Another liberal hypocrite. Body shaming a woman was always what Dems said they were against. That is until they lost the election.

To the thread topic: I respect John McCain for his military service. The fact it was war time and he was a POW, only increases my respect. As a politician, I think he got caught up in the "swamp", is jealous Trump won the presidency and he didn't, and he has lost his way. I choose to believe the brain cancer has impaired his thinking.

McCain was never President and Trump has been one for 17 months . So that statement is well I’ll let you fill in your own blank . Definitive assessements of what Trump is as President are really premature seeing as though his “ NEW” party has all the power . Let’s judge his definitive greatness you seem to think he has achieved after his policies and actions at least finish marinating . His starting point in life and this Presidency was advantageous .

Of course if there is a bubble in the stock market and real estate market and inflation hits hard and his foreign policy attempts fall flat it certainly won’t be his fault I am sure .

I never mentioned party. You are bodyshaming women. Another liberal hypocrite. In 2016 you would be villified by the MSM and the Democratic Party. Not so today. Not the Party I joined 40 years ago, not the party of FDR, JFK, or even WJC.

Couldn't vote for the guy because of his ties to Charles Koetting and the Koetting five intervening in the Savings and loan fiasco in the 80s. Had family who lost everything at Home State Savings. Respect his military service but that's about it. Some of the old folks who lost everything committed suicide over it.
Right up there with career champion of women's rights Ted Kennedy.

I'm with you SWG. Respect the military service and I can't imagine the horror he faced as a POW.

But as a republican Senator he left a lot to be desired. He courted MSM praise by selling out his fellow republicans and he seemed to hate actual conservatives. You would think that after the MSM abandoned him in favor of Obama in 2008 he would have finally gotten that they only used him to get at his fellow republicans. That he went right back to being the "maverick" after his loss in 2008 and betrayal by the MSM shows how little character he had at this point in his life.

He probably should have packed it in after the 2008 election. He’s been pretty unhinged ever since.

For President Bone Spurs who would never serve or allow his family to serve in any military branch to say anything about a person like John McCain who faithfully volunteered to serve and was in a POW camp while Trump was screwing playmates on his daddies teat...is more offensive than anyone taking a knee or burning a flag.

It's more about your claim that his father paid for it, or are you again using words that you really do not understand?

Trumps father paid for the lifestyle that allowed him to not have to live a life to the standard that a solder like McCain did....he fought for his country. Trump did not and would not.

First of all, McCain was a sailor, not a solder (sic). Second, both men had advantages from their fathers that others peers did not.

I see, so only those of us who fought for our country are allowed to say disparaging things about McCain? Is that your view?

Yeah, I would be curious to know how common it is for someone to graduate as low as he did in his class, and somehow become a pilot. Typically the most sought after spots, like being a pilot, go only to the best.

Concerning the USS Forrestal Fire, the short version:

The Zuni rockets had a problem with an electrical discharge, the aviators on board the ship did not want to use them, were ordered by higher command t use them. When the A-4 with LCDR James E. Bangert and LT(JG) Lawrence E. McKay aboard, turned on their electrical system, one of the rockets, missing it's safety pin, fired. The rocket clipped the wing of McCain's A-4 on it's journey, flew about 100 feet across the flight deck, severed the arm of a crewman, ruptured a external fuel tank on a Skyhawk piloted by Lt. Cmdr. Fred D. White, while the rocket warhead[the warhead still had it's safetypin, the rocket safety pin that protects against it's firing was missing] did not explode, it did cause fragments to hit the fuel tank of a another A-4 causing more fuel to spread. The CV was doing in excess of 30kts and there were 3 A-4's waiting to takeoff[including McCain's] the fire immediately expanded.
Facts: McCain's jet did contribute to the spread of fire, exhaust from his engine; McCain did nothing wrong, you can't launch a jet unless the engines are running and he was obeying the Air Op's Officer[just like the other 2 A-4's]
He was not responsible for the order to load the Zuni's
He was not an armorer and had no role in the missing safety pin
He was following proper procedure
His Aircraft was a victim of the rocket firing

