It will be exciting to find out. I hope you're wrong, but we will find out in due time. I think their young coach can build chemistry and they may be just scrappy enough to make a little noise. Clearly McDonald has too much talent for most of the area to compete with, but I think mineral ridge can hang with anybody else. I will have a better idea after tomorrow night.

I watched one of the best basketball games I have ever witnessed tonight between mineral ridge and east palestine. East Palestine outlasted mineral ridge in a shootout, but I was very encouraged by what I saw from the Rams. FWIW EP was also very impressive. I stand by my prediction that mineral ridge will be a sleeper pick this season. I thought mineral ridge looked to be in fantastic shape and ran the floor very well. They looked very comfortable in their game plan and just real 2 lulls that I can remember that ended up being the difference in the game. Both teams handled the well very effectively for the first game of the season and mineral ridge has some really talented young guards.
Congratulations to both teams, and thank you for playing such a hard fought game
Does anybody know if EP travels to mineral ridge later in the year? If so I would be very excited to see a grudge match.

YOU were at the game? If so, you would have known it was at Ridge. Why would EP travel twice to Ridge?

I was pretty impressed with South Range last night. They got up and down the floor, had a good rotation of kids and played fast. Not sure if that was the best they can play, but they'll be a tough game for anyone in the ITCL this season IMO.

McDonald beat United 92-60 last night and looked good. Very impressed by the freshman sniper who nailed 5 or 6 3 pointers.
Just read the capsule for the game, freshman Zach Rasile hit 8 3 pointers last night en route to 26 points in his first varsity game.

I never said the game was at East Palestine. In the process of typing I wrote the teams in the wrong order at the end. I can edit my post if that would make you happier. Yes, I am aware that the games are probably a home and home. Although FWIW, I can give examples of this not being the case, especially going back a number of years

Bummer based on the account from the first game. Lisbon has EP this Friday...looking forward to seeing them as well. I'd expect EP to challenge SR for the Red Tier...lots of athletes there.
Who does everything think will give McD their toughest game? I might have to catch that one...

No one will challenge McD in that tier, I think their toughest games will be South Range, Springfield, and EP if they even play them this year.
That EP v. Lisbon game should be a very good contest, who does McD and SR play?

Mickey D plays EP. Dogs should be a formidable opponent for those invincible Blue Devils as some post here.
Boomer, wait by the concession stand. I will buy you your hot dog. Then again, NOT!

Just have to see how Lisbon bounces back from a rough game at SR.

McDonald plays columbiana Friday night. Don't know anything about Columbiana's team this year but I believe they were decent last year? As for being invincible, no one is saying that, stop building a strawman. Though I do think this team may very well end up better than last seasons squad. They looked quite good on Tuesday and were missing 2 players (one to injury, other has to wait due to transfer rules) that will be valuable contributors to the team.

McDonald up 112-42 in the 4th, all reserves in now. Rasile would have had a chance at the ohsaa record of 16 3's if this was a competitive game, he finished with 33 points on 11 3's. Joey Raggazine also hit 30 points. This team is very very good.

The scary thing is they really only go 7 deep right now, they'll be adding 2 good players before the end of the year. The potential is crazy high for this squad. With only 2 seniors, next year looks even better too

Who is going to challenge them. They play Ridge on the 23rd. That should be a tough test. Then 1st half of Jan Devils play Niles, Wellsville and Girard. I know Wellsville will be good, I dont know about the other 2 teams.

Ridge lost their top 6 from last year, very doubtful that's competitive. Niles lost their all everything from last year and McDonald crushed them then. Girard, Wellsville, South Range, and Springfield will be the 4 games that'll be interesting

If they wanted to run up the score McDonald would've won by over 100 easily.

I'll sleep fine. What is your point? McDonald had 111 pts at the end of 3 Q's and the starters sat the whole 4th Q.

If s freshman had 33 points through 3 quarters, who would McDonald sub in for him?
I have a feeling this is the first in a long line of box scores like this for the blue devils.
Very similar to when crestview was beating every league opponent by 40 points a few years back on the gridiron.
very weak league, with one team who is a regional power if not favorite beating everyone else with ease.
McDonald should sleep just fine, if you don't like the results, work a bit harder..
......or you can create a new league and not invite them....just a thought..
