Request for Data - Pole Vault - Girls - Anything before 2002

I'm looking for any and all data on Ohio girls' pole vault marks prior to 2002. The data is scarce, but I'm looking to capture as much as I can in order to produce a reasonably accurate picture of the development of the event. As I've stated in another thread, the earliest recorded girls' PV I know of was at the Anderson Invite in Cincinnati in 1995. I have that data as I was there and recorded everything in the 1995-96 editions of that meet. I didn't follow the event after that, but from what Craig Whitmore left for all of us, there weren't too many more to my knowledge. I've got a few marks here and there from online resources, but I'm encouraging anyone with any knowledge to cite some meets/resources to follow in compiling such a list.

BRING IT ON!

You do know that the OHSAA didn't add the girls pole vault as an event for girls until 2002. I suspect that very few meets were contesting the girls pole vault during the period you're looking for.

Yes, I do know, and that's why I'm asking for data before 2002. 2002 onward is pretty easy to track down the data. Before then, it becomes challenging.

In case anyone missed the news recently, 1960 Olympic PV champ, Don Bragg, passed away at 83. What is even lesser known is that his kid sister, Diane, set a then unofficial world best of 8' 6" in the women's PV in 1952! I've got women's PV data going back to Ruth Spencer of Lake Erie College in 1910 clearing 4' 9" at Painesville, OH.

FWIW, The conference that my school was in at that time contested the girls' pole vault starting in 1999 (I think).
The PAC-7 (Principal's Athletic Conference) had the forsight to offer the event prior to 2002. I know that a girl named Monica Lattavo, from East Canton had the league meet record from 2000 as that what was listed as the record in 2002.
I know I have those results tucked away at home somewhere. I will try to get the 1999-2001 results to you.

Sounds great! Thanks. Although no one from that era will factor in all-time lists now, I think the pre-2002 era needs to be preserved and I'm putting together a special list for those athletes as they were the pioneers of the event.

I went back to my archive of T&F News Issues, and found that the first time that Girls' PV was included in the annual end-of-year listings was in the December 1994 issue. To show you just what has happened over the last 25 seasons, here is the list of 5 girls that were listed as LEADING the nation that initial year of 1994:

11’ 6 ” Melisa Price (Kingsburg, CA – Jr.)
10’ 6” Jocelyn Chase (Agoura, Agoura Hills, CA – Jr.)
10’ 1 ” Serina Miller (Beaverton, OR – Jr.)
9’ 7” Melinda Olsen (Franklin, Portland, OR - ?)
9’ 6” Holly Speight (Sprague, Salem, OR - ?)

Gives you some perspective!
