Ohio State Recruiting 2018

No rest for the weary right?[emoji41] With Jones and Snead pretty much on board who else will join the class?

Carmen and Gill, both from Ohio are near locks. Expect 2018 to be close to 2017 in terms of overall rankings. Emory Jones is putting in work.

WinstonSmith 02-06-17 09:27 PM

Jaiden Woodbey, 4 star safety and 32d overall player commits. Same high school as Wyatt Davis.

It will be interesting to see how Gill comes back this coming season from this past season's injury.

The kid is/was one heck of a talent prior to the injury.

You really see them both as locks? They are must-haves for Urban, but I don't consider any kid a lock to his home state school anymore. Recruiting is more national than ever.

Yeah.

WinstonSmith 02-20-17 12:10 PM

Disappointed to see Haskell Garrett's cousin and the top LB in the country committed to USC. A lot of people had him projected to OSU.

Westerville South's Gill to announce college choice

Ohio State coaches await word today from a recruit in the 2018 cycle, Westerville South running back Jaelen Gill.

The No. 3 all-purpose back prospect in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings, Gill has scheduled a news conference this afternoon to announce his college choice from a list that includes Ohio State, Michigan, Texas, UCLA and Southern California.

WinstonSmith 03-01-17 03:37 PM

Jaelen Gill commits to OSU. He looks to be pretty dynamic.

IMG Academy DT Taron Vincent verbals to tOSU: http://www.espn.com/college-sports/r...its-ohio-state

Literally a big "get" for Meyer; Taron is Troy Vincent's son and has been groomed to be a NFL star since birth. No matter what the kid says this is more about tOSU being a proving ground for future NFL talent than anything else.

WinstonSmith 04-03-17 08:25 AM

HUGE commit. Urban finally lands the elusive top-end DT. It seems like this guy will stick, too.

WinstonSmith 04-03-17 08:26 AM

Granted it's only 5 commits so far, but the average commit is over a 98 rating. To compare, this past 2017 class had an average just over 95.

Michael Bluth 04-03-17 09:20 AM

Big time boom

Sounds like the family has a good relationship with Larry Johnson, so if that's the primary reason he committed, that's something that usually sticks

WinstonSmith 04-03-17 09:28 AM

His dad is Troy Vincent (former NFL safety) and it sounds like he's had a relationship with Larry Johnson for some time.

Who would think a 6' 200 lbs. NFL DB would father a 6'2" 300 lbs. NFL caliber DT?

EagleGuy 04-03-17 03:02 PM

Nice.

Cleveland Opening was this weekend and the big winner was Tyreke Smith, tested well and held his own vs. Jackson Carman in drills. Got an invite to the national. By the way, Carman didn't pass the look test. Still a big strong kid with a nasty streak but needs to stay in shape, appears he is taking the spring off and needs to shed some belly fat and man boobs according to a few folks that were at the combine. He will realize quickly that football is now a year round sport.

He still got an invite to The Finals, which only 4 of the 300 or so kids there get.

He already had an invite in his pocket because of his lofty ranking. Still a must take based off of the film but if he were to go to tOSU Mickey Marotti would not allow him to look like that at any point during the year.

scotty99 04-12-17 09:01 AM

He is apparently in the 340's right now but plans on dropping to 315 for the season.

Taco MacArthur 04-15-17 09:18 AM

Ohio State gets a commitment from 2018 4* OT (#4 OT in the class) Max Wray. Visited for the first time a few weeks ago and apparently Urban and co. blew him and his family away. Big commitment, the line needs it.

Apparently his younger brother, 2020 OT, is supposed to be better and wants to play with his older brother.

EagleGuy 04-15-17 02:02 PM

Nice.

WinstonSmith 04-15-17 02:23 PM

Josh Proctor, 4* safety and number 87 overall recruit has also committed. He was previously a 100% crystal ball to Oklahoma.

WinstonSmith 04-15-17 02:23 PM

Two more commits and the average player rating is still over 97. By far the highest of any team at this point.

Taco MacArthur 04-15-17 04:26 PM

Read some guys in the know expect 2 or 3 more commitments today.

Taco MacArthur 04-17-17 07:00 AM

Welp, so much for that.

FormerWildcat 04-18-17 12:05 PM

The Wray commitment is a huge deal. It made big waves locally.
