Yup. I already stated that.

All this talk about the ball hitting the hands make my right forefinger throb. Little league: bunting. Ball hit finger. Finger swells with blood. Finger bursts open, releasing said blood. Bauer-like gusher (to me). Butterfly band-aid. Lesson learned.

Carry on.

You quote a post in which I refer to

and refer to something "From the FED Casebook: ...... " with the batter swinging with the count at something and two ?

Not typically your posting style, Yappi ...... just saying....

Sorry, I was just trying to show that at no time are hands part of the bat. Even in a situation where someone hits a ball fair with their hands, it's still nothing more than a called strike.

Think about the hands this way. If you swing and the ball hits your hands or your foot, it's a strike. If you don't swing and the ball hits your hands or foot in the strikezone, it's a called strike. If the ball hits your hands or foot and you are not swinging and the ball is out of the strikezone, it's a HBP. Every time the pitched ball hits the batter, it's a deadball.

I'm pretty shocked that I've seen a half dozen umpires call this wrong, and four different coaches get screwed with minimal complaint, go be honest.

Each instance that I have seen has been an inside pitch to a batter crowding the plate hit in the fingers or back of the hand with no swing, called as a foul ball.

There are some calls I won't waste my breath arguing the call with certain umps. Just a few weeks ago, there was a pop up out where the ball hit the ground before the batter hitting the ball. I was the only person at the game that knew it was an out. They called it a dead ball. No big deal for fall ball.

Also a dropped third strike had a few people confused. They swung and the ball bounced off the ground straight into the catchers mitt. I yelled run. They said the catcher didn't drop it. The ump agreed with me on that one.

So how much rest does Chapman need now? I think it was 34 pitches. Guessing he is done for tomorrow and wondering how effective he would be in game 5 if necessary...

Chapman was sweating like crazy and looked pretty gassed. Hope it's long lasting.

And yes, it was a 'horrible loss'. Was that you I saw sitting next to Tito tonight? And, how good does the second game comeback look, now?

Let's get #3!

I hope you'd discussed it with the umpire so he knew going fwd. There were a number of times I did so after a game calmly so going forward he coild look it up and get it right. If u do so calmly well after the call happened they are receptive.

We once had a newer ump who warned every player who turned to the runners left shoulder to walk back to first sfter a hit. Of course, you need to make some sort of attempt even if slight. Simply pivoting on your left to walk bsck does not constitute an attempt

Yeah, the fact is that our pitching has held them to one run in the last 17 innings. That's usually good for two wins.

That said, Tomlin needs to be ON tonight if he does get the start.....

Chappy threw 34. It doesn't seem likely he'll get 5 outs again tonight.

The top of our order is pretty cold - odds say they have to hit sooner or later. Tonight would be just fine

If the batter was crowding the plate and the umpire determined the pitch was in the strike zone, he likely (correctly) called it a strike and the ignorant masses assumed it was called a foul ball.

If there were 4 strikes, you might have a point

Looks like we got bad or tired Trevor tonight. Still early, but Indians need to start hitting Severino.

Gonna be tough to win with automatic outs like Perez, Urshela, and Brantley in the lineup. Sucks that they left Diaz off the roster in favor of poopy Erik Gonzalez. Desperately need offense now that Edwin is out and Lindor and Jose aren't hitting

Red face

Well Francona blew this series. Clevinger, Tomlin and Salazar to choose from and start Bauer on 3 days rest.

Game 3 was a must win. Had a chance to skip Severino who we don't hit...now looking at a win or go home game which typically doesn't bode well for Cleveland teams.

Starting Bauer was a mistake, and I think it's been a mistake to roll with Urshela over Diaz, but game 3 was certainly not a must win, nor is tonight. They've got Kluber going at home next... I like our chances

I'm just a little confused on how he made it so easily. It seemed shallow enough that an above average HS arm could have thrown him out.

The defense is making silly errors today. They are still in the game and could win it but the defense just doesn't look good.

Funny thing is Urshela is in there for his defense. They could easily remove him from the lineup and put Kipnis back at second where he should be
