I think the cats will be 4-0 going into Canfield. Canfield is at home this year and lost a lot. We have a good chance there too. That week two game against crestview was the worst they played last season I believe. If the cats played decent they won that game by 20, but they pulled it out in the end. This year, i agree with Trev that the cats will have something to prove. Liberty is first though. Decent running back, quick qb and a really bad offensive and defensive line group.

Mr. Trashmouth and #1 braggart is proven wrong once again. He's so pathetic.
He's the only Lakeview poster on this site and a rather poor representation at that.

I think we're all enjoying the "winning".

Just proves that he’s the type of guy who only talks when Lakeview is winning, even when Struthers misses the playoffs or goes 5-5 you’ll still see most posters on here with input, he’s just Oscar the grouch lol

Looks like the Cats best shot at still making the playoffs ironicly rests with Campbell.
Fantastic 50 has Campbell a 2 point underdog to Newton Falls this week. If Campbell could somehow win that game, the L2 points would be enough to push Struthers ahead of Poland for the 8 seed... as long as Poland loses to Canfield.
Poland is projected to barely edge out Struthers for the final playoff spot, 15.45 to 15.42. Even though Struthers beat Poland earlier and they'll have a better record than Poland.

Other teams that could help Struthers sneak ahead of Poland are Liberty and Edgewood. Campbell is the most likely to win, though. Niles will tear Edgewood apart and Girard should roll over Liberty. But we'll see.

We can blame Jefferson and Campbell for going 0-10. Or Edgewood for losing to a D7 school. But if Struthers misses the playoffs, it's one them. That Crestview game will haunt everyone... if it doesn't already.
Struthers likely would've been the 5 or 6 seed if they'd won that game.

I still think 2018 should be regarded as a success, playoffs or not.
And 2019 is probably the most anticipated since the 2013 season.

It's been said during most of the season that the Crestview loss would come back to bite us.
It just may do that.

Gotta hope for the Red Devils!
Go Campbell....

FWIW: At least this crappy schedule that we were stuck with is now almost in the rear view mirror. Thank God.
The additions of Lakeside, Girard, South Range and West Branch are welcome additions.

Let's beat Lakeview!

I donít think it was a ďcrappyĒ schedule. Hubbard, Poland, Crestview and Lakeview are constantly good teams. Liberty will end up 7-3. They gave you plenty of points. Niles will finish 4-6. The schedule is fine. The problem is you didnít beat enough of the good teams. Or even the average teams. You have to win to get in. Thatís how it works. Donít blame the 0-10 teams. It comes down to Crestview. They didnít get it done. You HAVE to win that game. Then you donít have to hope for upsets in week 10.
A crappy schedule is when you go 9-1 and donít get in. Been there. Done that. Good luck. Hope things fall your way. Never know. Lots of rivalry games this week. Anything can happen.

You have a point.
But I think most Struthers people would tell you we'd rather not have had Campbell on our schedule. It WAS avoidable.
Just a lot of old fogey's in town that didn't want to kill that series.
Besides Jefferson and Edgewood being that bad, it didn't help keeping the Campbell game on the schedule. Anyone besides them would've helped.

Any you're right..... we went into the Crestivew game thinking we already had it won. Two years in a row they play us tough as nails.
That's on our coaches not being prepared and not having the team mentally prepared to face a perennially good team .

Your Indians had a great season.
Good luck the rest of the way!
Looking forward to the Cats playing at Girard next year.

A Poland win could boost Struthers over Woodridge and possibly east as well as close as the points are the last 3-4 seeds

Never gave that much thought but it's a possibility.
Would be nice, that for sure.

I guess we'll have to see how it all plays out on Friday.

Let's go Cats!

I'm rooting for Struthers to make it to week 11. Would be great to have Hubbard, Girard, East, Poland, Struthers all make it to week 11 in this region. Would make for a fun weekend in the Valley. Not to beat a dead horse, but If you look through the schedule (pre season) there were 5 games that were pretty locked in as wins (Liberty, Niles, Jefferson, Campbell, Edgewood). Business was handled. The other 5 games were definitely winnable games but could have been considered toss-ups, and right now Struthers is 1-3 against them. Like ICBM you've got to win these things to get a playoff birth. Fully expecting a win to make it 2-3 but these are games that need to be won more than lost. Again, not trying to stir the pot and definitely rooting for the 'Cats but wins are important.
LETS GO CAMPBELL!

Ok. So say Poland wins. That helps Struthers. It would knock Girard to a five spot and we go to Poland. What if East wins and takes the four spot. Where is there home game? Rayen?

Good news for Struthers. Indian Creek is losing 21-15 at half time on a Thursday night game. That could open a spot.

I get your thinking Spread. Probably an hour or so to get there from Struthers and not many willing to make the trip.
I drove up to Conneaut a number of years ago on a miserable night.
Not many people on either side.
Usually similar results with trips to Edgewood and Jefferson.

Weíve kindly gotten spoiled in the valley. Most trips in 30 or less.

Even in my day, the longest trip was the annual trip to Alliance. (45 minutes or so)
And yes, we opened there 10 straight years in a row. (Always at Hartshorn)
Furthest trips were up to Lakewood St. Edward for a game against Cathedral Latin or every other year to Akron Hoban.
Usually not much travel.

But thereís plenty of teams across the state that travel 1-2 hours for league games. Dover at Marietta for example.

So...... if Jefferson bails, who gets an invite?
Chaney, Crestview, East or someone else ?!??

Howland would be a nice replacement for Jefferson. Their football program has been on a steady decline ever since Angle left, though. Otherwise they'd fit in pretty well.
Would be interesting... Howland could just take Jefferson's place on everyone's schedules. And Poland would need to find a week 3 game going forward.

Chaney and East would be boom or bust additions to the conference. If either of them were ever invited.

http://arbiterlive.com/Teams/Schedule/4833104
What's going on with Arbiter?
Shows Struthers has open dates in weeks 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, and 10 next year. 2 is Crestview. 5 is Lakeview. 8 is Girard. 9 is South Range. And 10 is Poland. Is Lakeside in week 1 set in stone? I'm pretty sure it is. Is that just a 1 year contract? Week 1 of 2020 is the only open date for that year. No schedule up for 2021 yet, but I imagine the NE8 games will be in a similar order as they are in 2019 and 2020.

Weren't they showing Chaney as the week 1 opponent for a while before it was switched to Lakeside. Now it's not showing anyone in week 1 for the next couple years.
I'd rather play Chaney in the opener every year than Lakeside. Maybe in 2020? Anyone know what Chaney's schedule looks like next year? Could week 1 open up for them anytime soon?
Week 1: Chaney
Week 2: Crestview
Week 3: West Branch
Week 4: Hubbard
Week 5: Lakeview
Week 6: Jefferson... hopefully someone else
Week 7: Niles
Week 8: Girard
Week 9: South Range
Week 10: Poland
I like this schedule.
