D VII State Semifinal: St. Paul (13-0) vs Minster (9-4)

Time for St. Paul to step up and make believers out of the rest of the state. MAC thrives this time of year, so we shall see.

Vote and discuss

St Paul can pull the upset here...I predict they win by a field goal.

Stirred not Shaken 11-18-17 08:28 AM

My guess this game is played at Tiffin. NSP 20 Minster 14

StateChampion2012 11-18-17 08:29 AM

Minster 28-14

bigkat 11-18-17 09:23 AM

so does anyone have info on St Paul? what newspapers cover them?

Rangerfan 11-18-17 09:35 AM

Game is at Lima Senior

Rangerfan 11-18-17 09:36 AM

St. Paul runs the ball a lot. Seem to use a tight formation without receivers spread out wide, but like to run around the edge. Their game against Pandora-Gilboa is on WOSN right now.

Norwalk Reflector has a lot of articles on SP.

I really don't know how they will do against Minster, but after watching SP for a number of years, this is the first truly balanced team I have seen. They can pass and defend the pass consistently...which is saying a lot for them!

BlueJayFan 11-18-17 10:05 AM

Minster keeps it rollin'

Sandusky Register also covers them.

Minster will also cover the flyers, all over the field...

who is home team?

NorthCentral 11-18-17 03:05 PM

St. Paul is on the upper bracket. I think that means they are the home team. Maybe that is supposed to make up for the 2 hour bus ride to Lima.

Minster has a hour drive.....where else would you play this game at?

Marion Local played NSP at Tiffin in the 2006 play-offs. Some team is going to have to travel during the play-offs.

Lighten up guys, it was a joke about being home after a long drive to the game. It’s the semi’ s so most teams will have a long drive. SP had a short drive yesterday so it’s fair they get a longer one this week too.

St. Paul got screwed. Lima isn't even close to being neutral

It may be that it was the closest to being truly neutral that was willing to host a game.

Jaws31 11-18-17 04:16 PM

Having played both these teams last year and knowing what they had coming back I have to give the edge to the Wildcats here. I know you can't totally go by how teams looked from the previous season but Minster is the better team here. St. Paul will score but I don't think they'll score enough.

Indiandad 11-18-17 04:44 PM

Minster has more losses (4) than any team left in the tournament in any division.... Why am I not surprised?

Personally, I thought Norwalk St. Paul should be playing Cuyahoga Heights somewhere near Elyria while Minster should be playing Danville somewhere around Dublin.

But you live with what the OHSAA throws at you.

Oh, I think CalPreps says Norwalk St. Paul by a point.

Agree. North Ridgeville’s new stadium would have been perfect for Cuyahoga Hts vs St Paul. Easy drive for each team’s fans.

Their is an article in the Findlay Courier on the PG-NSP game.

Rocket Surgeon 11-18-17 10:08 PM

Mapquest lists Minster to Lima at 39 miles....Norwalk to Lima 110 miles. How is that neutral? Findlay would have been half way for each. Shame on OHSAA.

As I posted earlier Marion Local played NSP at Tiffin in 2006 was that fair ? ML also played Liberty Benton in their backyard at Findlay in 08. In 2003 the Flyers played Newark Catholic at Upper Arlington, when your in the play-offs some team is usually going to have travel farther than another team. Be happy your team is still in the play-offs, I am sure Pandora Gilboa would love to trade places with NSP.

I believe they won a state title with 3 or 4, means nothing now.

I would think you are correct, "most" universities do not want to host a game. Do not make enough money.

RedskinFan 11-19-17 08:01 AM

St. Paul 1 win in last 20 years vs. a MAC school - and it took the best class they may of ever had.

Minster by at least one score.
