Matheson and Dennis are young and very good!! They may struggle a little this year, but the next 2 years will be really good. Good luck Coach Witting FHS is behind you 100%.
YES HE IS COACHING, and our softball team is 18-0 leauge champs,(he coached it to)
First of all, what does this have to with Fairless Basketball and secondly if you are talking about men's slow pitch softball, I don't believe that a coach has anything to do with a team's record. The only real decision that should be made in softball is to get the guys to wait untill after the game to start drinking their beverage of choice.
Anyway, yes the falcon's will be young this year with Matheson and Dennis in the lineup but I think they may be able to sneak up on a few teams this year. I also want to wish Fairless and Coach Witting the best of luck this year.
Also, if it helps your self esteem, Good Luck Outsider in you quest for another great season in green(National Champs Maybe?).
First off I'll let u all know that I currently am on the FHS Basketball team. As for the outsider, he is an ignorant person who doesn't know what he is talking about. First we had no coaching last year, which lead to our terrible record. We will be much better off with the coaches this year. Last year in some of the JV/Varsity practices "The Outsider" would lay on the scores table and be half asleep, now what kind of coaching is that? When it came time to sub he would yell at his JV players... "OK you guys on the bench get in there and get your a** beat!" Great Coaching!!! We also had NO offense... all it was, was a big motion. We didn't have the kind of height or power to work that offense. I recall Jay telling us NOT to shoot the 3!!! Now as far as us liking the new coaching staff goes I don't know what he is talking about. We all like them. WHO is texting you? NO ONE! Thats who. Also what Senior is quitting? No one that I am aware of, and what underclassman? Our whole team is laughing at how dumb you sound on here. As far as Witting goes, He has more potential and talent as a coach in his right pinky toe then you have in your whole body! We didn't like you last year and we don't like you this year! We will fight for Witting till the end however! Another thing, your son. He is in 7th grade so who cares. How you and Jay took a playoff contending team to a 4 and 17 season or so I will never know! GO FHS!!!

Coaching is only part of it, I am going to guess and say that your terrible skill set led to many of your losses. Which leads us back to the previous coaching staff. If you boys were trained in the skills that prepared you to win, one year of bad coaching was not going to ruin that. I watched you guys twice last year you could not shoot, so I applaud Coach Airhart for saving the backboards at FHS and forbidding you to shoot. Your dribbling under pressure was awful. These are skills that are learned in grades 4-8 not when you get on the Varsity team. You boys should go home look yourselves in the mirror and say we are the reason we lost, we were not good enough to win, and then do something about it. Sitting on Yappi as a 17 year old kid making excuses on why a coach could not make you win is pathetic. Get yourself in a gym a make yourself better.
Blaming kids...is also pathetic. I don't know who this kid is but I'm glad he stood up to tell what really happened in practice. I've heard the same kind of stuff. Kids I've talked to say practices were a joke compared to what was run in previous years. ANd no that doesn't make me Kramers biggest fan. It just means that there is more to this story. Jay and his staff didn't get screwed they got what they deserved. ANd McHenery can go around bad mouthing everybody and keep patting himself (and his kid) on the back all he wants. There are a bunch of kids and parents that know the real story and are happy Witting gets the chance to coach. And I know there will be nights that we don't win, maybe alot, but this year the kids will finally get what they should have gotten last year, a hard working, dedicated staff that cares about kids first.

Wrong they carry as much of the blame as the coach. These kids are using a coach as a crutch as to why they did not succeed. They are also part of the problem, and if a kid wants to come on here then they should take the criticism, just like a coach who comes on here. Do I believe this is a kid….. NO, but if he says so……OK. I do not believe a kid calls a coach Jay, even if he didn’t like him. Just my opinion. I think I know who it is. One post wonder.
Tom, you are absolutely right. 100%. I just wanted to post on here so i could tell the real story about our coaching last year. It was making me mad that McHenry was patting himself on the back when he sucked! He continues to badmouth our coach, who I will continue to support, and our ex. coach Kramer, who could be harsh at times, but got us to work hard. It was what we needed. You could say that we didn't have talent, but you would be wrong. We had pratt, who could hit threes with his eyes closed, austin, a talented freshman who distributed the ball well, stan, who was a well balanced player, Matt Hull, speedy and an asset off the bench, Matt Morris, a strong player who could shoot, Ricky and Jeremy, two balanced post players. We may not have had the talent we did 3 years ago, but we could have been more of a contender than we were. Had we had the right offense to fit it may have been a better season. Now I like Jay as a person, but as a coach he was bad. The only good coach we lost from last year was the freshman coach, Doug Sessor. Now I do agree it wasn't just the coaches falt, we should have worked better, but that doesn't excuse the lack of coaching we recieved. We have been set back a year.

