I have a question about the Awards Banquet at this event. How many people get Distinguished Service Awards. There are 16 districts in Ohio according to the OATCCC. A district has to nominate someone for the award. My question is does OATCCC pick one or do all 16 get awards.

8 DSA, even districts even years, odd districts in odd years. All 8 recieve the award, handing out at the beginning of the banquet.

Run4Life, thanks for the information. Do the 8 folks getting the DSA say a few words when they receive their award. I'm getting the Region 14 award.

You are welcome, and thanks for your contributions to our sports btw. Congratulations on your award.

You will be presented the award by your district 14 representitive after a brief resume presented by one of the board members. Do to the length of the HoF presentations, you will not be given the opportunity to speech.

is there a list of the Hall of Fame inductees for 2019 anywhere? I can't understand why Ron Russo doesn't get in. He won four consecutive DI girls state team championships in cross country at Colerain H.S. His run at the girls DI state got underway in 1996 when they finished state runner-up to Beavercreek with 87 point. The reign of dominance took off from there. For four years his girls teams were untouchable. In 1997 his team won by 71 points over Kent Roosevelt, by 57 over Dublin Coffman in 1998, by 55 over Kent Roosevelt in 1999 and by 61 over over Hilliard Davidson in 2000. His brother Frank got in last year with his four boys state titles and six boys runner-up finishes with those totals coming over both cross country and track & field.

This years selections: Ed Barker – Scott Dorne.
Hall of Fame – Lamar Preyor , Robert Curtis, Stephanie Morgan, Obie Mauser, Leonard Truex, Jeff Sheets

Ron would need to be nominated, usually by the district rep that represents him, and have his resume ready for review by the OATCCC board of control. District reps may only have 3 nominations open at a time, and nominations are held for 3 years. If a nominated person is not selected in that 3 year period that person may be renominated.

I do not know if Ron had been nominated before now or not.. You might check with the Hall chairperson to see if he has or is, and if not anyone can complete the nomination, and if the dist 14 rep already has 3 one of the other members of the voting committee can hold the nomination.

I hope this helps.

I concur. Ron belongs in there with his brother. Both very accomplished. Winning a State team title just once is TOUGH. Winning FOUR of them...IN A ROW...says a lot about a winning culture having been built by a coach. Ron belongs in there.