Not uncommon during the Vietnam war, the rate for 1st or 2nd choice among graduating Midshipmen was over 90% and over 50% were sent to be pilots. Obviously, aviator attrition rate was higher for pilots than other Navy specialties.
His graduating class, 1958 was just about 90% 1st or 2nd choice and just under 50% went into Aviation

As a former Army veteran, have nothing but the highest regard for McCain's military service.
I disagree with some of his political positions; voted for Obama.[and voted for Trump ]

Since the thumb sucking crowd refuses to leave the President out of this.

Advantages and subsequent production by McCain and President Trump.

Donald Trump

Grandson of Frederick Trump - Bavarian immigrant at age 16. Went to work as a barber before relocating to the NW where he became wealthy operating restaurants and boarding houses / brothels in Seattle.

Son of Fred Trump - Father died when he was 12. By fifteen with his mother’s help and that of outside (sounds like angel) investors began a career in land development. Building single family homes in Queens (NY), military housing and roughly 27 thousand apartments in NYC.

Donald Trump - Attended the NY Military Academy, Forham University and Penn’s Wharton school of business.

Result:

Took a $1,000,000 angel investment from his father in 1975 at the age of 29.
Before people start whining the odds of turning 1, 2 or even 10 million dollars in to multiple billion’s of dollars are only slightly better than turning $10,000 in to the same.

He developed his first piece of real estate in Cincinnati Ohio. The building, Swifton Village was owned by his father.

The rest is common knowledge.

Worldwide real estate mogul

Multi-billionaire

Reality television star

President of the United States

............

John McCain

Grandson of Admiral John McCain

Son of Admiral John McCain

John McCain III - Attended Episcopal HS in Alexandria VA. Attended the US Naval Academy.

Result:

Used his lineage to stay in the USNA while his conduct would have gotten any other student (without connections) dismissed.

Used his lineage to gain acceptance to flight school after graduating 894 of 899 Midshipmen. Sort of like getting in to OSU law school after barley graduating. It doesn’t happen.

Crashed and destroyed three different Naval planes.

Continued his notorious academy history of being an idiot by pulling a stunt on the USS Forrestal. He wet fired his jet causing an explosion of jet fuel from the planes engine. The result accidentally detonated a Zuni rocket which propelled across the flight deck in to other armed jets.
Resulting in the death of 134 sailors, injuring another 161 and damn near sinking an aircraft carrier. The damage took the carrier out of commission for nine months and caused $72 million dollars in damages.

Got shot down over N. Vietnam. Obviously not his fault.

Used his father’s position as Admiral to gain special favor from the N. Vietnamese. He was removed from his prisoner camp and put up in a far more comfortable situation.

Recorded Communist propaganda for opposing forces.
Reported on his ships location, commanding officers and other strategic information.

Was released from N. Vietnam in 1973.

Was awarded 28 metals for roughly 20 hours of actual combat. Not sure how those numbers work out.

The rest is common knowledge.

Spent well over four decades in congress making himself wealthy on the backs of his constituents. Was wrapped up in more than a few scandals, most notably the Keating five. Where in 1989 he and four others intervened in the failing Lincoln savings and loan which ended up costing the government (we the people) 3.4 billion dollars. 23k bond holders were involved, many of whom lost their lives savings.

Brain cancer.

This is completely inaccurate.

In any given year there may be as many as 15 open seats. And acceptance is largely based on class rank. There may be more open seats during times of heavy conflict but never would any other graduate gain acceptance with McCain’s record. Never.

In a 2007 deposition, Trump admitted he had borrowed ďa small amountĒ from his fatherís estate: ĎI think it was like in the $9 million range.Ē And as Trumpís casinos ran into trouble, Trumpís father also purchased $3.5 million gaming chips, but did not use them, so the casino would have enough cash to make payments on its mortgage ó a transaction which casino authorities later said was an illegal loan. Some how that got omitted , Imagine that