Krammer posts, or posts pertaining to Krammer always have one post posters, who are mysteriously students posting during school time.
Coaches are the adults and should set the bar. The kids need to see the coaches work hard day in and day out. The kids will follow the example set before them. There were kids on last years team working harder than the coaches. End of story.
I don't care what I call them. You can continue to believe that I'm not a kid but I don't care up 2 u. I just explained what happened in practice. We except some blame and so should the coaches. I will take any criticism you give me. I agree that since I decide to get on here I should be treated as any player or coach. All I ask is that you receive both sides to the story. Not just McHenry's!
Back to the actual team...they're very short and they'll struggle because of it. But some kids on the team who have skills and play well together so there might be a few (good) surprises along the way to some people. They'll have to work hard to overcome that lack of height, not gonna be easy.
I've read just about enough of all this childish bickering. Either get ON TOPIC, or stop posting in here. And I'm talking posters from BOTH sides of the supposed coaching "issues" from last season.
Let's get on with talking players and coaches and season potential for THIS year. How will the Falcons match up against other conference teams. What varsity newcomers might help.
There are dozens of things to discuss without dragging the coach-change issues from last season. Whether you agree or disagree, the time to discuss that was when it happened. It's done... it's over... it's finished.
I know Coach Airhart fairly well. He's moved past all this and going forward. IT'S TIME FOR THE REST OF YOU TO MOVE ON AS WELL.
This will be the last warning. Locking or complete deletion of the thread comes next.
These are games I believe we should win... Coventry, Indian Valley 2x, Dalton, Tuslaw 2x, Tusky Valley 2x, Canton Central Catholic... Competitive games... Triway, Strasburgh, Northwest... Tough games... C.V.C.A., Manchester, Timken, Dover

Very entertaining thread ....
You "may be" competitive vs TV & IV and maybe even Dalton ... but Tuslaw will beat you twice, CCC will beat you, and the rest of the PAC will have their way.
I appreciate your optimism but 4 - 5 wins this season for you guys will be a stretch.
As Witting was saying... We like the fact that everyone is picking us for last. We will be ready when the time comes. As for Tuslaw we split with them last year and they are worse than they were, we can and will have more than 4 wins.
Although we do not have for sure lineups, these are projected starters...
guard- Austin Matheson (Sophomore)
guard- Erick Stucki (Senior)
Small Forward- Jack (Junior, Transfer From Perry)
Power Forward- Donnie Hay (Senior)
Center- Matt Bentley (Senior)
6th Man- Alex Medrano (Senior)
again just projections
Other Keys off the bench...
Jake Dennis (Sophomore)
Chase Lanier (Junior)
Keith Studer (Senior)
Brain Merrill (Junior)
there's a couple other names I would like to add to the lineup.
Jesse Rose (Junior)
Mark Soehnlin (Sophmore)
The flock will be very undersized this year but very quick to the ball in other instances. In order to have any success they will have to shoot the rock well and will have to hit the boards with a vengeance as a TEAM.
Looking at the kids that are returning or coming in new to the program I don't believe anyone is guaranteed a starting position or even a varsity position for that matter. This, I believe, will be all ironed out as they work hard through their upcoming practices and games. If I know Coach Witting, the kids that show the best work ethic and determination will be rewarded with playing time on the court. Best of luck this year Flock.

Maybe more than 4 wins ???? But none of them will be vs Tuslaw!!!!

If that is your starting line-up, you will be lucky to win 1 game. Stucki, Hay, and Medrano could be serviceable bench players as long as they are told not to shoot. Matheson and Merril are by far your best players. Bently is too short to play center, although I would start him at 4. Rose needs to start simply because of his height. As I said earlier, he will probably foul out of every game if he does get much time. Dennis is a good shooter on a poor shooting team. Can't comment on Jack as I have never seen him play. I heard Bauchka is playing this year but is expected to play JV. At about 6'3" he could see some PT if what I've heard is correct. Lanier may be best served to play 1 or 2 quarters at JV just to get some minutes if he is in the plans for next year. Studer will get minutes strictly because he is over 6'. No height + poor shooting = long season.
All this is based on what I've seen in game action the last few years. Hopefully some of these kids have busted their butts in the off-season and greatly improved. If so, I'll gladly admit I was wrong in my talent assesment. I've been wrong before and will be again. Even with a dramatic improvement from all, I see 6 wins max.
I believe that some of the players on our team have improved in the off season i came up with those lineups, from watching and playing against them in the summer and now in open gyms
Just logged on for the first time today and had to lop off TWELVE posts that completely ignored my earlier request. If you thought I was kidding, you were wrong.
Posters who ignore Yappi, the other mods, or myself will find themselves moderated if this crap keeps up. I've not the time or inclination to babysit a bunch of folks that can't/won't follow the rules.
Start another Fairless thread?
Absolutely... but the instant it starts "spinning away", offending posts will be deleted, and THAT thread closed just like this one.
