Mr. Football

As the season started yesterday for some & today for most.. who is your guys top candidates to take the title of "Mr. Football"..?! excited to see what this season has in store for us!

TroyTrojan05 08-25-17 09:51 AM

Raveion Hargrove- Trotwood-Madison

Krasula24 09-11-17 01:59 PM

As we are heading to the middle of the season already, has anyone put up any amazing numbers so far? Or is their anyone who we should keep an eye on?

Volnelk 09-11-17 02:02 PM

QB Jay Volpenhein at Anderson

63/101 for 1049 and 10 TDs/2Int after three games
also 349 yards rushing and 5 TDs.

Anderson looks much improved in comparison to the league they are in, so the stats the rest of the way should get pretty crazy.

BrutusBuckeye90 09-11-17 02:21 PM

Isaiah Bowser RB Sidney High School

830 Yards Rushing w/ 8 TDs. 128 Yards Receiving W/ 2 TDs. 3 games Played.

Raveion Hargrove - Trotwood Madison..

You can put all the stats up here you want. This kid has been putting up stats for a number of years and is hands down one of the best RB to come out of the Dayton area ever..

How do we know he is the "best" if you don't share some stats?

Yankeefan33 09-11-17 02:38 PM

Jackson Carman is the best player in the state, so him

thepolster 09-11-17 03:12 PM

Zach DiLauro, Akron Springfield

3rd team All Ohio as a jr
1st team all inland

52 solo tackles this year 3 games.

Some Raveion Hargrove stats per GWOC website:

2014 (Freshman) - 298 yards rushing/5.7 yards per carry/3 TD's
2015 (Sophomore) - 3039 yards rushing/11.3 yards per carry/41 TD's
2016 (Junior) - 1562 yards rushing/9.6 yards per carry/21 TD's
2017 so far (Senior) - 408 yards rushing/7.4 yards per carry/6 TD's

TroyTrojan05 09-11-17 05:21 PM

He will not get Mr. Football but the best player I've seen this year is Dezmin Lyburtus from Bellefontaine. I will also say Isaiah Bowser is a monster too.

StateChampion2012 09-11-17 06:09 PM

Raveion Hargrove is my first instinct for Mr. Football but certainly Bowser is definitely in the mix as long as he's healthy. Who knows it might depend on who goes farther in the playoffs.

Piqua and Troy aren't southwest- they're above Dayton. That's just west

They are technically SW Ohio though. About 70 miles north of Cincy.

If that's southwest then there is no western part of Ohio. Just a northwest and southwest.

I will add Ryan Montgomery to this conversation. Since we lost our stud senior QB expect his numbers to go up.

Curtis Enis from Mississinawa Valley in 1993. Darke County is generally considered SW Ohio.

Great start to the season & congrats on some post season awards, probably not a Mr. Football candidate without gaudy stats on O.

Since when has it been a career achievement award and not an award for best season?

nwwarrior09 09-12-17 12:36 PM

Daniel Bangura, RB Harvest Prep. He already has almost 1,100 yards through three games. I'd expect ungodly numbers since he ran for roughly 4,100 yards and 57 TDs last year in 14 games. I don't know if he'll win since he plays for a small private school, but I'd be shocked if he doesn't end up with the most eye popping stats. I believe he led the country in regular season rushing yardage last year.

America 09-12-17 12:46 PM

1. SW Ohio never seems to get it. Prime example is two years ago it was Larkin from LaSalle and the guy from M. Perry. LaSalle/Larkin absolutely manhandled Perry and their guy still got Mr. Ohio after doing nothing in the state final game. Hargrove from Trotwood is very talented and that's who I'd lean towards right now. The kid from Sidney is a solid player but I wouldn't say he is Mr. Football worthy. Another kid who could make a run for it next year is John Bivens from Alter. Him and Hargrove are the best running backs in Dayton.

Does the dude have an offer from anywhere?

I don't think so. His recruiting profiles have him listed at 5'10 170 lbs. I saw him play once last year and I'd say that's generous. He's probably more like 5'8 160 lbs. As far as D4-D7 goes though, he's the real deal. I think he's probably going to end up eclipsing 10k career rushing yards if Harvest Prep can win a couple playoff games again.

TIGER27 09-12-17 07:32 PM

This award lost all credibility when Lynn Bowden didn't win it.
