Dayton Carroll vs Finneytown Game Online

Nothing is going to change the result, and best of luck to Carroll going forward....but I said I would post the link to the Carroll/Finneytown match so here it is.

http://www.waycross.tv/FHS_Dayton_Reg_SF_Soccer

I encourage you to watch the entire match and form your own opinion, but pay particularly close attention to the missed/bad calls leading up to Carroll's 2nd goal about 7 mins into the 2nd half. A significant game-changing call. The actual foul was correct, but he missed the obvious infraction right before that.

Notice the inconsistency from the CR throughout the match but specifically the 2nd half where he lost complete control and appeared incompetent. This game was too big for him and I hope after making others aware that he will not be assigned any important matches again.

After watching this back a couple times, the only comment I have made that I will retract is the foul/missed PK that Finneytown had right before half. It looked to be in the box from my perspective during the game, however watching it back I believe it was correctly called outside the box.

I feel that all other points I have made about the missed calls, players not being carded, dirty play, red cards, etc are all legit argumentative points. I have to say that I lost respect for Carroll's #10 & #24 after watching their actions on the playback.

Enjoy and feel free to comment AFTER watching the game again in it's entirety.

Makes me wonder if this officiating crew is the same one that did the Finneytown/Carroll match on Tuesday. HAHA

Ok I am a completly unbiased observer in every way shape and form here, so here are a few of my objective opinions after watching the game online....

Why does FT's goalie punt right footed and goal kick left?

DC's 3rd goal WAS pretty good for a high school goal.

The officiating was bad, but it was a consistent bad. There were a lot of incorrect calls against DC as well that left me puzzled, so I can't say the officiating decided the outcome here. Even after DC scored the 2nd goal, there was no offense being generated for FT. I don't remember seeing the DC goalie for more than a second the last 10 mins or so.

The replay didn't show the retaliation on the double reds, but if you shove someone right in front of a ref, there's a good chance he's going to red card that player too, especially if he's being consistently terrible. But in my opinion, bad refereeing is what you have to deal with when you play at some point or another. You would think the deeper the games, the better the officiating, but it's not always the case. It's more of a luck of the draw kind of thing. It's how each team adjusts and reacts that determines who moves on. I believe DC is playing tomorrow and FT is not because they did what was neccessary to put the game away and leave no doubt. You have to take what you have to work with and use it to your advantage, however small that advantage is.

I think DC #10 was the best player on the field that night, with the kid up top for FT, the captain, the 2nd best. (the one who was cautioned in the 2nd half). They did the most for their respective teams.

My final thought is that for a regional semi, this was a terrible soccer game. There was no rythym to it, no flow. Hardly was a time where there was more than 3 passes strung together from either team. It made it very boring and painful to watch. At least the physical(dirty) play kept me somewhat interested. I guess there is a huge difference between all the divisions that you don't really notice unless they play each other. I can't believe Fairfield lost to FT this year, I would have guess they beat them 4-0, even a man down.

I totally agree with this. I could only watch the first half because it was a lot of kick ball. I'll have to pain my way through the second half later to see what everyone is talking about.

Sycamoreaves08 - Excellent post and observations (especially about the FT goalie who punts and kicks with different legs). Not sure but I wish I could do that.

After reviewing the video myself, the game was sloppy, lacked control and both teams showed that they have players who can really kick the ball. Obviously that doesn't win soccer games. When watching the video I turned the volume off so I could actually watch the game and not have to listen to the crowd (as they have no idea what soccer is about, it's laws, etc...) - This is a common theme at FT. Anyway, the third goal was the best goal of the night. Excellent placement to beat a pretty good FT goalie. When I think of dirty soccer, I really don't think this game was over the top. Sure there were fouls, there was pushing and shoving, but downright dirty (not a chance). As far as the officiating goes, sure they could have done a better job both ways. They didn't change the outcome of the game.

BTW - here is what dirty soccer looks like:

I agree with you CR3. I watched 3/4 of the game. I did not consider this game to be particularly dirty. It was sloppy and a lot of long ball play, but I did not consider the officiating to be as terrible as other have indicated. There were certain events like the FT red card that I could not evaluate. The foul that was proximate to the 2nd goal was a blown call, but since there was a foul that came after it, I would never consider the blown call as having led to the goal. I would have also have given a YC to a DC player for a foul in the first half, but otherwise, I felt the CR did an acceptable job.
