Any updates on how Elder's baseball teams look this year? I heard Varsity should be good on offense, but a little bit weak on pitching. Are the rosters out yet or have final cuts been made?

They play Vandalia Butler and Moeller, two Nationally ranked teams, within the first 3 games of the year. The lineup 1-9 will be one of the best in the city, but the pitching staff is a huge question mark after Ramstetter, who is a solid Ace. |

I graduated in '71' and have seen great things since..state champs in several sports...... Great Spirit!!!! WHERE HAS IT GONE???????
NOW...I wonder WHAT IN THE HECK HAS HAPPENED TO ELDER AND SPORTS!!!!!
Basketball SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!! CAN WE GET ANY LOWER???????
Wrestling went DOWN A FEW POINTS!!!!!!!!!! Not the Elder I expect....
Football...SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME........Elder might win 3 games this year!!!!!!
Can you imagine 3 wins for Elder.....WELL?? Look at the basketball team...NOT MUCH BETTER THAN 3 WINS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Don't put too much stock in scrimmages, but I think varsity actually lost. Hard to tell since they played like 15 innings and we threw 10 pitchers. Not time to panic. This team is really good.

The hitting was good, but nearly as impressive as the defense. Diving play at 2B by Asalon, double play turned by 3B Asman and 2B Asalon, catch on the run by OF Schwarz, blocked ball in the dirt and baserunner thrown out at 2B by C Doerflein, and another double play by SS Haley and 2B Asalon. Hitting will come with time. Pitching is still the question mark with this team as with most this time of year.

The boys looked really good yesterday vs Harrison. I believe they won 10 to 3. The hitting seemed better than the last scrimmage and the defense was really good again too. Looking forward to Lakota W today.

Not a good day for varsity. Lost like 10 to 5 in nine, but it was 10 to 1 until LW brought a pitcher in that walked 5 batters in a row. We were using alot of different pitchers, but the bigger concern was we didn't hit. Defense was still really good....Diving play at 2B by Asalon, put outs from behind 2B by SS Haley, Schwarz and Ramstetter running balls down in the OF.

The not hitting part is what concerns me greatly, I heard they basically just threw out everyone to pitch too, that 10 runs doen't bother me. They need to get it together really quick or they will be 0-2 by next week. |

Maybe the second guy on your list but that's it, though Otten is a terrible Principle for the athletic dept hes done well to keep enrollment up. I know you are being antagonizing, but to consider football and bball season anything but a failure is idiotic imo. Thompson knows how to win, I know they will be a good team come late in the year, its just the lack of depth in the pitching staff worries me. Any idea on if Ramstetter takes the mound vs Butler or Moe?

Don't know for sure, but since Taylor Cherry will probably pitch for Vandalia I am guessing Ramstetter will pitch too. Have to imagine there will be plenty of pro scouts there.

Is Butler D1 for baseball? I'd honestly rather have Ramstetter throwing vs Moe. Who is Elder's #2 guy? |

I am pretty sure VB is D1, but I don't know for sure. I think Ramstetter will throw both VB and Moe. Not sure on #2 based on scrimmages though. My guess right now is Beard or Auer. Guess we will see.

Why is Varsity playing 2 games today now? Is it some kind of tournament? Does Butler have to play 2 games as well? Elder might luck out and not have to go vs. Taylore Cherry.

Looks like Elder split their games today. However, they beat nationally ranked Vandalia Butler and lost to Davidson. Anyone have any info on the games?
