Week 9 Opponent: St. Ignatius
2017 Record: 11-2, lost to Mentor 23-21 in Ohio D1 Region 1 Final
Return 2 players on offense and 4 players on defense
Key Losses: WR Connor Kennedy (Holy Cross), WR Sam Snyder,
RB Mike Bobinski, LT Darian Kinnard (Kentucky)
Key Returners: Senior RB Jahadge "Bo" Floyd and Senior LB Tom Eichenberg

Outlook: The Wildcats are always hit hard by graduation because like StX they start mostly seniors. The 2 key returners had fantastic games against the Bombers last season: RB Floyd carried 36 times for 215 yards while LB Eichenberg (Michigan St) recorded 10 tackles and 2.5 sacks. As usual look for Coach Kyle to assemble a senior laden team who will be one of the best in Region 1

Week 10 Opponent: Louisville St. Xavier
2017 Record: 12-3, lost to Trinity 38-21 in KY big school title game
Return Zero players on offense and 4 players on defense
Key Losses: OL Wyatt Smock (Vanderbilt), OL Chase Ferris (Tennessee Martin), RB Dom Allgeier, WR Will Crum (Kentucky), WR Cameron Garrett (Murray State)

Outlook: Last season was one of the best in a long time for the Tigers as they reached the state finals. Unfortunately they are hit hard by graduation as the offense consisted of 11 seniors and the defense returns just 4 starters: OLB 43 Camren Sams Sr. 5’9” 200lb, ILB 52 Pat Owen Sr. 6’2” 225lb, ILB 55 Will Sizer Jr. 6’1” 175lb and SS 17 Sam Boarman Sr. 6’2” 175lb

The 3 most difficult games: 1. Colerain 2. St. Ignatius 3. Elder (at the Pit)
Luckily the Colerain and St. Ignatius games are at Ballaban.

Key Returner: QB - #4 Roman Purcell (Jr) 6'-1" 205 lbs offers from Kentucky and TCU, top ranked QB in midwest in his class
Outlook: Lost 5 D1 players to graduation. QB Purcell is the only returning D1 player but he is a good one. May not have much of a supporting cast this season
The QB Roman Purcell transferred again, he is at Warren Central now. he is at his 3rd school in 3 years.

Key Returners: Senior DE Steven Facheaux (4 star recruit), Junior RB David Afari (leading rusher in GMC with 1,109 yards and 5.9 yards per carry), Sophomore LB Landon Rosier (team's 2nd leading tackler), Sophomore LB David Jones (team's 3rd leading tackler)

Outlook: Started 6 sophomores last year including the GMC leading rusher and a couple of solid LBs. Should be able to effectively run the ball and stop the ball but will be shackled by the ineptitude of the amazing Larry Cox
This game could get interesting, LW has no idea who there QB will be. The kid slotted to be the starting QB is a rising sophomore, but he recently tore his knee up playing basketball and is out of commission for at least 4 months. As typical with Larry there was no plan B so I predict David Afari left, David Afari right and David Afari up the middle. with a QB sneak and bubble screen mixed in for good measure from time to time. They do not have another QB on their team that has taken a snap at QB in a JV or Varsity game

Not a good sign.....school jumpers usually never pan out.
Collegiately it looks like he is deciding between Notre Dame and Michigan.
So glad we got Warren Central off the schedule.

Yep you can run but you cant hide. at some point you have to show it on the field as a QB. There are a lot of 7 on 7 T shirt all Americans out there that look good at camps 7 of 17 for 42 yards against X last year.

Support Bomber football players in spring sports.
Hudepohl and Hundley play key roles helping the baseball team defend its GCL title while Newman and Clifford display their speed in track, Kellen in the hurdles and Liam in the dash

I'm pretty sure that Clifford is not playing a spring sport. I think he may just be working out with a trainer.

Is Ferguson running track? He was part of a really good relay team last year, and in watching him in football he certainly has some speed.

Yes Ferguson is running today at Elder, he runs the 100 200 and Long Jumps, Newman runs 110 Hurdles, 300 hurdles and Long Jumps. Those are the only underclassmen football players running in this first meet. There are more on the team that will participate in future meets. Paris Johnson is in the throwers group im pretty sure there are a few of the other FOOLS in the throwers group also.

Newman and Ferguson started the track season off with a bang in the rain yesterday at Elder. Ferguson took 2nd in the 100M dash and 3rd in the 200M dash Newman took 2nd in the 110 hurdles. The St Xavier track team is strong, they went 1,2,3 in the 100M dash. 1,3,5 in the 200M and 1st and 3rd in the 4 x 400 M relay. They did not run any spring relays yesterday so there is a lot of potential there based on the individual times in the 100 and 200. Henry Young a junior won the 100 and 200M dash running 11.11 in the 100 and 22.47 in the 200. ( can we sign him up as a kick returner)???

I can guarantee you the football and cross country coaches try to draw as much talent as they can from this sport no matter what school you're at, much like basketball and volleyball would.

If I were the AD I'd cancel this game and put International School of Broward on the schedule in their place.

I still say St. X should schedule Campbell County, KY for the 19 & 20 season. This team is stacked. I've seen them play and they have several monster runningbacks, who all wrestle. They went to Regionals last year and are expected to return stronger the next 2-3 years. My nephew is on that team and built like a truck and he's not nearly the strongest kid on the team.

We enjoy playing Harbin cows, but this team might be more like a Harbin meatball. We'll have to see if our 2018 Bombers can live up to what '16 and '17 did.

Offensively the only real question is the QB position.
I see it as a 3 horse race between a senior, junior and sophomore.
If the junior wins the other 2 move to WR.
My money is on the sophomore

Defensively the big moves I anticipate are Kiessling from LB to DE, Bridges from secondary to OLB, Hundley and Mayer to the defensive backfield allowing Stockman to slide to CB opposite Ferguson.

He looked pretty spry working out at the stadium a couple weeks ago.

He is doing rehab but he transferred to moeller. So they still dont have a qb that has taken a meaningful snap

From Adam Baum twitter account:
"St. Xavier has verbally agreed to a 2-year contract extension with Clarkson Secondary School (Football North) for Wk 7 of 2019 and 2020, per interim AD Nick Van Zile. Deal was made possible by La Salle agreeing to move its matchup against X to Wk 8 in 19/20 #cincyfb @ENQSports"

Is ReLoad on vacation. Surprised he hasnt commented on this yet. Seems like the Bombers cant find anyone in the city to play them. This seems to be a way a lot of teams are filling the schedule as Football North plays Moeller in Week 1 and then Elder, St. X and Ignatius this year. Ignatius actually has a couple of Canadian teams as they seem to struggle to find games as much as the Bombers.

At least it is 10 games for the kids and no bye week.

Think we would be better off with the bye, but I trust Specht in these matters.

The junior is looking like the man.
The arm strength is off the charts and he is throwing with touch.
Kreimer will get some snaps

Projected offensive lineup heading into camp
QB: Wyatt Hudepohl, (Jared Kreimer)
RB: Chris Payne, Kellen Newman, (Tucker Hundley)

I saw the Barry McOckiner kid up there the other day throwing balls and I though he looked pretty good. ReLoad with your infinite wisdom, is there any chance we see McOcknier on the field this fall or are Hudepohl, Kriemer, and Clifford too far ahead of this kid?
