NHL Hockey thread

We are within a few weeks of the NHL playoffs beginning. Thought it might be a good time to get discussion going. There are 7 teams within 10 points of the second seed in the Eastern division. Tampa is solidly in first.

Crusaders 03-03-19 05:07 PM

I think the Pens should have moved on from Sullivan. I don't see them going far with him. I think the players have mostly tuned him out and his use of the personnel has been really bad

Sig Hansen 03-03-19 09:58 PM

Blue Jackets just dropped another crucial game to Winnipeg. If they fail to make the playoffs after going all in with the trade for Duchene and choosing to keep Parnarin and Bobrovsky it will be absolutely devastating for the franchise. 4 way race between Columbus, Pittsburgh, Carolina and Montreal for three playoff spots, with 17 games to go.

2 big games coming up CBJ v Pens.

Questionable decision to sit Bob tonight as the CBJ is a far better road team than at home. They should be all in for this game and worry about the next one tomorrow.

thavoice 03-07-19 03:12 PM

Bob and the Jackets have been bad against the Pens and they are just trying to shake it up.

I predict it works out and CBJ sweep the Pens.

Irwin20 03-08-19 05:17 AM

Pens win 3-0. CBJ again tomorrow and Bruins on Sunday.

I can see that same with Torts and the CBJ. After awhile it gets stale, especially when not winning, and it's like 'Shut up!!'

I still think the CBJ and Pens both make it in. I see Montreal or Carolina fading down the stretch.

The playoffs, as always, will be a blast to watch.
Go Leafs Go!

Pens end BRUINS 19 game point streak (14-0-5) win 4-2. Boston hadn't lost since Jan 19th.

Irwin20 03-13-19 05:35 AM

Pens score 3 goals in 2 minute span in 2nd period to down Caps 5-3. Playing with urgency. CBJ beat the Bruins.

Irwin20 03-18-19 08:47 AM

Watched Pens/Flyers last night. As the clock wound done with a 1-0 lead I was thinking it can't possibly happen again. Flyers then score with 13 seconds remaining and win in OT with 3.4 seconds remaining. Unbelievable.

Irwin20 03-26-19 05:16 AM

Pens win again 5-2 over the Rangers. 3-0-1 road trip. They may actually end up 1st in the Metropolitan conference, one point behind the Caps.

Irwin20 04-01-19 05:13 AM

One more win and the Pens are in the Playoffs.

vamp2syd 04-01-19 08:05 AM

BJ's getting hot at the right time.....

looking for Carolina to lose so we can also get the Canadians into the playoffs.....

Irwin20 04-06-19 06:38 AM

Playoffs start soon. Still some positioning needs completed into the last weekend. I'm going with the obvious and picking Tampa as the ultimate champion. Tampa beats Pittsburgh in the East and Calgary over Nashville in the West.

Sig Hansen 04-06-19 09:21 PM

Montreal finishes with 96 points (more than Vegas, Dallas and Colorado in the West) but still misses the playoffs. Sucks, but Ryan Poehling made his debut tonight and scored a hat trick plus the overtime winner. Sweet way to end the season going into next year

Columbus gets Tampa and will most likely get bounced in the first round again. Harsh

Crusaders 04-06-19 09:27 PM

East is set:

Tampa Bay
Columbus

Boston
Toronto

Washington
Carolina

NY Islanders
Pittsburgh

Sig Hansen 04-06-19 09:34 PM

Tampa in 5
Boston in 6
Carolina in 7
Pittsburgh in 6

ronnie mund 04-06-19 09:34 PM

Go Canes! Would love to go to a game.

Crusaders 04-07-19 12:05 AM

West

Nashville
Dallas

Winnipeg
St. Louis

Calgary
Colorado

San Jose
Vegas

Crusaders 04-07-19 12:10 AM

Rough way to end the year for McDavid

Killer Joe 04-10-19 08:50 PM

Wow, what an incredible comeback by CBJ. Down 3-0 in the first to go on to win 4-3. Unbelievable!!!

vamp2syd 04-10-19 08:52 PM

Great start for the NHL playoffs with the great comeback in game 1 for Columbus....

Game 2 between Islanders and Pens are tied 2-2, looking forward to a possible OT....

Crusaders 04-10-19 09:31 PM

Some great games so far tonight. Love playoff hockey

Crusaders 04-10-19 09:49 PM

Pens need to avoid OT going forward. Terrible defense.

Big Islanders fan this week

thavoice 04-11-19 07:28 AM

Typically I wouldn't think a game one loss by TB would have a lasting effect on a series, but having a 3-0 lead, at home, against a team you dominated all season and has been in playoff mode for weeks, could be the beginning of the end for them.

I could see that really up their pucker factor. They haven't had to ratchet it up in quite awhile and I would not be surprised to see CBJ win the series now.

This was a better win for CBJ than if they had lead from the start in this gam

Let's go Jackets! Savard undressed Hedman on the Jackets second goal then went top shelf.
