Greg Scruggs
If this kid had been playing football since his freshman year....and had been lifting with football since his freshman year... i think he would have just as many if not MORE offers than Darius has now. The kid has never played football before and in his first football game saturday had 4.5 tackles and near 3 sacks in 3 quarters. He's 6'5 230 and runs a 4.7. I was very impressed with what he did saturday and come late in the season when he has experience i think he will be EXTREMELY impressive......oh, and he was offered by Miami (oh) sunday after the game.
Make it 7.

Wow, I didn't realize his stats were that good. He was also in position to make a few more plays, but just wasn't able to finish them.

I don't know where you got your information from but according to the St. Xavier web page he had one tackle (two assists). From what i saw that one tackle is correct, but he was close on very many.

He was close on many, hes got the body and the talent he just has to finish plays. I think that will come with time as he realizes what he has to do on the field, what positioning he has to put himself into and whatnot to make those big plays. You can't just expect him to come in and start tearing it up, I thought the WW game was a good learning experience and hopefully he just continues to get better, thats all you can really hope for.

I know all about his lack of experience but he just does not look like he has a clue out there to me. Maybe a great athlete, but not a football player. I doubt that he would even be on the field if Langen was still around.

Who are the 6 (7 now?) and where are their offers from? I can only ever track down 3 or 4 who actually have D1 offers....

Darius Ashley - Louisville, Virginia, Illinios, WV, Tenn, ect
Fred Craig - Stanford (committed)
Stephon Ball - Cincinnati, Miami, Eastern Michigan
Nick Schneider - Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan
Luca Romeo - Eastern Michigan, Army
Joe Richter - Air Force
Greg Scruggs - Miami (apparently)
Danny Milligan - Potential D 1 recruit
Pat Muldoon - Potential D 1 recruit
Gerry Riley - Potential D 1 recruit IMO, probably IVY
Evan Miller - Probably IVY
Ross Morand - Probably IVY
Max Bowman - Could play football somewhere if he wants to (injuries)
Andrew Carpender - Could play football somwhere
John Scheidler - Could play football somewhere
So that's 9 potential d 1 players if Milligan and Muldoon get offers like I expect them too. I wouldn't be suprised if Luca and Schneider ended up IVY as well if they don't get more offers (they will if they play all year like they did last week though). Milligan could go d 1 for kicking but if he wants to play wr as well he'd have to go to a smaller school.

I would be stunned if Schneider doesn't get some bigger offers before the end of the season.

I'd say next weeks game has the potential to change that list a lot. If St. X wins, or even if some of those players just play well in front of the ESPN cameras/crowds, against such a high quality opponent... there will be plenty of attention to go around.

Let's keep in mind that he isn't just trying to learn the basics of game such as tackeling properly, the correct stance to be in, and all of that, but he also has to learn X's defensive schemes which I think we can all agree are not your standard high school schemes.
P.s. Scruggs, in stature, reminded me a lot of a former Bomber DE that didn't start until his senior year (played all through hs and gs though) and wore the #5.

Albright.
he looks dead on Albright.
I think Scruggs can be a gem. When he gets down the game of football he'll be scary. The kid is just so athletic

scruggs is most certainly going to be a diamond in the rough...Im sure that many scouts heard ESPN commentators say he has only played for a few months and saw his potential. Chalk it up as a D1 offer....I also feel like Hurley showed a lot of people the type of player he could be, potential offers if he continues to play this strong. Also, would anybody go out on a limb and guess that patrick berning may get an offer...he ran all over a top team in the country on ESPN. The only reason his name wouldn't be heard by scouts is because he has been behind a very strong back his whole high school career. I may be a little crazy in my logic, but running of Mcleod and Tate might have opened a few recruiters eyes

Out of curiosity. Do you guys believe Scruggs would be at TE this year if Langen wouldnt have left?

They wanted him at TE originaly but we were too thin at DE so he was moved.
The only reason OSU hasnt offered him yet is becuase he is not at TE which is where they want to see him.
Michigan State is also close to offering him.
And Greg's top two are Louisville and Tennessee i think

Why is OSU after TEs when they already have 2 guys that can play TE for the 2008 class.

I think TG was saying that 'they' was X's coaching staff, not tOSU.

Correct, but it's also been established that OSU is projecting Greg as a TE and the reason they've held back on offering is the lack of film of him at TE. Apparently now that he's getting more big time offers they're going to look past that and offer him anyway before it's too late.

I have a feeling that if they offer Greg, it's going to be as a DE with the potential to play TE. I don't know that they're going to want let him get away just because they've already got a couple of guys who can play TE in Dilillo and Stoneburner.

My point exactly st X ts. I was wondering why they picked up Dilillo after they grabbed Stonebrunner. They have limited schollies this year and I would not have expected them to bring in two TEs. I have heard that Stonebrunner can play WR too though so we shall see.

i think you can add kuechley to the list of players who will get d-1 offers. from what ive heard this kid is the real deal at linebacker. with his athleticism and good frame 6-3 he could be a big time d-1 player.

Please, any school but Meatchicken. It makes it much harder to root for him at the next level.

I was just going to say that. Shame on OSU for not diggin their hands in first. This is a homegrown prospect they could be giving to their rival.
