I suspect you will see their coaching staff at local football games recruiting the teams hard. Kids can transfer mid-season and still play with them. Teams with losing records and no chance at the playoffs might see a few defections too.

They will probably be recruiting the kids that have failing grades and aren't eligible in the OHSAA.

Can anybody in the know shed some light how CAPE started out? Were there similar problems initially or were they a little more forthcoming? I found an old article in a sports illustrated a while ago- just curious if anybody can make comparisons

CAPE was a Cincinnati public school. There is no comparison as to the legitimacy of the founding. Consider it a magnet school.COF just seems to have appeared and its relationship to the OHSAA put in question.

I'm guessing if their coaches start showing up at local games they'll be trespassed from the property the moment they speak to any players. What's the point to transfer from one failing school to another? Also, OHSAA member schools would probably react by dropping their contests.

The odds that this team actually goes to Florida to play IMG are equal to them traveling there by Unicorn.

On that note why are Unicorns these magical, mythological beasts?

I mean is a horse with a horn really that inconceivable when every zoo in the country has a leopard - moose - camel with a 20ft long neck?

COF should change their mascot to the Unicorn. It’d be more fitting.

I noticed on Joe eitel that COF is listed as D2. They'll have little, if any 2nd level points. However if someone is on the bubble of either getting in the playoffs or hosting a 1st round game, this may be important.

How can this school be D2 when there are only 30 students, 20 if you don't count those that already graduated high school. Classes start in 4 days, where is the school? It's a simple question.

Joe estimates OOS schools division placement until the ohsaa has it posted. The D2 statement is probably based on their original estimate of how many students they claimed they would enroll this year. They're nothing now since they won't be recognized by OHSAA. No different than Columbus Crusaders or any other club team.

As the Psychotic poster hinted, in the end my expectation is that COF will be treated as a Bye by their opponents in the points. I could be wrong, of course.

They have at least fielded a team the opening two weeks; which is a victory of sorts for them. Many were wondering (myself included) whether they would be able to pull that off. Tonight's game against Wayne will be the first test against an Ohio team. I don't know the rules about whether they can play against Wayne if they use post-secondary players. And I haven't heard about the make up of them team. It still seems amazing to me that we are in Week Two (Week 3 for COF) and the team and its roster remains shrouded in so much mystery. I suspect much of this should come into more focus as COF begins to play Ohio teams. Is there any information abut whether the school has actually started classes?

I'll assume the North Allegheny game wasn't even as close as the score indicated. IIRC, PA's mercy rule is 35 points in the 2nd half, but the clock never reverts to normal timing once that margin is achieved.

I am announcing this game on the radio tonight and I can only hope that I have something approximating a roster in hand at kickoff. Otherwise the audience will get whatever names I can make up.

No. It goes back just like Ohio. From talking to someone who went to the game, COF showed up a half hour late, and played horrible. North Allegheny subbed liberally all night long. The result was never in doubt.

COF led in the 2nd quarter. North Allegheny sealed it in the 2nd half.

I have nothing against the kids playing, nor would I ever disparage a group of minors, but I kind of hope Wayne hangs 80 on them.

Wayne played a team last year that had post grads on it, basically 19 year olds.... so that should not be an issue.

My V2S power ratings projection has Wayne by 48

Wayne does not run up the score so I doubt it gets too out of hand. Wayne could of beaten that TN team by 70. Wayne's biggest lead at halftime was 72-0 back in 99 and they ended up winning that game 78-0.

Wayne should know before kick-off if this game counts in the Harbins and I'm sure that will determine how long the starters stay in... of course, who knows who COF has picked up from last week to this so they could be an all-star team by now....
