Texas Playoff Games at Jerry's World

After months of thinking it wouldn't happen, it now appears that high school playoff games will be played in the new Dallas Cowboys stadium.

Expect large crowds in both round one and round two.

Round two could include Allen vs. SLC. Each of those teams is ranked #1 in Texas this week depending on the ranking or model your prefer. If that game happens expcet a crowd of 45K plus. Also, depending on the poll, 6 of the Texas top 10 are in the Dallas area so depending on the match-up the crowds could be huge. Cedar Hill and Skyline also have #1 Texas rankings.

Many fans will come just to see the incredible stadium.

Nothing is official yet but several sources are reporting it.

The issue will be two fold. What will be the facility rental rate? How much will be parking cost? If out of line, I would prefer to play at Memorial Stadium, Coppell, or Gerald Ford stadiums. The nut on the facility note is probably $1.5M a week. I like high school football but am not willing to pay $20 for a ticket and $20 to park my car. I am sure the coaches would like to play, but they are not thinking about the taxpayers.

Any ranking that has Allen or SLC number 1 is flawed. They both have losses. I think Allen is better than SLC this year though.

I think Allen is the best team in Texas right now. 5ATexasFootball.com has them #1. http://www.5atexasfootball.com/ssp/top_25

No human ranking has SLC #1 which I think is appropriate. SLC hasn't earned that ranking. However both Massey and Freeman computer models have SLC #1 in 5A.

There isn't a clear #1 in Texas 5A right now. There are a few undefeated teams but they either haven't looked as strong as #1 normally should or they have a weaker strength of schedule.

We will begin to sort it all out in less than two weeks.

I heard Jerry Jones lowered the facility rental to $15,000 for HS games. Ticket prices are set by the UIL (I believe) so the venue doesn't impact the price. I also believe that parking will be much cheaper than for Cowboys games. My guess is $10 for parking which is double the $5 parking charge they had at Texas Stadium.

Concessions, on the other hand, will be regular price so expect to pay around $10.00 for a hot dog and $8.50 for a drink.

They might want to rename the Po' Boy.

Maybe the Reasonably-Well-Off Boy, at minimum.

Sadly, those numbers look within 15%-20% of the prices that I see anywhere else in pro sports.
