D IV Region 13 Championship: Steubenville (12-0) vs Perry Pirates (12-0)

Rematch from the State Semi Final last year where Big Red won 51-27.

Now they meet in the Regional Final

Thoughts on the game?

kingpin2010 11-11-17 12:45 PM

Game was in Boardman last year, probably expect a return

RollRed 11-11-17 12:46 PM

UPDATE:

Game will be held in Niles at Bo Rein Memorial Stadium

Spartan0505 11-11-17 12:48 PM

Boardman didn't bid because they are hosting a big school play and were worried about parking issues and Fitch is under construction.

Cannoli137 11-11-17 04:01 PM

Perry has wanted this game all season, according to their coach, now they get it. Let’s see if all that hard work during the off-season has paid off.
BR can’t have turnovers inside the Redzone, like vs Mooney, and definitely need to get those stupid personal foul penalties under control.

sportster4321 11-11-17 04:02 PM

Big Red by 3 scores.

Good luck, Perry! Bring another regional championship back to Lake County!

The irony of a BR fan quoting Mike Tyson is pretty epic.

Nah no way. I’m thinking this is a TD ball game

How does this year's team compare to their squad from last season out of curiosity? Any idea?

Old Stubber 11-11-17 08:00 PM

Big Red must end the stupid penalties they keep bringing on themselves. I think once again it will be the control of the line of scrimmage belonging to the Big Red line and the depth of the Big Red running backs which will decide the game.

I believe Rosati said Perry was only losing 8 seniors after last year's game. So I'm guessing 1 more year of experience would bring some improvement.

I'm sure someone in Lake County has at least one regional championship. I think they're just saying, "Bring one to accompany that other one some other Lake County team has!"

Epic would be Big Red meeting those fish from John Glenn. The whippin we’d put on those junior muskies would give you even more to hate Big Red.

Paladin1aa 11-11-17 10:55 PM

I think the Ville wins this one but should be an entertaining game. May go see it.

Lake County is the home of Mentor, Lake Catholic, and Kirtland. So the county has seen football success. Just not in D4.

Since we beat them in the "State Semis" last year, I'm going to go out a limb and say they do own a regional title.

Watching you and the chubby golf coach trying so hard to hurt my feelings will be fun. I'll be at the Massie/Wyoming game this week. If you like, I can let you know how your finals opponent looks.

bigbird999 11-12-17 07:50 AM

Yes Perry won in the regionals last year and got beat in semis. Perry by a touchdown IF they win the turnover battle. Will have to lean heavily on their front 7 to stop the run game and on the OLine to minimize damage from their front 7.

Yep they only lost 8 seniors, I know one of their better WRs this year is a kid who didnt play the past couple of years. He was a member of the Pirates' state-qualifying 4x100 relay team last spring. Not bad that he is also 6'2. So they lost talent, found talent, and had talent gain experience.

BIG RED 11-12-17 10:50 AM

Perry has played NOBODY with a diversified offense like Big Red! Name me “1” team they played that’s even remotely comparable to the Big Red defense?!

ferflog 11-12-17 11:53 AM

Our passing game has to click better than it has for the past few weeks. RRR!!!

Steubenville is a great team so I would say that's true. It seems they have been a bit run heavy in the past, is that the case this year or did they also develop a passing game? That being said if you don't need to run the ball then more power to you.

Bigger, stronger, faster,

Foster 11-12-17 01:34 PM

Does Perry have a running game to compliment their passing?
