2018 record prediction with explanation

How do you think the team you cheer for will finish record wise for the 2018 regular season. Include a explanation short or lengthy of why you think this. Does your team have high expectations? are they rebuilding? Feel free to call your wins and losses.

sportster4321 06-15-18 09:30 PM

2018 Hubbard Eagles
8-2, 9-1
The Eagles return a lot with a handful eligible who previously weren't for 2017. This includes do it all running back Ralph Morales. The eagles have nice size and a lot of speed. Question marks will be the passing game. Did Daniels improve? Will the team run a 2 QB system. The final question mark lies on the offensive line. They were young last year but made strides as the season progressed. Will a strong off season translate to the playing field for these hogs? We shall see. I like the eagles to have a big year. Possible losses to Poland, Struthers, or Howland. 10-0 could be possible but one step at a time.

StateChampion2012 06-15-18 11:34 PM

Coldwater 7-3 to 8-2

Coldwater is trying to rebuild. We have depth at the skill positions but have no clue who will be playing Qb. Our offensive line needs major improvement from last year.

jackson03 06-16-18 11:43 AM

Massillon Jackson - I really have no idea. People close to the program are enthused, numbers are high, and they'll have the size to compete with everyone. Replacing a D1 QB is no easy task. The entire Fed is rebuilding. Boardman may be the toughest team on the schedule. Central might be good. No one else pops out but I expect McKinley and Perry to be at least solid.

Hinges on the defense. It was god awful last year. If they improve, I like 7-3 and a road playoff game. If it doesn't improve, the season could get ugly fast.

brian1227 06-16-18 12:06 PM

Nordonia 8 2 got nyles beverly, no explanation needed.

Raider6309 06-16-18 12:46 PM

Athens 9-1. Probably drop a game since we have no running backs but our area is pretty bad

0-16gobrowns 06-16-18 02:55 PM

Pick Central 8-2 to 9-1

Defending D1 State Champs have a tough task replacing an experienced and talented recently graduated senior class. But Central is LOADED with speed and depth at the skill positions. Demetric Crenshaw is the top duel threat QB in the state. Early contests against Pilllips(IL) and Trotwood Madison will will only help the youngsters get ready for the always tough OCC Ohio division

McDonald D6 R21, 9-1.

8-2 last season, losses in OT by 1 and a miracle KR for td with 10 seconds left. Return a 1400 yard back, another 1100 yard back, and overall 18/22 starters. Will need to have an improved passing game to make noise against the top teams in the region like Mogadore and Kirtland

Champ Kind 06-16-18 06:45 PM

Vanlue 0-10

The program is still trying to develop where it can compete weekly. Even the poor non-conference opponent week one doesn't provide any optimism for a win. Once the Kloepher children get old enough to play high school sports the district might experience a few wins.

7/3.

Kenton really came on last year so that week 1 is not a gimmie and since they will be breakin in a new QB and the line will be a WIP.......they could and likely start 0-2

Cougarfan22 06-17-18 07:30 AM

Hoban 14-1 repeats as D2 state champs. Currently 9 players with D1 offers. Loaded sophomore class that will produce many more. Returns 3 starting OL, entire backfield and 1 receiver. Also benefits from JR TE transfer back from Moeller who started as a freshman. Defense lost 6 starters but have one of the best DC’s in the state and always reload. Returns entire kicking game as well. Inccoming freshman class will be fielding 2 teams with around 60 athletes. Season opens up at D1 preseason #1 Ignatus and then @ D1 Wayne. History says they lose 1st game and then run the table. If so, 56-4 and 4 titles over last 4 years is possible.

Irish60 06-18-18 06:54 AM

STVM could go 7-3; and with the schedule they will have, that will be an accomplishment. They have the skill players. The question will be the same as last year, "How far will the O-line carry them?" I look for that unit to progress from last year. If they do, then they will have a legitimate shot at the D3 title. With CB depleting D3, and with the bulk of the remaining D3 powers being in Columbus and points south, the Irish should be looking forward to a deep playoff run.

Orangeman89 06-18-18 08:51 AM

Akron Ellet, 3-6 last year to 6-4.
Mainly due to a pretty friendly schedule but they should be improved some from last year. They were very young and despite losing their stud RB to Akron East they still have talent there.

Paladin1aa 06-18-18 08:55 AM

Cortland Lakeview finishes no worse than 7-3. However, if the transfers workout, 8-2 is possible and might repeat last years 9-1 again. Skilled athletes overflow.

1disciple 06-18-18 12:28 PM

Sylvania Southview 3-7 the team just isn't what it used to be. Kids aren't eager to play for Mayzes.

BlessEmAll 06-18-18 03:08 PM

Milton-Union. SWBL Buckeye. 7-3 (5-1) playoff birth DV
Dogs get back Coach Pearce who lead them to a couple of State regional title games.
The Dogs lose some firepower on offense and defense needs to fill some gaps.
Games with Middletown Madison, Valley View and Miami East will likely spell losses for them, all three were playoff teams and return ton of talent. Carlisle, Waynesville, Oakwood and Preble Shawnee will challenge the Bulldogs as well. Dark horse game would be vs Northwestern in Springfield.

