That's just creepy, dude.

PeterDragon 09-24-17 07:18 PM

Do you go to these games alone?

200 plus miles to watch 2 CPS schools. You sir are dedicated. You deserve a purple heart for watching KY football.

LICKING COUNTY FAN 09-24-17 07:24 PM

Yes I go alone. My friend who seems way more game then I do goes with his wife.

EagleFan 09-24-17 07:35 PM

You have two Game 35's. And geeesh that's a lot of football. Mix in some college ever?

I will correct that.

Wait until the other guy(A friend) post his. It will make mine look small.

SLhornet 09-24-17 08:20 PM

That is a lot of football. In your opinion, besides the Allstars games, what was the best game? Atmosphere? And team?

LICKING COUNTY FAN 09-24-17 08:33 PM

Best game if forced to pick just one
Huntington at Belfry
Belfry does not lose at home and they had a 20 point lead

From my list
Best team:Huntington, W,VA

Best Atmosphere: Belfry, Kentucky
Great stadium, crazy fans and good food

SLhornet 09-24-17 08:40 PM

Thanks, someday I hope to go to more. Some great stadiums and teams out there. Thanks for sharing.

LICKING COUNTY FAN 09-24-17 08:43 PM

Anytime.

Half the fun in the traveling is seeing new stadiums and news places.
Of course there are some, like Belfry that I try to hit yearly.

That's almost psychotic.

LICKING COUNTY FAN 09-24-17 09:40 PM

We all have our own form of entertainment and this is just my way.
That is why I do not (that you have) disrespect others for the things they enjoy, as far as entertainment goes.

You called?

As for my list, which I'll post eventually, is just varsity HS Football games. I don't attend the all-star games or JV (usually).

This year, I've only been to 23 varsity games so far. But, have managed games in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, and Alabama in six weeks.

My record for varsity games in a season was 127 back in 2014. Though that was fun, it's near impossible to beat that so why try. I'm more interested in seeing teams and stadiums I haven't been to yet now.

grapeape 09-25-17 12:55 AM

I dont know if you are aware, but Mike Mauk has a team in Missou busting records!

Like to travel: check.
Like football: check.
Like to combine the aforementioned: check.

If you have the means and the motive, why not?

It may not sound like fun to you. But then again, what you find fun to do in your spare time might be just as odd to us.

Does anyone ever suggest an itinerary?

Here is a suggestion for Week 7.

Thur Oct 5 -- Johnstown-Monroe at Newark Catholic -- One of the only games happening that Thursday in Ohio.

Fri Oct 6 -- Medina Buckeye at Sullivan Black River -- A local rural rivalry between two teams that should both still be unbeaten. I'll be there instead of my usual Avon game.

Sat Oct 7 -- Garfield Heights at Gates Mills Gilmour Academy -- A D2 vs D5 game. A daytime game, since Gilmour has no lights. Beautiful prep school campus setting for an early Fall game.

Sat Oct 7 -- Canton GlenOak at Cleveland Saint Ignatius -- Should be a night game at Byers Field.

LICKING COUNTY FAN 09-25-17 12:03 PM

I have next week already picked out.

LICKING COUNTY FAN 09-25-17 12:03 PM

Plus I cant set through another NC beating by Johnstown.

I'll try again - haha

Thur Oct 12 -- Warren Howland at Niles McKinley -- Local rivals. The history of Niles.

or

-- Rocky River at Parma Normandy -- Another Thursday option.

or

-- Boardman at Youungstown Ursuline -- A dang good Thursday night local grudge match.

Fri Oct 13 -- Oberlin Firelands at Medina Buckeye -- Back to back big games for Buckeye. I believe both these teams will be unbeaten for this one.

Sat Oct 14 -- Ashtabula Lakeside at University School -- Another nice prep school setting for a Fall day game, plus Lakeside is having their best season in years and Cunningham for US is worth the price of admission.

Sat Oct 14 -- Greenwich South Central at Norwalk St. Paul -- Always a treat to see St. Paul play.

I actually read that on another thread. That's why I went with games a couple weeks away and in a different area.

Zunardo 09-25-17 02:51 PM

I love the atmosphere of high school football, but it's enough for me just to schedule one night a week to see my school play. That's just me.

I've met LCF in person a few times. He's a great guy who makes no bones about what he enjoys. Like Sykotyk said, they have the means and the opportunity. God bless 'em!
