This just in, Mason Parris is good at wrestling, absolutely blitzed the field. I for one would really like to see a tourney where Steveson, Nevills, Cassioppi, Schultz, Parris etc all attend. Congrats to all the Ohio boys who placed.

Ohio placers (i.e. those competing for an Ohio H.S.)

1st - North (Wadsworth) 145, Yinger (Nelsonville-York) 160 ... both beat PA opposition in the final, each beat two state champions earlier today
3rd - Norris (LaSalle) 106, Marcelli (M. Jackson) 182, DelGarbino (Girard) 285 ... Norris and Marcelli lost to eventual champions and beat a nationally ranked opponent in the bronze medal match
5th - Kellar (Vincent Warren), Sizemore (LaSalle) 170
6th - Murphy (Elder) 160, lost to Nijenhuis in the semi then defaulted down
7th - Jacob Cover (Hilliard Darby) 285

After the final whistle in the championship match, things got a little chippy and the kid who won it asked him twice if his back was still hurt.

Best kid in that weight class in my view took third. Was he dumb for trying an illegal move, yes. Is that a legal move in freestyle and college, yes... Its not often you see someone win by injury default and then come back and look 100% in the next match.

If you get a chance, go watch the semi-final match.

There wasn't anything sketchy about it. Athletes get hurt, recover, and come back wrestle all the time. This isn't anything new. You need to watch more sports. There was hours and hours between the semi's and finals match. Plenty of time to get with trainers (which obviously he did) to recover and be ready for the finals match.

If you knew Manzona, you would know he is a God fearing young man, and carries himself with class and integrity. On and off the mat.

Your comment was pathetic and lame. Kick rocks!

I don’t blame Manzona he’s a kid I blame his coaches!!!! Manzona walks back to the center looking fine then his coaches call him back to the corner and it looks like they explain the situation to him then all of a sudden his back is so hurt he has to lay down. His coaches should be ashamed of themselves!!! Just my opinion after watching the video.

hit with an illegal move and you are saying he took a dive? Probably something you shouldn't be saying.

Maybe you should watch it again. Manzona walks to the middle and turns and then grabs his back after turning around. Then his walks to coaches. He grabs his back before he goes to his coaches. You must never had to deal with a hurt back.

Just watched again and I stand corrected you were right he did grab his back once getting back to the center.

Actually that type of thing was expected by many people after he won his State title, he proved many wrong that Saturday evening. I guess he saved the goofball antics for a larger stage. Im not a fan. But, congrats kid and good luck. Where is he going to college?

Glad your not a fan We don't need fans and don't wrestle to get fans. I didn't like Colt's stupid dance but the kid let a lot of emotions go. He hugged the kid and congratulated him. His Uncle died on Christmas eve this year and his grandma is going to die within weeks my mom. He dedicated it to her and promised to bring the belt back to her on Sunday morning. he was just having fun.

First time there for me (us) and we will be back even though it is a ridiculous money grab from a financial side as competitor/coach/fan. Still....we loved it. Venue was awesome even if the mats were TINY...and I mean TINY. Great arena for a DII program. We knew the competition would be phenomenal and it was.

Why would any young adult (kid) have a personality...? Why would they show any emotion after a big match...?

Go away from the sport, your "old school" mentality sucks. "Win with class... Act like you've been there before... etc." It's old and outdated.

Wrestling is fun, let the kids have fun. It wasn't disrespectful. Move along! If you think I'm wrong listen to guys like Ben Askren who share the same sentiment... and have accomplished A TON!!!

You can’t have college out of bounds with youth size mats that are 18 inches apart from each other. They added a round of consolation toward the end of the day on Saturday which wasn’t received well either. Killer competition and a fun atmosphere though. We will be back next year

Maybe that dance in particular was a bit in bad taste, but I'm all for celebrations in any case. He was excited and did it for fun, he's allowed.

I'm more bored of wrestlers being emotionless robots out there getting their hand raised and running off never to be heard from until the next tournament. Its old, and lame.

As far as walkout songs go, I thought S.Lee's was great for the NCAA finals. Better than Haught's at least, lol.

We know the athletes work hard, and are generally decent people. They are allowed to celebrate and be emotional, and also be humble and respectful. There's an area in the middle that for some reason a lot of people really don't want wrestling to go to in terms of the spectacle of a sport.

Things like entertaining walk out songs, or celebrations after a victory help up the entertainment value of the sport. Again though, some tact is needed.
