Hey, I've got an idea...maybe, just maybe, Brandon LIKES playing in Cincinnati for the Reds and the Reds fans??? I'm amazed in these days when we see players leave town to play for a few more dollars or to chase a ring, that a guy like Brandon is getting kicked down the street so we can have a lesser player get some experience at 2nd base?
Because he's hindering the growth of the team. That's obvious and have been stated multiple times.

That's obvious, but he's contracted to play for the REDS. The REDS organization will decide who plays and who does not play. Not Reds fans. As much as we think we have some kind of bearing on personnel changes, it's the Reds front office and Bryan Price who decides who plays. My guess is that since BP is still a Red, he's going to play.

Price was on Lance's show a couple of nights ago and said that there was NO push from the front office to limit his playing time last season. I think the plan going into the season is...

-if everyone stays healthy and there is no trades during spring training, you'll see Cozart at short/ Phillips at 2nd to open the season. Peraza / Cozart will split duty at short/ and Peraza will get to play 2nd once a week or so. I think that's what we're looking at.

Article I read (CBS Sports) said the Reds are paying $13M of the $14M owed, the Braves pay $1M and give us 2 pitchers. Neither pitcher is considered a prospect, they are 27 and 29 years old. Clearly just dumping the roster spot...

Right, the Reds paying $13M proves 14Red wrong on nearly everything he has said about Phillips.

Yup, clearly the Reds were willing to pay Phillips and not play him, just as we were saying. I will say that I'll miss Phillips. He gave the team some personality and was fun to watch.

Yeah, Phillips was a great Red, but his time here has passed. Best of luck to him in ATL.

Right move but crappy day and a reminder of how disappointing it is that the core from a few yrs ago didn't win a single playoff series

Didn't BP veto a trade to Atlanta earlier I'm the year? Or am I mistaken, probably am

Christ. McKirahan's had two Tommy John surgeries and an 80-game PED suspension.

Im guessing they let him know he wasn't going to get an extension out of it and his playing time would be severely curtailed this season.

Monte is evaluating the pitchers they got to see if it was a good deal.

You'd think he'd have figured that out himself but whatevs

I'll miss the guy, definitely my favorite Red ever. Glad both sides were able to end it amicably instead of dragging it out all year. Braves are in town June 2-4

Wonder if we got a worse deal in round 2. As in paying more money. Heck we should have offered to pay 28 million if it meant getting rid of him

Reds starting to look like the 70's vintage Indians. You could field an All-Star team of their former players, as they themselves blunder along.

Nice to see I'm popular on here. Not sure where I was wrong though??? It basically boils down to this, so if this is wrong then so be it.

The Reds are not only paying for their own 2nd baseman this season, but the Braves as well. So the Reds gave Brandon to the Braves (a much better 2nd baseman than whomever the Reds can put at 2nd) AND they are paying for him? 6 months of playing time for Herrera/ Peraza at 2nd is worth $13 million dollars?? That make zero sense to me.

But you know what? It's their money and if that's the decision, than so be it. One less thing for us to debate on here. Excited for pitchers and catchers to report.

It's not YOUR money, 14 Red. Of course you don't understand it. You never will.

Not sure where you were wrong? without looking at your previous posts, off the top of my head:

- you stating Phillips would start majority of the season at 2nd base for the Reds
- you stating the Reds wouldn't pay Phillips to not play

Ok, I was wrong in those two posts, but I do want people to realize this wasn't a TRADE. This was a gift to the Braves. A trade involved both sides getting something. The Reds got nothing. The two pitchers may never throw a regulars season pitch for the Reds. We gave the Braves a starting 2nd baseman, better than ours, and we're paying for him.

And you are correct in one thing, I don't understand this trade.

Something else you are wrong about:

The Reds got 2 pitchers and essentially $1,000,000.

Is there anything else you would like to be wrong about today?
