Sophmores for upcoming season
 

Any ideas on who the top sophmores will be for next year?

I know of a girl, Brooke Maher, who looks to be starting setter at colerain next year. She played varsity this year and outworks and outhustles most girls that I know.

Outsider Opinions?

Just to name a few

I think Ursuline is going to get alot of attention this fall, they got Jordan Henderson and Roy, Shaffer, Williamson and Leemhuis.

I watched and hung out with Lindsey Roy all today and she is phenomenal... Great work ethic and great hitter... Also great person too ha lol

this year will be her breakout year, I saw her play last year and she is so focused that it's going to be fun watchin her this fall

i agree with you on pretty much all of what you said... i dont know about brooke getting in the coaches skin but yes sam morgan is a very good player and rachel adams from what ive seen is one of the best around

gmm08 Are you talking about Brooke Maher? If you are, you don't know what you are talking about...buttering up the coaches? I have never seen a girl with a harder work ethic than her. She trains on a regular basis, and is in a gym all the time, working out with volleyball. When you have a talent and desire like her,, you don't have to butter anyone up...just watch her...and as far as consistency goes, there is not one volleyball player out there that is totally consistent...they all have bad days, everyone does in every sport, you can't always be 100% at the top of your game everyday. I think Samantha Morgan is a very good player, but so is Brooke....they both play all-aroun I believe....the only thing that Brooke may have on Samantha is that she also sets and Samantha is not a setter, pure hitter and DS. All I can say is you must not like Brooke ...if you have to stoop so low as to say that she gets "too far into the coaches skin" you must not care too much for her. Get over it....I sense a little jealousy!!!

Not a very good choice. I do not know Brooke personally, but understand that some kids just love to be in the gym and asking coaches to help build skills is not "buttering up".

Brooke Maher is one of the top 10 talents in Cincy at this level and wouldn't gain or lose anything by "buttering up".

I have been around volleyball and coaching all my life....that is why I am vbaddict.....I have seen many matches (too many to count)however, I believe you still might be a volleyball "Pup" most of these girls have so much talent, otherwise they wouldn't be playing for the two top clubs in Cincy!!! So get out there and watch a little more volleyball so you can back up your comments.

i did not denote their talent at all...but yes i do know why i was right there in the action. of course there was a lot of behind the scenes that some people don't know but i kno as much about the situation as anyone you could probably ask. i think its shady, but they're on a good team regardless. also, you clearly don't kno brooke well. i NEVER said she didn't work hard but along with that work comes a buddy buddy relationship with the coach which i don't think is neccesary

From what I have heard, the reason that the kids decided to leave Classics was pretty straight forward. They were upset that, what they felt was, a main piece of the national championship puzzle was not asked back at tryouts.

Can you expand on what you mean by buddy-buddy? Just wondering. I have been a coach for a long time and some high performing atheletes and eventual leaders of their teams have a good relationship with the coaching staff which helps keep continuity through hard times.

Again, I don't know Brooke but have seen her play and her teammates all seem to look to her as a leader. It is hard for me to believe that this is creating many problems if her teammates do not see it as an issue.

I agree with the adict, sounds like a little frustration against the individual by making personal attacks.

I have to agree with wiz....I'm not exactly sure why the girls left classics....but I had heard the same reason as wiz stated. I can't imagine that it was anything else. Since you won't share your knowledge we will just assume so. I don't believe for one minute that anything was shady though.

Friendships form between coaches and athletes. There is nothing wrong with that....I was an athlete myself and formed many friendships with coaches....we are still friends to this day. When you can't get along with a coach then problems arise...but as wiz says...not sure what you mean by buddy-buddy?

You are right, I don't know Brooke personally, have met her and her parents a couple of times and I have watched her play, but I have heard very many positive comments about her. She seems to be a very "likable" person. She is definitely a leader on the floor, she works hard and knows what she needs to do to reach her goals....so I just feel that she is an easy person to get along with and therefore, she is able to form friendships with old and young alike. I don't know them well...but I think her parents have done a fine job!!!!

Ran into a friend today....boy did I hear a shocker!!! Since I don't gossip...stay tuned!!!!

Why are we spending soooooooo much time talking about Brooke Maher? She is a good player, but I'm hearing about issues with her. I don't really care, there are other great looking Freshman. Possible list:

I really like how alex Randolph is looking this spring, she is going to shine at MND

Alexandra is definitely going to shine...I think she is going to enjoy quite a few "cups of tea" (as woo pie states) with Varsity at MND this year!
