Soccer Thread

I have to say it's been pretty entertaining watching FIFA cannibalize itself the past few months.

Wilco98 10-28-15 06:43 PM

I'm more focused on the Columbus Crew and their MLS playoff performance. FIFA can stuff it for the time being.

Crusaders 10-28-15 06:55 PM

They've certainly turned it around quickly post-Warzycha

thavoice 10-29-15 10:35 AM

Stopped by the local HS soccer tournament game last saturday.

Still was boring and only lasted about 15 minutes.

Chop Stix 10-31-15 10:58 AM

Chelsea is so bad :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Crusaders 10-31-15 11:43 AM

I doubt Jose lasts another month

ronnie mund 10-31-15 12:21 PM

Would be so funny to see them get relegated lol

Crusaders 11-23-15 01:55 AM

The Crew won the first leg of the Eastern Conference final against New York Red Bulls, 2-0. Portland likewise beat Dallas 3-1 in the WC.

If Columbus and Portland advance, the MLS Cup final will be played in Columbus.

Glad to see soccer finally embracing its true identity:

The latest Stamford Bridge redesign proposal, 60,000 seats with Chelsea playing somewhere else for three seasons. Pretty ugly imo

Crusaders 12-01-15 09:08 PM

Hideous. Not sure what they're thinking with that design

ronnie mund 12-01-15 09:16 PM

The vast majority of people seem to really like it, from what I'm reading.

Sig Hansen 12-01-15 09:34 PM

Seems like it would be pretty easy to change the outer shell of the design. Interior and size of the stadium are what's important. They should have gone with something like St. James Park model. Pretty simple and looks awesome but still has the classic English look.

Hank Moody 12-02-15 01:43 AM

I think it will look better in person. The brick is nice.

Anyone heading to Columbus this Sunday for the MLS Cup Final?

Chop Stix 12-06-15 05:21 PM

Portland Timbers win their first MLS Cup. Very deserving franchise with a magnificent fanbase that built their team up the right way.

Pretty wild game and I thought the crowd/atmosphere at Crew Stadium came across well on TV. BTW, the ref redefined the concept of "letting them play" that's for sure.

Crusaders 12-06-15 08:01 PM

That first goal was horrible. Pick the thing up.

Euro 2016 draw

Go Germany and Iceland

Hank Moody 01-10-16 12:29 AM

Poor Ireland

Crusaders 06-11-16 10:44 AM

Euro 2016 kicked off today in France.

So far, France defeated Romania 2-1 in the opener, and Switzerland topped Albania 1-0 in Albania's first ever Euro match.

Wales vs Slovakia begins in about 20 minutes.

England vs Russia at 3pm.

All matches are on ESPN.

Crusaders 06-11-16 01:07 PM

Nice to see Wales get their first ever Euro win. Going to be tough sledding against England and Russia, but anything can happen in rivalries.

Crusaders 06-11-16 03:19 PM

Heck of a game between England and Russia. Both sides have had great opportunities to score

vamp2syd 06-11-16 03:46 PM

France scored that goal late....

USA vs Paraguay in a must not lose game....

Crusaders 06-11-16 03:48 PM

Wow goal at 90+ minutes from Russia to tie. 1-1.

The US hasn't looked very good since the WC. I'm not confident they'll win tonight.

I'm sure the drunken English hooligans will accept the draw in their usual subdued, courteous and peaceful manner.

Crusaders 06-11-16 06:39 PM

Apparently it was the Russian fans who were instigating problems after the game

BlackHawk 06-11-16 07:44 PM

The Russians instigated? I expected the English fans to cause the trouble.

Meanwhile, USA trying to hold on against Paraguay playing a man down.

Two great saves by Guzan around the 81st minute.
USA!

Crusaders 06-11-16 07:48 PM

I'm sure the English fans didn't help matters but I've read the Russians started the problems.

Yedlin getting a red is really bad. What a dumb move.

Guzan has to be the MOTM if they pull this out

BlackHawk 06-11-16 07:53 PM

Six minutes stoppage time? WTF? I don't know if I've ever seen that much.
