Thanks for the congrats Bengal! Yes the Baron is still alive. I believe he was helping Mike Moran at John Carroll at least through last year. He comes back home to the Viking Village for special events like the 2015 Hall of Champions event and some others.

I enjoyed watching Higgins over the weekend and wondered if he had any offers (sorry if I missed it somewhere in this thread).

Thanks MCM. I don't think Higgins has any offers yet. His dream as a child is to play at Michigan. That may or may not happen but at 5'9", Michigan will have to appreciate the whole package and body of work. Since Higgins has a 4.0 GPA and is a natural leader, our coach would love to see him at West Point (where the coach played) or Princeton. He's a special kid and I am sure the right opportunities will come to him in his senior year.

I believe they forgot to put his name on the coaching sheet. I believe that the same thing happened to Coach Turk. He was a freshman coach and an assistant coach on the varsity team. He was on the court, I saw him. However, pre-game, they did not announce him as one of th coaches despite clearly being down on the court. I believe from what I heard, Papa Kwas forgot to put their names on certain sheets.

Rollie is in the state championship picture that VASJ will hang in the school. Here is the link to the pictures

14 guys in street clothes. Those practices must be very busy having 29 guys in the gym.

You continue to show your ignorance. The two guys on the right in the middle row are the AD and Asst AD. The 4 guys on the left are student players and student managers, yes they wear suit jackets and ties. The 7 guys seated are coaches as is the young coach behind the two AD's. So 8 coaches for Freshman, JV, and Varsity, not out of the ordinary for a quality program.

You want to know a reason why Joe's is so prepared every year - open gyms. In the allowable mo this when they are home the varsity kids get to go up against Lighty, Parker, Gibson, Flannigan, Bragg, Ward, Barns, Pardon, etc. The former players come in a beat on the younger kids. There is no team they will play all season that is tougher then the games where the alumni beats the tar out of them.

Hearing rumors that Babe is taking a college job but the guy didn't know where. Any truth? Cannot think of where that would be but if I had to guess, and assuming that he staying in the area, it would likely be as an assistant at CSU or Akron or the head job at Carroll. Just wondered if the rumors had legs . . . this guy is not what I would call reliable but it sounded plausible.

He's been approached for college positions, head and assistant, several times over the last few years but wants to stay. He really likes working with the high school kids. His boys are young and I am not sure he wants to be away that much. I don't think its true. I think head coach at West Point would be the only job he would seriously consider.

Would he want to give up the chance to coach his kid in a few years to coach college - not sure. He has had some bumps in the road the last few years and Joe's but he seems to have gotten past that. The Carroll job might be intriguing - but would he want to be away from his young family that much. He has said many times the VASJ jig is his dream job. I cannot see him chucking it all to be an assistant to anybody.

The JCU job was filled by Pete Moran today. Scratch that job off the list.

your the man Chad!!!!

Could not meet a nicer more well spoken young man than Chad Porter.Very proud to have him representing the Viking Village. And his sidekick Vincent in the backround who sings with Chad in that video. He is an exemplary Viking as well.Great friends.

As an update, I heard Coach Straub is now in Oklahoma City area with one of his children. He is looking to help out a team like he did with Coach Moran at John Carroll University.
