They've almost always been left to their personal sandbox to the south. Most years you could go ahead and pencil them into the final 4 because that region was so bad. I'd be willing to bet that after a year they get reassigned to another region again. For this one year, it sure will be a lot of fun though. For all of you pissing and moaning about Mooney and Ursuline, the master scheduler and recruiter has arrived. |
They better not stay here for long. It makes no sense geographically speaking.
OHSAA comes through again. Haaaaaaa |

teams like have routinely moved back and forth between the 2 regions. |
Can't wait for a Mooney Big Red matchup. Those are classic battles.

Hope it's In The first rd

Could be. But also could be in the first -second rd.

Plus is mooney going to be that good this year?

I see Woodridge is gone too.

Beyond that they will rely on a ton of new faces this year. Despite a more competitive region, I expect Big Red to probably win this one. It won't be the cake walk they have had in the past though. |

I like this region better from a competitive stand point. I have to wonder if struthers and Steubenville will continue to scrimmage with this though.

He's only used the whole region/division excuse to not play Mooney. He doesn't mind scheduling Ursuline. And, no offense, I don't think he's ducking Struthers. Question though, is that scrimmage usually down on the river or in Struthers? |
Kuntz prefers to scrimmage away

No... like every scrimmage he's ever had has been away. He had like one at home.

and maybe he seeks out those that won't scrimmage on the road? In that case, he's the perfect foil for Reno. Steuby probably gives them a few bucks. |
My take.
More exposure on the road is a good thing. Especially a place like Harding Stadium. Nice scrimmaging a team that almost always goes far in the playoffs. I imagine they're well treated in Steubenville. Streetsboro is in our region. Wish we actually played them regular season. |

Idk why he does it to be honest. The field is good come week ten usually because the grounds crew works hard all year. They even go as far as limiting games from the little leagues on it. Either way I hope at least 5 local teams make the playoffs from this region. |
You'll probably get 4-5 Youngstown area teams

Lakeview could also make some noise. Salem/Girard are sleepers and could surprise people, especially Salem. Region is definitely a meat grinder now that Big Red was added. |
Girard has zero chance at making the playoffs. Zero.

Honestly thought girard would be decent

Mooney appears to have a slightly more manageable schedule. Ursuline's looks like suicide: 2017 Schedule 8/25 H Cleveland Benedictine 9/1 N Unknown Opponent (Ytown East again?) 9/8 H Akron Archbishop Hoban 9/15 A Massillon Washington 9/22 A Warren G Harding 9/29 N Unknown Opponent (RICC again?) 10/6 A Steubenville 10/14 H Boardman 10/20 A Youngstown Cardinal Mooney 10/27 A Akron St. Vincent-St Mary Looks like even 4 wins might be a challenge. :help: |

Benedictine East Harding? Boardman Mooney -unknown opponent Could be a playoff team in theory. |
