy Holtrey they have had no one since Gerald Saunders who could carry his jock.
Yea....gaming the system so your kid gets playing time, starts, has plays run for them while the team loses and better players either sit or quit never works out. dragon knows this all too well.

Why don't schools vett their coaches or hire someone to advise them, their choices are often poor.
Too bad what happened to Troy Holtrey they have had no one since Gerald Saunders who could carry his jock.
The reason that schools don't vett their coaches better is because they can't in many cases. They are non athletic people making athletic decisions. And most schools aren't going to pay an outside firm to hire a part time employee or an employee that works on a stipend. The job means more to us than it does to the administration in a lot of situations.

A schedule this difficult was never contemplated earlier, kudos to Mike for having a set to do this.

QUOTE=warrior12;6748820]I heard today that Holweger resigned. Any thoughts on who the new coach could be and why did he resign?[/QUOTE]

Pending Springboro Board Of Education approval ( formality ) Coach Kyle will lead the 2017-18 Springboro Panthers Boys Varsity basketball Program. Wishing Kyle and his family the very best.

Good man, glad things broke his way.

Returning Letterman : Championship Potential
Coach H did not leave because the cupard was bare.
Other than 2016 best athletes in Holweger era
This group lacks a point guard. maybe we can
get Alec Holtry a 5th year due to iinjury !! LOL

Coach Kyle has coached them all as he has
been in the program since 2005.

Michael Berner 6'7" Junior ( Major contributor)
Thomas Arrington 6'6" Senior (Starter)
Garrett Powell 6'5" Junior
Noah Kelly 6'4" Senior (Major contributor)
Kaleb Tabor 6"2" Senior (Starter - SG)
Zach Lavin 6'3" Senior ( Major Contributor)
Andrew Wiederman6" Senior ( top 7 last year)
Conner Greevey 6'1" Junior ( great shooter)

600 + boys have been going through Basketball Summer Camps.
Feeder System in place second to none thanks to Jay Byrne years ago-boys and girls.

The last thing they lack is a point guard. They have 2 very strong candidates who will defend their butts off and give it everything they have to win. Those are the types of kids Coach Youker loves.

BTW, more like thanks to John Emanuel for leading the Springboro Youth Basketball feeder system- not Jay Byrne. Give credit where credit is due.

2017-18 Coach Kyle Youcker
Coach Holtry was 76-55 during the 6 seasons he coached in the GWOC

So during the " Daddy Ball " Years in 5 Seasons Boro is 78-44
THat's the facts. That's Coach Byrne and Holweger'sr contribution in the GWOC years.
And winning is what gets you hired; Great job Holtry,Byrne & Holweger

Go Kyle & Go Panthers

It is what it is, you never know who will step up and answer the bell. November is a good ways off, plenty of time for someone to seize the position.

Thumbs up Point Guard must step up--whoever that might be.

Coach Kyle must develop a true pont guard to go along
with one of the deepest, tallest, athletically talented front lines in school history. ( 6"4" Kelly, 6'6" Arrington, 6'7'Berner, and 6'5' Powell )
Tabor and Grevey can shoot the rock from the SG position,
with the best of them. Others on here are more confident and possibly more knowledgable about the point guard position. As stated by me this is the
only position where there is no experience and I don't see a replacement for Alec or Christian based on the JV and Frosh roster. Players are made in the off season months and ias " Just Watching " stated, a lot can happen between now and November. Depth will be similar: to the 18-5 squad which was 8 deep.

With : Lebanon, Miamisburg, Alter, Dunbar, Wayne, Springfield, Centerville, Beavercreek and Northmont, and an improved Middletown Darnell Hoskin coached team, I look forward to another great season of Boro Hoop. A very special thanks to Jay Byrne who stepped up for the 2013 season and coched the Division 1 Ohio Player Of The Year Maverick Morgan, GWOC Conference Player Of The Year, won the GWOC and won the District Championship And yes John Kyle Byrne contributed on this squad. Last I heard Jay was ringing the cash regester @ Milton Donuts. Check out his record @ Middletown- a truly great coach.

The past is documented, and like you and others I wish Coach KY the very best as he writes the next chapter of Springboro Panthers Hoops.
And I thank Troy and Mike as you follow your sons Alec & Drew,as they compete for Goshen 9 Basketball )and Furman ( Baseball ) Throw in Ashleigh who has committed to play Div 1 Volleyball and you may just have the reason why these two great coaches remain true to themselves and are retired from coaching.Alec and Drew had great Boro Hoops careers. ( In spite of their Dad's ) LOL
