I admit, I don't know much about either team, but I'm surprised that West took care of Centerville so handily.
In reality you can't expect much from Centerville this year. They have nowhere near the talent they usually do. Just look at rosters from club season. They usually have 2-4 kids on the top Cincy Attack teams. This year they had none. And they didn't even have any of the better players in the Air City program.
Well if Centerville is down that much, any chance a team like Lakota East or Beavercreek sneak up and take the W2 slot, assuming Lakota West takes the W1 spot.
X beats Elder 25-20, 25-23, 27-25. Elder dug a big hole in game 1, 9-2. Game 2 was back and forth but X was always up 1-2 points. Game 3 was 21-18 Elder but X fought back and stole the game while walking away with the match. Inconsistent game for Elder. I see Elder and X being pretty even throughout the year, X is clearly ahead of them right now.
Moeller did reasonably well playing in the Tiger Classic, an invitational in Chicago. They placed 11th in a field of 24, going 3-2 in their matches. In Friday pool play they went 1-1 losing in 3 to the team that took 2nd in the tournament. They have participated in this tournament for the last 3 years I believe, maybe 4, and this is their best finish. Very high level of play in the Chicago area.
Who played well for the Bombers? Just curious, since I couldnt make the game.
There was no real one person that did great, but all of them were above average. I think that the middle, Creevy really held the middles from Elder well, and that got the outsides going for X. Also, Fletcher ran the game pretty well and had some huge blocks.
ads...Were you at the Darby-Elder match? Looks like it was very even.
Was not, heard Elder played much better than they did vs St X, but Elder never seems to pull out that 5th game. They had leads in games 4 and 5, but couldn't close out.
Everything I heard made it seem like a really good game to see. Upset I missed it, but didnt have an option. Did Elder have a good student crowd? The pit was always the best atmosphere when I was at X
The place was packed, surprised X brought as many people as they did. Student section was its normal size, great atmosphere on a Friday night.

I was there. Elder's outside's seemed to be the opposite of clutch down the stretch, and that hurt. The big middle for Darby ran train at points, but where Darby really took advantage was running those 12 balls for their outsides, Elder's middles were late getting outside very often, leaving Darby's outsides with one blocker, and they took advantage.
Elder's problem is that they still won't (and probably never will w/ Tierney) run any plays. High outs, 1 balls, and high backs, with an occasional back 1. Darby's quick offense won the game IMHO.
When Wessels was there they ran one of the best and quickest offenses I've seen from a high school team. So maybe it's not Tierney, but rather the passing or setter
