The Prodigy Novice Camp is developed for the wrestler at the beginning of their wrestling journey. Coaches will focus on the basic fundamentals and techniques that every wrestler needs to know in a fun and exciting environment. Topics will include positioning, movement, agility, takedowns, defense, top and bottom. This camp is a great camp to introduce wrestlers to the sport and to review what a wrestler has learned in their first year or two in the sport.

Prodigy Skills and Drills Camp (June 4th – 8th) - Core Prodigy Skills and Drills taught throughout the season. A Must for all wrestlers of all ages. Good habits with good reptition. This camp is a great lead in to the advanced camp. Suggested for grade school and junior high wrestlers of all abilities AND intermediate high school wrestlers.

Prodigy Skills and Drills Camp will focus on developing a solid foundation for all wrestlers through drilling and skills work of solid wrestling technique and position. Wrestlers will learn different types of drilling throughout the camp that will help them improve different areas of wrestling while learning solid technique that can win at any level. This camp will be a higher intensity camp and is geared toward the intermediate and advanced wrestler that has two or more years of wrestling experience! It is encouraged that wrestlers be ready physically and mentally for tough drilling sessions and live wrestling.

Prodigy Advanced Technique and Intensity Camp (June 11th – 15th) - A follow up camp for the skills camp that will start to put together the technique learned with handfighting, hard drilling, controlled tie-ups, and finishes. Suggested for advanced Grade School wrestlers, intermediate junior high wrestlers, and all high school wrestlers.

9 am – 2 pm $200 (+ Tax) – 5 days/10 total sessions

Prodigy’s Top Level camp is a continuation of the Skills and drills camp, designed to push wrestlers to develop their technique through drilling and live wrestling situations. This camp is intended for junior high and high school wrestlers, as well as advanced grade school wrestlers. Any truth to the rumor that Coach Wineberg applied for the Mason Head Position?

Prodigy Wrestling 08-15-17 06:59 PM

There is no truth to that rumor.

I think Mason is an amazing program and think that the coaches who have been there have done a great job with building a program for the long haul. I hope that they are able to find a coach willing to continue the work that has been put into that program and I hope it continues to flourish.

I am very happy at Prodigy with the chance to see my family more often in the winter than any high school head coach is able to do. It is a grueling job, especially if you want to be able to compete at a high level. I applaud the coaches that can do it and find balance in their lives with their families.

Willie Wineberg's Prodigy Wrestling Academy @ Powerstation Gym

http://prodigywrestlingacademy.com/w...erstation-gym/

We are excited to announce that Prodigy Wrestling Academy will be moving its operation and training programs to Powerstation Gym in Franklin, Ohio.

Powerstation Gym ended up being the best fit for our growing program. It will offer:

3200 Square feet of permanent mat space
viewing area for parents above the mats
Apparel shop with PWA Wrestling Gear
Food counter with pre-/post- workout drink/food/shake options
LARGE locker room and restroom
Online Software and organized check-in

We will continue all of our current training programs with plans to expand our offerings. Powerstation Gym is 6 miles (about 9 min.) away from Exit 73 (where Prodigy was). We hope that those who have used Prodigy Wrestling Academy as a resource will continue as we make this change. We also hope that we can offer more to wrestlers in the Northern Cincinnati area with it being 10 minutes closer for them.

Freestyle and Greco training will continue through May 23rd at Prodigy Wrestling Academy.

Prodigy's 2018 Summer Camps will take place at Powerstation Gym!

Please be patient as we make the many changes needed on our website, social media, and flyers. We appreciate the many offerings of support from the wrestling community.

When will he be having ACL surgery? Obviously not prior to this camp where he is showing technique... any insight?

He said last night that he would be having the surgery very soon - want to say within the next week or so. He also said that he plans to compete for the next 6 years or so. Looking forward to him getting back on the mat after the surgery - hopefully everything goes really well for him. Really good young man.

Skills and Drills Camp Vs. Advanced Technique and Intensity Camp

Parents always wonder which Prodigy Camp would best fit their wrestler. This is a great question because they want a camp that is not too easy, but it has to be something that they can handle or they won't be able to learn as much. The goal is always to improve!

To answer that question, understand that we run our camps so that they build off of one another and work together to build the complete wrestler. Both weeks are beneficial no matter what level or age a wrestler is. I usually break it down this way when talking to parents:

Skills and Drills Camp - This camp is MUST KNOW technique for all wrestlers. It is making sure that wrestlers know how to hit doubles, singles, high crotches, fireman's carries, sprawls, snaps, front headlocks, stand-ups, breakdowns, and pins correctly. We spend A LOT of time on this throughout the season with our training. I can say that wrestlers may know these moves, but they need the repetition and relearning to work towards perfecting this technique. This camp is GREAT for intermediate/advanced youth and junior high (with at least 1 year experience), and beginning/intermediate high school wrestlers. The pace will be constant and moves will be broken down into series of drills to put together for an end result.

Advanced Technique and Intensity Camp
- This is the follow up camp to the Skills and Drills Camp. In this camp we will be ADDING ON TO the technique learned the previous week, putting the technique together into chain wrestling, and learning various ways of drilling the technique to effectively master the technique in the future. We will concentrate on hand fighting, controlled ties, and setting up shots. There will be lots of drilling throughout with an expectation of intensity throughout.

I hope this answers some questions, for more information on registration and sign-ups please go to: http://prodigywrestlingacademy.com/willie-winebergs-2018-prodigy-wrestling-summer-camps-registration-open-now/