Shaker Heights: 4-6 last year. This year, they'll probably finish either 1-9 or 3-7.

They are losing two of their top players from last season who carried the team the entire way. Plus, the roster size has dwindled big time over the past few years.

Shaw will be a definite win.
Benedictine could possibly go either way.
Austintown Fitch, Brunswick, Medina, Mentor, Strongsville, and Euclid will all be losses.
Solon is not going to lose to Shaker Heights again after what happened last year.

Elyria and Benedictine are toss-ups. IMO, the Benedictine game will determine how the rest of the season goes.

Yellow_Jacket06 06-20-18 06:47 PM

Sidney: 10-2 last year, best season since 1989 and just second playoff appearance.

There will be a drop off with RB Isaiah Bowser (Northwestern) graduating and QB Andre Gordon transferring to Huntington Prep for basketball. Just taking a guess they'll probably be 5-5 at best or 2-8 at worst. Could be wrong and hopefully I am.

Didn't realize Gordon transferred? Did he have any offers for football? That hurts bad.

erdna 06-21-18 02:49 AM

Steubenville 15-0 Repeat State Champs

Loaded at the skill positions with a big physical line. Qb & Rb have the potential to be player of the year in D4. Defense has to replace some key loses but should be stout.

IndianaBanana 06-21-18 04:32 AM

Fort Recovery (5-5)
Young team, gotta rebuild.

Lehman (L)-They finally beat the Indians
Valley View (L)
Minster (W)-Great Rivalry, coin flip
New Bremen (W)
Coldwater (L)-Don't care what the CW posters are saying in the other threads
Parkway (W)
Anna (W)
St. Henry (W)-Copy+Paste Minster
Marion Local (L)
Versailles (L)-They always have purple and white's number on the gridiron

Football Fanatik 06-21-18 07:29 AM

Canton Central Catholic 6-4. Deep playoff run

Gordon is transferring but not to Harvest Prep. Heís going to Huntington Prep in West Virginia, the school that Miles Bridges and Andrew Wiggins played for.

Spread All Day 06-21-18 03:01 PM

Struthers
I’ll say anywhere from 6-4 to 8-2.

They return a lot and have a very good junior class coming up. The schedule is weak for the most part. Possible loses include Canfield Poland Hubbard and Lakeview. I feel like they will
Finish 7-3 with a playoff spot again.

You are not beating Minster, ST Henry AND Anna. Likely you get just one of them.

sapientia et veritas 06-21-18 06:11 PM

Columbus Bishop Hartley

Reloaded with a ton of speed and strength. Great class of Juniors.. Should do as well or better than last season if they qualify for playoffs. Hartley and DeSales are the two best teams in the region but both are competing for playoff berths against teams with relatively less strong schedules.

08/24 A Toledo Central Catholic - toss up. Edge to Irish
08/31 H Wheelersburg - win by < 10 Pirates are strong physical team who can hang with hawks
09/07 H Columbus Bishop Ready - Hawks by a lot
09/14 H Chillicothe - Hawks by a lot
09/21 A Clarksville Clinton-Massie - toss up. Expect CM to win
09/28 H Columbus Bishop Watterson - Hawks by a lot
10/06 A Dayton Belmont - Hawks by 10+
10/12 A Columbus St. Francis DeSales - toss up. Stallions by < 7
10/19 H North Canton Hoover - Hawks win more comfortably than last season
10/26 A Columbus St. Charles - Blow out 5+ TDs in first half

Hawks 7-3 or 8-2. Potentially on playoff bubble

Chisel 06-21-18 06:14 PM

Wapakoneta redskins-

Went 6-4 last year. Thai year I think they’ll go 7-3(playoffs?)Losses to Bellefontaine, st Mary’s and Elida. Just not as talented and intimidating as they’ve been in years past. I believe they could beat Every team I listed but it’ll be hard. One team I think is a dark horse is Kenton. They should’ve beat them last year but luckily Kenton got to comfortable with a big lead and let it slip.

LICKING COUNTY FAN 06-21-18 06:48 PM

Newark Catholic 3-7 2017
2018 schedule

@Maysville(W)
@Seneca East(W)
Columbus Academy(W)
Watkins(L)Close
@Licking Heights(L)Blow out

Utica(W)
@Johnstown(L) Blow out
Licking Valley(L)Blow Out
@Heath(W) Close
Northridge(W) Pay Back
6-4 but I would not be shocked by 4-6 with the two additional loses being Maysville and S East

Julian and Ricky 06-21-18 06:53 PM

Moeller
2017: 4-7
Projection: 10-0
This team is a loaded with experienced players on both sides of the ball and they have enough talented younger players to fill in the few holes that remain. Rumor has it the crusaders have a transfer qb coming in so that should create some competition for the starting position. This team is filled with dudes.
