Uh, pretty nice loooking field. Uh, good year for Troy to stop scrimmaging Reynoldsburh and take on Lima Senior! Uh, should be a good experience for both teams.

still miss the old stadium, but understand that it had to come down. The old stadium was a classic

Great Venue!

Those of us in Ytown know the new stadium is great, but the scoreboard/sound system sets in apart.

Now if they can get rid of the portapotties....

The entire TRAC (Three Rivers Athletic Conference) has phenomenal venues.

Toledo St. Francis has a nice field but smaller venue. They play all home games down the street at the Toledo Glass Bowl.

Spartan87, any pics of the home side?

eastisbest 08-11-18 08:36 AM

Ross is the only thing approaching "phenominal." The rest are rinse and repeat plastics surrounded by asphalt surrounded by aluminum. Sightlines the same, game the same, atmosphere the same. Nothing bad, but nothing unique.

Now if we could just renovate/replace the visitors side.

"phenominal"? Unsure I understand the misspelled in quotes? Help me out here.

I happen to like them all. Not a bad venue in the league. I personally like Oregon Clay's most. Concrete stands on both sides. New press box. Away press box. Wide walkway up top on both side which allows you to follow the action. Not a bad seat in the house. Only downfall is a late season NE wind. Brrrrrrr.

I was speaking in Eastbonics so you'd understand.

Clay has a nice feel. Still too far from the game and concessions. It'd be my second favorite. Whitmer has that nice location surrounded by the school and a great scoreboard. It has the best, you know you're at a high school feel.

Fremont has that walk-up feel, right in the neighorhood. Particularly nice around Halloween FremontK has a point, visitor's side could have better sightline but you know.. visitors, they wnt nice stands they should pay for them.

AmustangE 08-11-18 02:03 PM

I think all high school football stadiums, both large and small, have things about them that are unique and make them special. Of course, they are always most special to the home teams and fans. To a visitor, some look almost identical to each other, but not to the home fans.

I tend to like to look around and the background each provides. Trees behind an endzone or the stands. Track vs. no track. Sometimes the school in the background. Sometimes the school is nowhere in view. They're all different, and I've been to very few that don't have at least a few redeeming qualities.

All turf in the TRAC...

Nothing beats the neighborhood feel at Don Paul in Fremont. A cool fall night with a couple front yard campfires tops it all off.

Any report from how Lima and Troy went? Good, bad, ugly?

Spartan87 08-12-18 05:33 PM

Lima Senior's line play needs some improvement, both sides. Skill positions are solid, got speed to burn there.. Quarterback is a question mark. One kid went down in the scrimmage. One of the other kids, doesn't throw too well, but had a 80 yd td run on a great read option.. Kid is fast as hell.. Stable of running backs..

This is a Troy article but it gives some insight on the night:

Article in duh'blah about stadiums. The guy reads the threads for ideas and quotes.

Had the first one wrong, presuming an implied order. Named Fremont Ross twice, but in the "and also" category. Named Start. Start? Seriously? If I were to name a second place in the TCL it would be Woodward. Home and Visitors on the same side of a turf field (though they may by now have built a visitor's side). Either way, you're practically at field level without having to stand. Scott used to have best mascot, hands down. Now at worse, it's close. The Polar Bear has some dance moves and works great with the kids. Their band director does a lot with his one tuba and couple drummers. Seriously, he does a good job with the number of kids he's got. Maybe the best in the city league. Certainly better than their northside private school neighbors.

Trailsendcustom 08-16-18 06:25 PM

I'm convinced Fremont's stadium is the worst in the league. It's tall!! Woo hoo. That's it. You can't see the near sideline from the home side and you can't see over the players on the visitors side. If you have little ones you can't responsibly sit in the top row to see anything either because of the open bleachers as well. Last year I even fixed the plumbing for the bathroom sinks at halftime of a game because it was going to flood out the whole building and they had no one there that could fix it.
