Five Guys fires are made from potatoes right at the restaurant , all the rest are the frozen processed kind.

Ditto on Rally's. We had a local ice cream stand 30-some years ago that made them very similar to that.

Burger King makes a pretty tasty fry. Actually, so does Hardee's.

They have to be fresh. Once they're frozen, they are all the same...

Smashburger is the one with the olive oil and rosemary fries, right ? I normally don’t like the skinny fries that go cold so quickly, but those are really good.

I prefer fresh cut, thick steak fries, cooked in really hot oil. FatGuys’ could be really great, since they start with spuds in the restaurant, but too often when it’s busy the oil doesn’t reheat adequately, or they cook some ahead, and you end up with soggy fries. The ones perfectly done that have a crunch to their surface and a pure potato taste inside, salted up, are the best.

The original McD's fries were the best, the key was frying them in the very unhealthy animal fat. Many high end burger places have skinny fries fried in duck fat which is basically the original McD's fries.

As for the current state of fast food fries I agree that 5 Guys fresh made fries are the best, I like them with malt vinegar too. Steak Escape also makes their fries the same way.

Five Guys fries are basically state fair/ribfest fries in a cup, with a side of vinegar to sprinkle on them.

Five Guys are the best. Burger King and Chick-fil-A are best served in a dumpster.

I went to KC once and did this and people looked at me like I was nuts.

East, have never had Berardi's fries. Right near the stadium right? Across from the old Auto Plant?

Yep, they were the original Cedar Point fries before Cedar Point went all corporate, I think the story goes. My go to during play-offs. Never had a meal I didn't enjoy at Berardi's but will occasionally treat myself to an order of fries too.
